News Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase announced for June 28th

Paraphrasing Grubb:
  • Nintendo's approach will be smaller Directs spread out, game-specific. Expects Directs for Nintendo first-party games in near future, possibly throughout July.
  • Metroid Prime remake holiday game, possibly November for 25th anniversary.
To be clear, it seems like more speculating than for sure about a Nintendo 1st party direct. He just feels they need to have something.

However, he said he is hearing pretty certain about MP being a big holiday title

Jeff doubling down on Prime 1 this year and 2+3 still coming.

They must have a lot of content to share if they plan on having more smaller focused directs spread out over time rather than one large direct. That's exciting!

RIP new Fire Emblem announcement 🪦

Shin Megami Tensei V Redux, Ace Attorney 7, Mass Effect LE, and Persona 3/4/5 let's GO!

Jeff with no persona info but hopefully it’s announced and sounds like his contacts believe. No list of which games. Thinks goldeneye could come but war still an issue.

I had to tend to work and missed everything so far. So:

  • Metroid Prime HD holiday game 2022
  • Metroid Prime 2 and 3 are both coming, not as much work put into those games compared to Prime HD, but both should come out before Prime 4
  • Possible 1st-party Mini in July, or smaller announcements here and there throughout July to cover the rest of the year before the September Direct

Do I have that all right?

I’m anticipating $60 for the other Prime games because Nintendo. Wonder how much they’re touched up and how they’ll be marketed.

You got that right

Releasing Metroid in Q1 2023 is a better idea. Pokémon would absolutely destroy in in november.
The overlap between Pokémon and Metroid (or anything really) is pretty minimal. Nintendo never leaves Pokémon alone on the holiday season.

Would it though? They both go for different audiences.
It would be true with Metroid vs something else but Pokémon has literally the biggest audience in the gaming world. There'd be very few Nintendo fans who pick Metroid remaster over a new gen of Pokémon, assuming they priced the same (i think all of them are members here lol)

Jeff Grubb's Nintendo scoops summarized:
  • Metroid Prime DE is definitely one of the games coming this year, November as previously speculated.
  • Metroid Prime 2 and Metroid Prime 3 are also on the way, not with the same treatment as 1 but at least with updated controls and also a small touch up. Used as a lead up until Metroid Prime 4. Sprinkled in between MP1 DE and Metroid Prime 4 since 4 is probably still a ways off.
  • There's still a first party Nintendo showcase coming, probably also a mini purely focused on first party games. Here's probably where we'll learn more about Bayonetta 3, get Metroid Prime DE announced. Don't expect megaton announcements like the 3D Mario teams next game.

As for my own speculation, that First Party mini will also have WWHD+TPHD.

Fine by me, get to save money on not buying Echoes

WHICH SUCKS!

Echoes is still a solid game, but I don't want to replay it ever again without the infinite ammo cheat for the light and dark beam
If that's how you have to enjoy it to finally admit that Echoes is the best Prime, I'll accept it.

😉

Pretty much. Sounds like it'll be a very near-term focus, marketing wise, this summer. That's fairly usual for Nintendo but we've seen them (including in 2021) willing to talk about things that are further out at times.

Makes me wonder if Zelda is just about going to make the fiscal year. Get your 'smaller' announcements out of the way this month and next; anchor your holiday season around Splatoon 3, Pokemon, Metroid Prime HD, and Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and have that line-up confirmed by mid to late July. Do a Direct in late September, and maybe reveal the Zelda subtitle and release date for late March 2023.

So Prime is basically a remake? If it's a holiday game and getting more upgrades than 2 and 3.

Sounds like the Direct talk is probably done, already move on to talking about sony tv shows zzzzzz

So another mini coming in about a month or so with Metroid. Gotcha. Mario Kart DLC and Windwaker will be there too.

Do you have a link to when he said this? The most recent and reliable info we had on this was that Retro was going to finish 1 and then 2 and 3 would be outsourced with 1 serving as a template for 2 and 3.

They didnt price 60$ Sunshine/Galaxy , I dont know why they would with Prime 2/3 a bundle is probably what they will do if its not a remaster
Mario 3D All-Stars was emulated, not the same as redeveloping the game from scratch a la Majora's Mask 3DS. So Metroid Prime 1 could be the complete remake and if 2 and 3 are emulated, running in 60fps on a higher resolution then those could be bundled for $60.

So probably

July Mini Direct for first party
August Direct for Splatoon 3
September General Direct
I am perfectly okay with this. I need WWHD and TPHD to be in that July mini though, although a September General being like "hey this is out next month" is also perfectly possible

Nothing Jeff Grubb said today is new. Emily has told us a while ago that all three Metroid Prime games will come to the Switch.
No one said it was new, but he was the first to confirm it’s going to be one of their holiday titles this year.

At this point I wonder if the real reason why Nintendo split the Direct is because they want to show their First Party games on Drake, but had to fulfill the obligations they had with third parties and that's why this Partners happened

(Maybe, based on what seems to be reasonable speculation) a first-party Direct, Xenoblade 3 and Live a Live in July. We eatin
