I play Pokémon Go, does that count?
Right now however, Miyamoto says that he's "hooked on Pokemon Go," and that "this game, which I'm playing with my wife, is a dream come true of playing a game with my whole family." Overall, Miyamoto says that he's been enjoying the game with family and friends for a couple of years already, and jokes about the relatively high average age of players in Japan. - June 2021. He is so cool.

I would like to state my admiration for people listing Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Galaxy 2 in their Top 5. You folks have excellent taste.

Wouldn't even need a counter, just have bellydrum write a script that counts how many times a game title appears within the thread, and boom.
You are right. But ideally the code would have to be implemented so games get points according to the positions in which they are mentioned. 1st gets 10, 2nd gets 9, and so forth, something like that.

I can do a Top 5 Nintendo games list.

Ordered by release year:
  • Super Mario Bros 3
  • TLoZ A Link Between Worlds
  • Mario Kart 8
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Metroid Dread
I started with the NES and I love a lot of those games but games are just better now.

Counting one per franchise:

1) Banjo-Kazooie
2) Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
3) Super Mario Odyssey
4) The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
5) Kingdom Hearts 2

Partner/mini rumblings come from speculation from insiders, not actual insider infos.
Right now we don't have any concrete evidences that point to a specific kind of Direct.
Regarding the content, the only thing we have is Nate expecting a Direct that could be good to solid.
I suppose Nate's podcast will add fuel to the speculation though.
Oh and I have played to completion around 50 games on my switch, don't judge me

The one game I fully expect to see next week is Mario + Rabbids.

The top list thing is such an esoteric thing to me. That's not how my mind operates like, at all. If someone asked me, I would be like "how would you do that ?!" lol

I refuse to rank them but here are my top ten:

Kirby Air Ride
Destiny 2
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Persona 4: Golden
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Pokemon Crystal Version
Megaman Battle Network 3
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life

I don't know how anyone could ever figure out how to order their babies in a ranking.

Do it like me and list 5 random games that you like and then do it again for every minute of the day.

I'm on:

1. Super Mario Galaxy 2
2. Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations
3. Final Fantasy XII
4. FEAR
5. Nier

Speaking about what I expect next week’s Direct to be, I’m gonna throw my hat in the run for Mini/Partner (this is what I voted for in that other thread as well). I don’t think it’ll be a general Direct and too many people in the know seem to agree.

Nintendo is going to change their approach this time around and announce the Direct on the same day it is airing just to watch this place burn.

The people “in the know” like Nate Drake have said to go in expecting a General Direct. The others “in the know” like Grubb and Andy are basically speculating
I hope it’s a general one! I’m just keeping my expectations low because Nintendo keeps playing with my heart 😭

I believe in Nate and think that will be a General Direct, but if it's a partner I just hope that people don't be so rude with him, like were when Nintendo announced the partner from august 2020. If I remember well, it was when C. Tsubasa stop leaking.

I can only pick a top 1 game, and that's BotW.

The rest is impossible to rank IMO, but other amazing games I've played:

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Super Mario Odyssey (also Bowser's Fury)
Metroid Dread
Pokémon Legends Arceus
Astral Chain
Kid Icarus Uprising
Luigi's Mansion 3

Won't even begin to pretend to rank these. They're just all fantastic. And yes I only own Nintendo consoles, if that wasn't obvious.

Technically you can announce the new FE and have another Bayo 3 or M+R SOH trailer during a partner showcase considering that IntSys, Platinum and Ubisoft are 3rd party devs.....
Technically yes, but we're never getting another Partner Showcase so we don't have to worry about that.

There’s always a group waiting and hanging out for Nate to be wrong on this. If it ends up not being a General Direct get ready to see some people who never post come out of the woods to say something. They do it every time.

If you're announcing a new Fire emblem, showcasing Bayonetta 3 AND M+R then call it a General direct and gain even more visibility. Partner Showcase are gone for good.

oh you sweet summer child.... people will be ruthless. no matter the context. fuck them all.

There is one game I do expect to see in the Direct even if it's a Partner Showcase: that beautiful Japan only Shin-Chan game.
Spanish voiceover actors apparently had teased it several times, and even a screenshot of the game with the spanish text was seen online a few days ago.

Good morning world. I have emerged from the abyss to share my top 10 favorite video games. Restricting it to 1 game per franchise has been a fun challenge (and made me realize how few franchises I’ve actually played, but to that end it’s shown how great the Switch has been for introducing me to new franchises)

1. Super Mario Odyssey
2. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
3. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
4. Splatoon 2
5. Animal Crossing: New Horizons
6. Kirby and the Forgotten Land
7. Celeste
8. Shovel Knight
9. Stardew Valley
10. Hades

1. Super Mario Odyssey
2. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
3. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
4. Super Mario 3D World
5. Mario Kart 8
6. New Super Mario Bros. Wii
7. Super Mario Galaxy
8. Mario Kart Wii
9. Splatoon 2
10. Splatoon

I don't really care if Nate is right or not.

That sounds combative, but it isn't. If it's a General Direct next week, great. If it's a no-show/Partner thing, then that's fine too. No dramas either way, y'know?

The drama in and around a Direct can be exhausting, even if it is sometimes amusing.

Oh here we go

5. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
4. Scooby-Doo: Night of 100 Frights
3. Persona 5
2. Animal Crossing New Leaf
1. Luigi's Mansion

Wonder if we still see a game in August. Maybe something gets announced for it in the Direct. (Would be a good month for Advance Wars)

Astral Chain is a game that i really liked after my first playthrough....but absolutely loved after my 2nd and 3rd

I’m surprised to see no one talks about Shadow of the Colossus in their list. It’s a phenomenal game!

Besides that, what are you guys playing/replaying right now?

That's where I see Windwaker HD launching if it's coming this year. It wouldn't need a long hype cycle like pretty much any other game would.

Yeah, no need to be rude to insiders lol. Like okay, let’s assume they’re wrong and you decide their information isn’t trustworthy. Alright, so stop having expectations based on what they say, but don’t be a dick to them or anything lol.

The basics of human decency often get ignored far too often over stuff as trivial as video games. It’s very sad to see when that happens.

I'm a very normal person with a family friendly selection. My 5 faves in random order:

  • Yoshi's Island
  • Unreal Tournament
  • Breath of the Wild
  • Doom 2016
  • Mario Galaxy.

Oh, are we doing top games for some reason?

All I know is that my first is Pathologic 2, and then it's a mess. I can't imagine how people keep a list considering mine change based on mood. Is Okami better than Tropical Freeze? Right now I think yes, tomorrow I'll say no.
Mine rotates alot i can easily pick a top 50
