Man this thread is going to be insufferable until Monday/Tuesday unless someone comes to give reassurance lol

What's your issue?
There isn't one. Was just making the point that Geoff's lack of Xenoblade at his shows doesn't mean it reflects his own personal interest in the series.

Nintendo just doesn't typically participate in SGF and when it comes to the Game Awards, not enough journalists (who actual come up with the nominations) vote for the series. Though, tbh, this year it probably has a better chance at getting a Best RPG nom than previous years.

Even if we get reassurance it won't stop unless Nintendo themselves announce it. I may just have to avoid these threads because it's getting tiresome. It's bad everywhere right now.

One day Nintendo fans will learn that Geoff doesn't pick the TGA noms and that video game journalism in general doesn't care as much about Xenoblade as they think they should.
I honestly find it very hard to believe that Geoff has no say in what gets nominated. We've seen celebs like Nate Fillion get nominated for awards when he received those nominations no where else in the industry. Same with people like 50 Cent and other celebs. If they're willing to show up, they'll get a nomination.

Tbh we know so much of this year's Switch lineup that the lack of a big direct wouldn't even be that disappointing imo. September will probably be more interesting anyways as it'll probably have a bigger focus on 2023.

We already know we're getting Bayo, Splatoon, FE, Pokemon, Rabbids, and Xenoblade over the next 6 months. Though a lot of those could use updates for sure.

I know but this thread needs something direct given how it spirals into mini/partner talk so readily lmao. 2020 really messed some people up in terms of expectations huh
Nate already said the direct is still next week. He can't rule out any type of direct because if he's "wrong" it's just more ammo for those who are always trying to discredit him. If I was in his shoes I'd do the same thing. No reason to say one way or another if you don't have info saying one way or another. Besides I don't feel like a lot of these people would be satisfied with any reassurance that isn't from Nintendo.

I think you're thinking of the Spike TV version that precedes what we have now and have been getting that past 6-7 years, which works totally different.

Bold of you to assume Nate is ever going to be safe from haters
meh. I know about all the shit he had to deal with and probably still has. I think its pretty clear how the internet works.
You are a target no matter what you say or do. I hope he at least feels welcome around here.

Xenoblade’s constant snubs at TGAs speaks to how different Geoff’s view of what gaming can be (Big budget, Hollywood-esque, Graphical showcases) is different from what many JRPG fans value. I don’t think anyone actually thinks he is upset or actively hates the Xeno series, people are just venting their frustrations via jokes and memes.
Geoff doesn’t have any influence over nominations or winners though.

If there’s any bias it’s on the part of the wider gaming press, not Geoff.

I think Nate has stated several times he doesn't know branding for upcoming directs.
For this one, he also stated some time ago that based on his infos, mini would be a weird branding (I think @Dark Cloud reposted Nate's post not so long ago)

I’m having too Much fun seeing the reaction this direct.

Didn’t think it’ll cause the end of the world for some lol.

Somehow this is Rex’s pants fault.
