This is where I grew up before moving at the age of 14. A desert with hot weather year round and even hotter summer. Winter it would cool sometimes tho.

My body has adjusted and the current hot weather is pretty manageable here, we are getting 95-100 right now where I currently live so it’s better then below lol. Especially since it gets much better in other months that isn’t summer.

I covered Phoenix, Arizona for work for a few weeks in the summer a couple years back, and it was like 112-118 every single day. And dry heat or no, that's a giant 'no thank you' from me

Ooh, I didn’t realize how many Shantae games there are. They’re all on sale! Any recs?

Spiritfarer is 67% off too! I have it on game pass and haven’t played yet, but it seems like a handheld experience and a game I’ll want to keep around in case it leaves GP any time soon. I’ll give the Switch demo a whirl, it’s on my must play list for pride anyhow.
The only ones I’ve beaten are four and five (Half Genie Hero and Seven Sirens) and they are both great! Two (Risky’s Revenge) is a bit clunky imo. Haven’t played the original or Pirate’s Curse yet.

Look, I'm not saying I hate summer, but when I'm too cold I can simply put on more layers of clothing until I am comfortable. When I'm too hot, I will quickly reach a point where I can not take off more layers of clothing without being shunned by society.

So yeah, I guess what I am saying is that I do hate summer after all, sorry to have wasted your time like that.

Just want to chime in and say that the Demon Slayer port on Switch is excellent. I played it on PS5 previously (borrowed it), and as a massive fan of the show, it’s amazing. I haven’t had any issues with performance and it looks quite clean (to my eyes, at least, I am no Digital Foundry), been playing exclusively handheld mode!

I feel like a minority in forums like this in that I don’t really pay any attention to “hype cycles” of games. I watch the trailers in Nintendo Direct’s, State of Play’s etc but that’s it. Don’t pay any attention to the secondary trailers that get dropped on YouTube/Twitter, don’t look at preview articles, don’t follow the Twitter feed..

Like Xenoblade 3 is most likely going to be top 3 in my GotY list and I think I’ve seen the single announcement trailer and barely know anything about it. And that’s fine, I’ll learn about and see all that when I play it.

This is pretty much how I am. If I wanna play or watch something, I’m sold and you don’t need to keep selling me.

You know what we need?

Another Game & Watch Gallery. Those were great. I'd buy a 20 dollar download of that, even a larger priced pack if it were loaded with games.

Why does Midnight Suns not have a pre-release thread, smh.
Guess it does after all, silly me.

I've been playing Resident Evil 4 now that I finally got it for cheap (and just in time for the announcement of the Remake) and it is still so good it's almost impossible to believe it. How can a game that doesn't let you move while you shoot feel so good to play 16 years after I first played it what is this madness how did they pull this off why are games not this fun anymore am I that old.

I don't know how the Remake can be a better experience, and I'm not joking. I'm sure it can be good (apparently, RE2 Remake is fantastic) but this game feels to me like lightning in a bottle.

This looks so freaking ridiculous and I mean it in a good way lmao. It also looks like it might be addicting similar to Hades. I'm definitely keeping my eye out for this.

Resident Evil 4 is the perfect game to illustrate that "restrictions" aren't always a bad thing but can be a legitimate design choice. Sadly a lot of modern games seem to be mainly concerned with making games as convenient as friction-less as possible.

I completely agree, and this is something that I often dislike about remakes that mistake design choices of the original games with "limitations of the hardware" (or that consider design choices that are made aware of these limitations as inherently bad). Some games feel a certain way as a feature and not as a limitation. The enemy encounters in RE4 are perfectly suited to the shooting mechanics (or vice versa), producing tense and fun encounters, even if the mechanics aren't as streamlined as those in current action games.

I saw your post (I believe it was yours) about AC: Origins, which I played for like 40 minutes a couple of years ago, and I feel the same way about some modern AAA decisions. It's hard to find the words without coming off as elitist but I do think that, by aiming for the lowest common denominator, many modern games feel duller and like background noise. I'm not advocating for gitting gud or for impossible games or anything, I'd just like to see more big companies taking the time to make their game feel unique.

Guys, I don't know if he's been here, but a cancer patient is asking The Pokemon Company to play Scarlet and Violet before its release because the doctors think he won't live until its release, if you can spread the word, I'm sure it will help him a lot.

I was not prepared for how hard Devil May Cry 3, I've wiped a few times as early as Chapter 3. Game is fun though and Dante is making me laugh a lot.

What are considered the best Kirby games?

I've played Nightmare in Dreamland, Amazing Mirror, Canvas Curse, Super Star, Blockball, and Pinball Land.

Alright, after sleeping on it I think I’m gonna move in on Shantae and the Seven Sirens. A 10h metroidvania romp sounds great to me, and the hand-drawn 2D games always get my love after Wario Land: Shake it and Rayman Legends! Maybe by buying this I’ll put the drop in the bucket to make the new 2D Mario follow suit lol.

I dunno if I’ll ever feel as alive again as I felt in the moment I first heard that song.

it just hit so hard. Punched you straight in the face. You dropped everything and made sure everyone you know hears that as well
It definitely made me face my own mortality.

Is Forgotten Land really that good, or is it just recency bias?
8.5 on metacritic, I would give it around an 8.2. It's a bit slow to start but a great first jump into 3D and the final boss is my favourite in Kirby series. If you liked Mario 3D World or Land you'll probably like it, although FL (thankfully) has no time limit for levels and has more exploration.

I took a look at the prices of the average XSX/PS5 games. Usually it's 80 EUR per game. That shocks me, during the sixth generation new games cost me something like 40 EUR.

I wonder what Nintendo will do with Switch 2 games. Will they be of the same price level as that of the XSX/PS5?

Believe it or not, you get used to it. Or at least I did.

Considering Nintendo in Japan has kept the price low for most of their games when they could charge a lot more for them , I wouldn’t expect it for most titles outside of games like Smash that are already 70 in some regions

Also the 80€ price tag is the most abusive price hike I have seen because while games were ‘70€‘ that never happened in really in retail but I have seen retailers are not discounting that much games next-gen like they used to with PS4/XboxOne games

unironically this

also huge shout out to Rebecca Black for keeping at it despite people’s reactions to this song nearly ruining her life. she was a fucking kid and had to endure untold shit for it from everyone, just for wanting to make music.

now she’s got a wide range of shit, including songs about being very, very gay and heartbroken!! so happy pride, love wins

Interesting! We hit 100 every now and then, but I don't recall ever seeing a heat advisory or anything like that. Although it's entirely possible I've just missed it. Then again I don't recall ever seeing a 'cold advisory' or anything like that, either; only notifications when there are storms of some sort.

Either way, early June is WAY too soon to hit 100 degrees
Higher altitude arid/desert ish valley and ridges that’s between 4500-5000 above sea level. And it can swing a bit

it starts cute but slow, but it really does eventually ramp up and feel amazing. I definitely started out with “fine but not great” as my impression, but it really ends up much better than that.

and the final boss is… holy fuck the final boss is perfect. like off the charts swaggy. like just talking about it makes me want to go back and play that fight over again. like swaggier than an Elden Ring setpiece boss.

I hated summer at our old house. Now it's not so bad due to air conditioning.

Well there’s your 16th event (FF VII 25th) - one event allowed per day folks so that one gets crossed off the list lol

Hopefully NA gets a solid summer sale. Wouldn’t mind getting Famicom Detective Club
I've been playing through The Missing Heir recently and it's... definitely a Famicom-era adventure game. It's a LOT of "selecting every option on the menu until you find the right thing to ask to proceed." It's not always obvious either. Sometimes you need to ask about the exact same topic twice to get a second line of dialogue which triggers progress.

I'm really glad the Famicom Detective Club games got remade. The art is fantastic, the voice acting is genuinely really good, and the music is awesome. The title screen music is one of those songs I could listen to for 5 hours straight and not get sick of. But I do think some small quality of life changes would have gone a LONG way with these remakes. Maybe an optional mode that highlights what you have to ask next to proceed, so you can just enjoy the story instead of fall asleep selecting every single text option multiple times to find the right way to move on.

The second one, The Girl Who Stands Behind, is a lot better on that front thankfully. Much more straightforward.

It happen with VC4 and Labyrinth of refrain

Someone was speculating this and Bayonetta 1/2 don’t get eshop sales due to the BOGO discount when you purchase one of the games. Not sure how true it is but looks like Bayo 1/2 haven’t been discounted ever on the eshop.

Where I live, most if not all houses are built to store heat. Air conditioning is not a thing either. Mostly because consistently hot summers have not really been a thing in these parts, and tbh they still aren't. Days with temperatures of 30°C+ are pretty much limited to a 6-8 weeks window at most around here, with few, isolated peaks going as high as 35-38 in some instances.

The issue is that I am rather uncomfortable with everything above 25 already, let alone when coupled with above average humidity.

Britney Spears’ wedding photos are the biggest megaton of this not-E3 so far. My heart is so full for her, happiness and freedom at last!

Yeah that’s been my primary thought: you buy one, you the get the other on discount. My guess has been that putting anyone of them on sale would break something in the backend.
