I can't think of the last time a big game like this had its release date pushed forward to an earlier date. This is madness.

This is a wild and unexpected surprise. A welcome one, though it presumably means Splatoon 3 is coming a little later in the year.

Nintendo : Do you think there is a way to advance Xeno 3’s release date ?
Takahashi : WE CAN DEFINITLY DO THIS !
Nintendo : Oh cool, then-
Takahashi : THE TIME IS NOW !
Nintendo : I got it, we-
Takahashi : NOW IT’S REYN TIME !
They gotta make Takahashi happy sometimes… Poor man wants to make another clasic game with mechas

Still not sure how I feel on this one. The characters all just look like fan made weirdo oc's to me and it looks a bit messy? Not sure how to explain it. Also with how many people are seemingly in your party at once I can't imagine how noisy it'll get once all the voice lines start playing in combat haha.

Nintendo must have found out that a few days ago I put in a time off request at work for July 29th through August 1st.

Thanks Nintendo.

Oh man fusion and building on 2’s awesome combat, so hype. Want that special edition if I can nab it. Back to radio silence for me tho

NO I HAVE TO BUY BOTH LIVE-A-LIVE AND THIS FUCK
Omg I forgot about that!

Oh what the hell is this, AI Nirvana and FE Three Hopes on June 24 then MH Rise Sunbreak on June 30 AND then Live A live and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in July. Talk about Jrpg overload!

This is cool af. Seven characters on a single fight let's gooo!

Hey Nintendo can you do a 'release date trailer' for BOTW2 next?

Jesus, FEW, Strikers and now this so close together.

Thankfully I’m not caught up with FE or XB quite fully yet so I won’t impulse buy them and can hold off lol

That's... not September. Yikes, I need to hurry up with my other games now lol

Nice surprise, looks like things have progressed faster than expected with the final touches, that's good to see.

Crash Bandicoot remakes did the same IIRC. That's the most recent one I can think of.

Splatoon 3 “delayed” is funny. It was said for summer and summer doesn’t end until late September…
It's not unlikely their planned date for Splatoon 3 got pushed back a month or a little more, even if we don't know 100% for sure, and that they didnt want that gap in late July to early September.

Just had a chance to watch the trailer, damn if I didn’t know better (I do lol) I’d be wagering this was Switch Pro footage - what an unreal improvement from XB2. A shame that one never got a patch if they are running on similar enough builds of the engine, wow.

They did a 'release year' one just a little while ago, be careful what you wish for :p

Or maybe they’re trying to be strategic with their releases? Strikers is out a month before and maybe they want more space between it and Splatoon 3, 2 online-focused games.

This is not good, seeing all these party members is making me greedy. Now I have an unreasonable desire to have them bring back everyone from 1 and 2 to have an ultimate legacy party.

Also, with so many members, the probability of one them being a traitor just got pretty big.

Can't say I expected them to move the release date earlier. Looks really cool! That fusion system looks fun!

Maybe, but Splatoon is a title that makes a lot of sense to release in late July since that's close to the start of the summer holidays in Japan. You'd be missing out on that holiday if you pushed Splatoon, so if you wanted to space between Strikers and Splatoon, giving up on a mid-late July/early August spot for Splatoon does not seem like the first choice to me.

Who knows though, perhaps Splatoon 3 is still mid-July or early August. We'll just have to wait and see.

I bet Splatoon is early September now. Maybe it slipped back 4-6 weeks or Nintendo decided it’s better to pace out the scheduling this way.

What’s obvious is that Nintendo clearly sits on finished or near finished games ;)

Well that's a surprise. Not often games get bumped to an earlier release. Maybe Nintendo positioning Splatoon 3 as a big Autumn release game instead by taking the original September slot. Also clears the path for Fire Emblem if rumours are to be believed.

Loooooads to unpack in that trailer. 6 fighters in a team instead of 3, more playable characters (including Nopon), combining two units into one (kinda look like blades in their design), mysterious new enemies and nebulous teasing dialogue. Very exciting stuff, looking forward to this.

June: Mario Strikers
July: Xenoblade 3, FE Warriors
August: Advance Wars Re-boot Camp
September: Splatoon 3

That's how I see the next few months going now

The special edition being Nintendo exclusive will hopefully ease scalpers trying to nab multiple copies from Amazon and Target.

Sure, but that is something they would have probably already accounted for back in the original plan. More likely is that the Zelda delay was going to put more pressure on XB3 for the fall / holiday, and Splatoon is a better fit for that spot. Perhaps XB3 wrapped up development sooner than expected so they swapped them.

Though, I’m still of the vote that this probably won‘t impact Splatoon too much, I expect it in August
