Anyone else having trouble with the text on the eShop (in docked mode) recently? Some of the font sizes look almost unreadable now.
I'm curious where the font sizes are looking small. I just checked and the font sizes look pretty good for me.

Updating the OP with new stuff that now has an eShop page. Here is the new stuff specifically for next week:

Mar 13 Cyber Fight
Mar 14 Drag Clash Pro: Hot Rod Racing
Mar 15 Dawn of the Monsters
Mar 16 Wife Quest
Mar 17 Boxing Gym Story
Mar 17 Dark Deity
Mar 17 LOST EGG 2: Be together
Mar 17 My Lady Sayo 絶対君主!小夜様
Mar 17 Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
Mar 17 The Wake
Mar 18 Inukari - Chase of Deception
Mar 18 Jumping Bricks Ball
Mar 18 Royal Frontier

Some standouts for coming week:

Dawn of the Monsters - 13AM Games (Runbow) developed and WayForward published beat'em up. Could be interesting if that's your thing.

Dark Diety - SRPG that reminds me of old school Fire Emblem with the crisp pixel art.

The Cruel King and the Great Hero - Side scrolling RPG with a beautiful storybook art style.

Was in the mood for a racing game and a dungeon crawler and ended up settling on Fast RMX and Torchlight II. Both are awesome, that is all.

Just popping in to say that one of my most anticipated games in a long time is releasing next Tuesday….

RUNE FACTORY 5!!!!!

Now I know the Japanese release was plagued with performance issues, but XSEED says they are working hard to have it running better for the release next week.

Farming/life sim games are some of my favorites - Trio of Towns, Stardew Valley, RF4 etc. I preordered the Earthmate Edition from Walmart and I never buy physical or special editions nowadays!

I’m blocking off all next week to play this and am running through Stardew for like the 5th time this week lol.

Anyone else looking forward to this?

I will post detailed impressions next week especially regarding performance :)

I’m super excited for it. Rune Factory is my favorite farm sim. I definitely would like to hear your impressions, particularly on how it compares to RF4.

I enjoyed the Monster Hunter Rise trial so I picked it up on a 33% discount.
Was also going to buy Rise but decided to get The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles for now so my girlfriend and I can play through it together. Definitely going to get Rise in the future though!

I started playing Death’s Gambit: Afterlife. Really enjoying it, very atmospheric. Doesn’t pull its punches in terms of difficulty but I like the portrayal of death and his minions. The horse is cool too.

We should make a famiboards MK8 thread to have some mp fun going! Haven’t played it online in years!
I enjoyed the Monster Hunter Rise trial so I picked it up on a 33% discount. Also snagged Yes, Your Grace, and Flipping Death, the latter seems excellent so far.

I’ve had Rise since launch month and have played it a whopping 2 hours or so, lol

Loved the little I’ve played but there are so many great games in my backlog and so little time! Anyway, I’m a super newb of the series, but the fact you should play it coop, and how I need to be in the mood to play with strangers online, I always put it aside for “that day” when I’m ready to go online mp with the game…

Until that day, I’ll wait for the right moment to play it solo haha

Fast RMX frikkin rocks guys, this might be one of my favorite racing games in the platform. Blistering fast, runs and looks great, tons of courses and ships.

I know I’m like 5 years late to the party but damn. If Nintendo is ever looking at devs to buy, Shin’en should be on the list, those guys are wizards on Nintendo hardware

Updated the OP with new games. Here's the lineup for next week:

Mar 22 Kraken Academy!!
Mar 22 Rune Factory 5

A big week with Kirby and Rune Factory 5.

Also I am going to try to post a weekly highlight of some sales. I'm aiming to mainly focus on things that were generally well received and are at, or close to an all time low price wise.

Blossom Tales - $5.24 (-65%) [Demo]
Invisible, Inc. Console Edition - $4.99 (-75%)
Void Bastards - $11.99 (-60%)
Röki - $6.79 (-66%)
Forager - $7.99 (-60%)
One Step From Eden - $11.99 (-40%)
Hand of Fate 2 - $8.99 (-70%)
Tails Of Iron - $16.74 (-33%)

Glyph - $9.99 (-50%) [Demo]
Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville Complete Edition - $9.99 (-75%)

I’ll recommend Blossom Tales off that list. A nice slice of Zelda-type gameplay thats just the right length.

Invisible, Inc. is at the top of my list based on the games you listed. There are quite a few really good Switch Games on sale this week.

So Crimzon Clover is considered one of the finest shmup on Switch right? It's at its lowest now and we know how often those games go on sale
If you like Cave SHMUPs, it’s probably the best -like out there.

Bunch of Capcom games in the sale today (UK Store) once again though, the Resident Evil games have the same small discounts as per usual. I would jump on REmake and RE4 if they matched the same sale prices they have on the other consoles.

Since it isn't listed: The Ramp is a simple, lean skating game with amazing feel. It's a no-brainer if you enjoy the sports or game of its kind, and it's priced just right at 5€. Just keep in mind it's more of a digital toy than a score-chaser:

Also, the Switch version of Boomerang X just received a patch that greatly improves gyro aiming. It's one of my favorite games from last year, so if the Switch version really is fixed now, I encourage you all to give it a chance:

If you guys haven’t grabbed it yet, go get Assault Android Cactus+! on deep sale for the price of a coffe, amazing performance, great gfx, amazing gameplay/gunplay and still top 5 material as one of the best twin stick shooters of all time!

If you have a problem with the chibi droids, believe me you’ll get over it and everything else looks great art-wise, also you can unlock “cheats” to make them not-chibi among other things, lol.

But seriously, game is incredible, dunno if Pax is on here but has always been a chill dude on Era/gaf.

Enjoying Dark Deity at the moment, it’s like a lost GBA Fire Emblem. Not so keen on character designs but the conversations between the cast are quite good.

I'm really interested in rune factory 5 (afte Kirby of course) as I only played 3 and remember spending a lot of time with it, but did they fixed all the perfomance and bugs issues? A friend of mine has been playing it since it was launched in JP and even with all the patches he still considers it a rough experience.

The Cruel King and the Great Hero is coming out later this week. I can't wait for more people to get their hands on the game.

I'm still early on, but the game plays well both docked and in handheld mode.

I played this a little bit when it came out, but I enjoyed it..It reminded me a bit of Box Boy.

I believe certain countries had a digital option..sadly US isn't one of them.

My partner has been playing this since late last week, the music in this game is tremendous. The theme in the forest that has the hunny bees & hunny bears just absolutely whips ass.

Dunno what to play.

Guess I'll just play what I've been playing for a while now.

Good to hear...keep us updated. I'm trying to finish NEO this week so I can start it.
Im about halfway through now, here’s my spoiler-free thoughts on the mechanics! I think it brings a lot of really interesting ideas to the mix despite wearing its influence on its sleeve.

1) The basic classes split into four promote options at level 10 and another four at level 30, so there’s a huge amount of options. For example, cleric, your basic healer, promotes into Guardian (mounted healer, heals units over time, with heavy armour, can really take a punch). Also Inquisitor, which gives them heavy armour and high magic defence- both of these can hold their own healing your front line units. Can also promote to Priest, giving them higher healing ability and being able to do it at range if you want them to maximise that but keep them at the rear. Finally, they can promote to a magic combat class that both heals and casts attack magic.

‘Warrior’ promotes to the usual frontline classes. Knight (infantry with higher attack power), barbarian (infantry trading defence for attack), defender (infantry trading attack for defence) and dragoon, but the latter is really interesting in that it does more damage depending on how far you move. It’s advanced promotion also turns you into a dragon knight with fire magic options!

Archers have cool promotion options- they can turn into a ‘ranger’, where they wield two swords but ignore weight penalties, making them really fast and dual attacking. Comes with a reference to Aragorn, these are really strong melee units. They can also promote to ‘witch hunter’, which is a mounted archer that trades speed for a massive damage boost vs enemy magic users, which is really useful when unit HP pools are a little higher than FE and the magic users are generally the most dangerous enemy troops.

The most interesting set is ‘adept’, who are elemental martial artists of various spheres. They promote into classes using fire magic, or high speed with a spear as a ‘wind’ class etc.

2) While FE units being able to shove/rescue/pull back each other has been a thing for a very long time, here every class has a non-combat ability, meaning they have functionality even if they can’t hurt the enemy.
Adepts can ‘chain’ the enemy, stopping them moving. Rogues can ‘disarm’ the enemy, removing their weapons attack power, which is really useful when their knives can’t touch a heavy armoured unit. Warriors can still ‘shove’ your troops 1 space, but wizards can teleport troops from one side of them to the other, allowing you to pull troops out of danger or get them to where they need to be. Archers can grant +1 move to their allies instead of attacking. All of this works to mean that units that aren’t attacking each turn aren’t falling behind in xp as you can often find something for them to do.

3) instead of a weapon triangle, each unit’s vulnerabilities is defined by its armour type. Each unit has four weapons you can freely select from, prioritising speed, accuracy, strength or criticals, that you upgrade seperately. Helpfully the game flags up a tiny red or green arrow when you select a unit, so you can see which enemy troops they will be most effective against. This is so useful.

The base conversations between units are really good and add nuance to a huge cast. Some of them are lighthearted tropey stuff, but lots are really thoughtful, particularly amongst the more veteran characters and adepts that join your cause. Which I found really disarming and heartwarming in places, they are worth reading, the friendships and romances develop gradually and carefully. Great stuff.

4) The scenarios. There’s a mix of ‘reach x point’, ‘interact with multiple y points’, ‘kill z’, and ‘wipe out the enemy’. There are a lot of really interesting ones here- one in particular changed halfway through that I really enjoyed.

The story is by-the-numbers FE- warfare between nations with some dark magic behind it is no spoiler here. It’s nothing special but does the job.

A couple of criticisms-
1) the character design is all over the place. Even units from the same background don’t really hang together as a cohesive force, but then it’s not like FE’s do either. The difference though is that this translates to the battlefield. Your units are blue, enemy are red (just like FE), but your leader’s main art is red. Also, while the sprite’s change to represent promoted classes, character art doesn’t. So I’ve got a ranger who has never loosed an arrow (they promoted to twin-swords immediately on joining), but his character art still has him with a quiver. Same for several others, holding weapons and wearing armour they haven’t used. There’s also the usual JRPG stuff of exposed thighs, cleavage and boobplate on veteran female knights, which is just ridiculous. However, all that crap at least is not embedded in the dialogue and story etc (and crucially the rather sweet romances), it’s just the single character portraits.

2) Irving, the main character. In most of the FE games, there’s a reason people follow the leader. Often they are royalty on the run with a handful of their best people, so it makes sense that every new recruit noticed who is in charge. In this though, Irving is just a rookie from a military school. By a few missions in, even his senior officers and officials from every organisation on the planet are deferring to him, seemingly for no good reason other than he hasn’t said anything offensive and is the generic anime teen with a sword. He’s amongst the least qualified people in the group for anything, knows nothing about what’s going on, is surrounded by more capable commanders, seers, leaders of organisations dedicated to opposing their enemy, veteran troops and royalty, and has very little stake in it compared to half a dozen of the others. But somehow is the centre of everything for reasons that aren’t really explained other than ‘you’re the player stand-in, therefore you must have leadership skills and everyone likes you’. JRPG cliche, but then it’s not like the story is a strength of the game here, the mechanics are.

These all sound really good, I can see why there’s hype behind it. Damn this year really is the year of the SRPG.

Finished up Dark Deity. Yeah, that was really good. There’s a nice range of scenarios and the class promotions offer a lot more variety than the older FE games. My criticisms don’t really change (and I’d add another minor one- you get item rewards for completing the missions faster, but the value of doing so is minuscule compared to soaking up xp by killing all the enemy, considering how the main battle maps are your only source of xp. Making speed a bit pointless in comparison). Story was very much by the numbers but the varied battles were interesting, and really it’s the mechanics, new concepts for SRPG classes and maps that I’ll remember.

I finished Disco Elysium a week or so ago, and I was not let down. A great experience all around. The performance was pretty bad especially when there were some more special weather or light effects going on, but most of that game happens in the dialogue anyway, and that's simply great. Really good voice acting too.

I must have bought Limbo three or four times by now, but finally I played through it on Switch. I may even prefer it to Inside!

Lastly, I tried out XCOM 2 for one mission. I tend to get a bit nervous about numbers on games, and this one lays a lot of them around, so let's see how it goes 😅.

Picked up The Messenger in the sale. Quite enjoying it so far, the humour is really good, I enjoy chatting with the shopkeeper!

I picked this up this week! Digital toy is a great way to put it, the game is a super simple streamlined experience that I've been enjoying more like a digital stress reliever or zen experience haha really like what it does though. I would like kick flips in there just for a little more variety in what you can do but yeah love it, good shout out.

I also grabbed Dawn of the Monsters, haven't had a chance to play that yet but it looks rad as hell and also Streets of Rage 4 in the indie darlings sale and wow 😍 they really nailed it, the game feels incredible. Cherry Hunter is specifically ridiculously fun to play as lol

Ok I’ve played 40 hours of Rune Factory 5 so here are my promised impressions:

1. Performance is not good. The game rarely feels like it’s 30 FPS. Rain makes it worse. Festival days have confetti falling and all the NPCs in 1 location which really tanks it. If you can’t deal with sub 30 fps then avoid!

2. I ADORE this game! It says something that I’m willing to deal with the terrible performance, but for once I’m just powering through it because:

3. RF5 is packed to the gills with content :) If you loved RF4 then it’s safe to say you will love this.

4. The characters are a really weird bunch in a good way. Interactions are great and it’s fun to see what people are going to say/do from one day to the next.

5. Everything is still skill based. You get a constant dopamine hit of “Skill Up!” while just playing the game. Crafting is important and there is a ton to learn and make.

6. This isn’t open world but it’s got what seems to be a pretty sizeable world to explore. The first Woodlands area is a big zone that has links to other areas and dungeons. You can warp around to/from all over at any time including warping right to your bed so you don’t have to run home for 15 minutes at 2AM lol.

7. Farming is fun and familiar. You unlock a lot of new seeds by completing Request Board items. Soil has quality levels and HP. There’s a lot going on here.

8. Lots of ways to restore your RP so you can go through more than just your 1 bar every day. Also, days are long here. I love it but ymmv. It’s WAY longer days than something like Stardew. But there is just so much to do that I appreciate it.

9. You will get more fields than just your starting ones. You build monster barns there and can tame tons of things that will give you items (milk, eggs, etc) daily but you can also have them water fields and plant crops and more.

10. You can take 3 people/monsters with you when out in the world. With a high enough heart level you can ask most everyone to join you for the day (they leave at 7pm). There are link attacks with your party members and they gain XP and level up as you fight together.

Ok there’s a bunch of random thoughts. Like I said this is a very RF, RF game lol. I’m having so much fun that yeah I’m putting up with the disappointing performance. I hope it releases on PC in the future. So, I highly recommend the game only if you will be able to deal with low fps. If you can’t then I don’t recommend it even to RF fans. 9/10 game with 3/10 performance!

Too bad about the performance issues but I am SALIVATING over everything else. I guess I'll get Kirby first and wait for a sale on this one.

Update OP with games that have been added. Here is the lineup for the March portion of next week.

Mar 29 CRYSTAR
Mar 29 Ikai
Mar 29 WRC 10 FIA World Rally Championship
Mar 29 Vengeful Heart
Mar 30 Agent Intercept
Mar 30 Take Off – The Flight Simulator
Mar 30 Catie in MeowmeowLand
Mar 30 Richy’s Nightmares
Mar 31 Marble Maid
Mar 31 COSPLAY LOVE! Enchanted princess
Mar 31 Broken Pipe
Mar 31 THE CARD Perfect Collection
Mar 31 DYSMANTLE
Mar 31 Glitchhikers: The Spaces Between
Mar 31 Red Wings: American Aces

Just FYI: Pending performance, Dysmantle was a really good time for me (played on Xbox).

It’s a zombie post apocalypse world where you have 1 huge open world and it’s a crafting/exploration game. There is a big crafting skill tree and basically everything in the world can be “dysmantled”. So you get more powerful tools as you progress and can break more down including whole towns including the houses/walls/street lights etc. it’s pretty wild and addictive.

Story is whatever. You start with a “find these 4 things big quest then get another “4” after that but it’s really to get you to all the new zones.

There is cold/heat too you must wear gear for or you take damage but you learn to craft it so no biggie.

Combat is ok - not the best but once you get it, it’s fine.

So if you are like me and love crafting/leveling stuff and DESTRUCTION! Then this will probably be right up your alley.

@Pixelknight Just wanted to thank you for your detailed Dark Deity thoughts. I re-watched some review videos last week and your post was way more in depth and exciting to read. I was hyped before but I'm excited to level up to the different classes so much now.
