Takahashi completely ignoring XCX actually only makes me think that it's even more likely that 3 will tie in to X. It'll be that much more surprising if attention isn't drawn to it, after all. Much like how he assured people that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was completely separate from the first Xenoblade Chronicles—yet that turned out to be a big lie. =P Also, with him saying that the concept for XC3's key art (and likely the core concepts of the game's story alongside it, I'd imagine) was decided sometime between when the development of the first Xenoblade Chronicles ended and the beginning of XC2's development...well, what else was he working on during that time? Xenoblade Chronicles X, of course. Hard to imagine that he'd have all these concepts thought up this far in advance and then just not factor XCX into anything at all. I feel like XCX has to be part of the bigger plan here in some way, and the mashed-up world we see in XC3 could end up explaining some of the more suspicious features of Mira's geography that seemed to hint at a connection to the first Xenoblade (like ruined geographical features that looks eerily similar to that of the Bionis and Mechonis, for example).
