Yeah - I was in Team 2023 for BotW2 but I think I'm leaning much more towards it being this year. Nintendo has no 'big end-of-year' game confirmed, and I doubt they'll announce something entirely brand new in the Summer Direct.
Yup. All previous big Christmas games (Odyssey, Smash, Pokémon) were announced by E3.

But man, seriously... Live A Live. A very clever story, char design by a bunch of top Mangaka (including Detective Conan creator Gosho Aoyama) and a wonderful OST by Yoko Shimomura. Pumped for this,

And yeah, Zelda is going to be their holiday title. No doubt about it. And I guess I need to try and get my hands on Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition finally. And FE: Three Houses. FFS, this year is a FEAST.

Brooo they are selling us up-res versions of the Mario Kart Tour courses. Thats why the graphics look odd. They just imported the courses and adjusted the lighting lol

the Live A Live 2DHD reveal is probably the coolest thing I've seen in a direct since like...the original Animal Crossing announcement

This game hit some big highs for me....

-Mario Kart 8 DLC over the next two years is amazing.
-I will spend hundreds of hours in Nintendo Sports Golf.
-Mario Strikers has been a long time coming for me.

Those three easily make this a great Direct for me. I can understand those wanting DK or Zelda though.

Front mission and Live a Live are pretty dope announcements too but Chrono Cross looked kind of crappy (still going to buy it though). I was expecting more.

Wonder if Fire Emblem Warriors was what the insiders were talking about and there was just a mixup or if we can still expect a brand new proper title?
I still think the next FE game will be a remake from IntSys, I doubt the next mainline game (from KT) would be ready so soon.

Going to be nice to transition from a Nintendo doomer to a cheerleader again.

This feels like 2017 part 2.

The Direct was great and what is also great about this Direct is that you can clearly see that they are holding stuff back for the E3 Direct.

They didn't announce any game that doesn't release past September. I really wonder what the October and November games are gonna be - and there is a chance for a December game as well.

I have to say, the pace of Directs are getting better and better. Other than those two playing volleyball, the pacing was perfect. I am on the thinking of Jim Ryan, "let the game do thr talking".

Very solid direct. I was hoping for a new Tomodachi Life and a new Fire Emblem but what we got was good too. The new Kirby looks amazing. So did Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and the other stuff.

So, you need to gave played both XC games to play 3?

Do i need to have played FE TH to play the Warriors game?
Nintendo’s tweet about FETH Warriors was that it’s a “different story in the same universe” - and based on characters designs, I’m going to say no, you don’t have to play Three Houses to enjoy Three Hopes.

You don’t really have to play the main games for any of the game-specific Warrior games, like Age of Calamity and Scramble. It’s definitely nice going into the game with pre-established relationships and familiarity with the area, especially as you unlock new warriors. But it’s not necessary, and you may even enjoy the game more seeing each new character as a blank slate.

(But you should totally play Three Houses if you’re into those types of games. It’s a fantastic entry in the series.)

If FF1-6 was there then it’d be a 10/10. I give it a 9/10 regardless. I’m not gonna hate on Mario Kart dlc. I’m excited for that!

That was the biggest omission for me as well. When they got to the collections segment, I was expecting that and Mega Man.

Fami I'm so shocked I can't speak. That was megaton after megaton. Sounded like fanfic material to me. If any fake leak listed everything that just happened I would laugh.

I mean, let's just fucking analyse how everything was just NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED, AND AT THE SAME TIME SUPER INCREDIBLE AND GREAT!!!

- Fire Emblem Warriors Three Houses: would I prefer a new FE? Maybe. But damn, I'm in love with Three Houses and I'll love to revisit it. Also we can still have a new game or remake coming soon.

- Nintendo Switch Sports: I saw that joy con play and thought "well there's 3-4 Switch, let's see if it's as bad as we expected", then damn, it's a sequel/reboot to one of the most beloved franchises of Wii, with redesign, good graphics, lots of modes and demo coming!!!

- MARIO STRIKERS: I just couldn't believe when I saw it. Seriously, I thought Nintendo wouldn't revive this. But they did. Wow. Just wow.

- No Man's Sky on the Switch: new impossible port, a very popular game, welcome!!

- Square Enix serving everything with 2D HD remasters AND Chrono Cross remaster being announced first by Ninty!!! I mean I surely didn't expect this lol

- Salmon Run sequel, that's good

- Metroid Dread free DLC: something we all predicted and hoped but I don't think any of us actually thought was gonna actually happen and for free

- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC: JUST WHAT??? I thought that they were gonna announce 9 for sure, then there's just MK 8 but as dlc for 8 lol. And I'm sure AS HELL everyone thought that ship had sailed lol. After five years!!!!

- Quality material on remasters, ports, revivals, budget price games: gimme gimme

- Mother 1+2: that one I definysaw after the retweet, but excited nonetheless!!

- Nintendo promoting a PlayStation game: what a time to be alive lol.(and also an Xbox game later!!)

- Advance Wars is packed!! Kirby looks even bigger than expected!!

- then for the grand final, we have Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and the emotional atmosphere, plot of colliding worlds, soundtrack, OPEN WORLD FEEL LIKE X(??), graphics, damn, everything so perfect!! AND SEPTEMBER YOU PEOPLE!! I ALWAYS EXPECTED THAT IN MY LISTS LOOOOOLLLL!! (Also team 2023 for Zelda, October and November are still empty).

I just loved everything. I'm getting Switch Online now lol. I think I don't have the money to get with the expansion but the normal one feels good enough for me now just for the free trial of Switch Sports, Mother and SNES games I have yet to play. The game trials too, I completed Captain Toad that way lol.

FIRST FAMI DIRECT WAS GREAT!!! I LOVE Y'ALL!!! hope everyone got something to look forward ❤️❤️❤️ this event literally took depression away from me, so I'm super happy

The E3 direct should be amazing. Full BotW2 blowout, full Bayo 3 blowout, if we haven't already gotten it by then a full Splatoon 3 blowout, and a full Xenoblade 3 blowout.

Throw in a couple good announcements and it'll be a top tier Direct

So tired now, haha. But vibrating with hype over Kirby, Mario Strikers, Xenoblade and Chrono Cross, all four of which looks FANTASTIC.

Thanks for this Direct, everyone <3

The pacing of Directs Is getting Better and Better. FE Warriors Is a huge meh to me, but Xeno 3 in September Is God-Tier. Pretty solid reveal for Strikers and Switch Sports, 2022 seems really a ridicoulos food year

The bushes are exactly the same model as in Mario Kart Tour…

I'm re watching the Japanese one just to pay more attention on the trailers and see if there's any game only there

From what was dated today, I can see it being something like this for the full year:

June: Mario Strikers, FE warriors
July / August: Splatoon 3
September: Xenoblade 3
October: Bayonetta 3
November: BOTW 2

They will probably announce something for July/August at E3

I need to sleep soon but:

  • FE Warriors in Fodlan was a thing I thought we'd see at some point. I definitely expect it to be the "we all team up" version of the story. I love the characters and world, but I hope there's more to it gameplay wise than the first FEW. Greater character variety would go a long way to improving the experience.
  • Switch Sports and Mario Strikers are great IP reboots for a lot of people; personally I'm not too fussed about either. But they do add IP and genre variety to this year so kudos. Friends of mine will love Sports especially.
  • Kart getting DLC after 5 years on the market is perhaps the most Nintendo thing. I'm glad it's included in the NSO Expansion Pack, though the price is pretty good for the purchase. Disappointed they've stopped at tracks and there's no mention of characters or modes.
  • Kirby looks stunning. Seriously, as a non-fan of the series, I have really high hopes for it.
  • Xenoblade 3 looks promising on first viewing. Really fascinated to see how they tie these worlds and characters together. The fact it's a September release (another thing I'd said could happen! Hooray!) is also good.
  • Live A Live is a great announcement. Definitely the surprise of the whole thing and yet another RPG on my purchase list.
  • lack of a date for Splatoon 3 was a bit annoying, but I'm assuming it's July or August based on how everything else is shaping up.

So yeah. Good stuff, even if my socks are still on and not blown off. Excited to learn more about Xenoblade 3, especially.

Mario Kart has taken the mantle from Smash as the game that will get DLC updates for the foreseeable future in upcoming directs!

I agree. Was underwhelming to me. But we haven’t seen single player really so that could change my mind.
Yeah single-player should hopefully be dope. Octo Expansion was incredible so they've got the chops for it.

They did not show a lot to get excited about. This game needs its own direct.
Yeah - but, I don't know, it feels like they've yet to show anything that'll make my issues with prior games less certain. Hell, this trailer just confirmed to me that Salmon Run is once again gonna be a clusterfuck where winning or losing is a coin-toss.

Personally I'd be really happy with just some QoL improvements - like being able to choose what game modes to play, or being able to play more than 2 maps at once - but after two games of it I doubt they're gonna be making these games any more "time-friendly."
