Oof. Between this and GTA trilogy, seems like there are a couple of games out there that need a little more time in the oven. Can't even imagine how bad development was on Switch that they had to delay it at the 11th hour but still went ahead with the other platforms

Making games during a pandemic has gotta be tough

@mazi

Does the SEGA Picross have 3D audio? It's subtle, but I'm using headphones on the train and it seems like the music is stereo and moves like marking are binaural/thrown forwards.

I might just be imagining it, but it was enough to make me take off my headphones and make sure they were plugged in properly.
i really don't know, i play the picross games listening to podcasts/my own music, never really listen to the games audio.

From Konami's latest earning report, upcoming Switch games include eBaseball, GetsuFumaDen, and possibly Edens Zero:

Bandai Namco is hiring engineers to develop an open world game engine:

Perhaps one of those is going to be the Wallace & Gromit open world game:

I’ve seen some folks online say “where’s Nintendo these days, it’s all about the other two consoles now”… and then you see these figures and are reminded that Nintendo is on its own level right now. It’s ridiculous.

And here I thought there wasn’t anything that could make me interested in a Bandai Namco game, how wrong I was.

Interesting that Advance wars isn’t listed for Japan. Is it releasing there? I know Days of Ruin didn’t release at all and was only a Club Nintendo release, so not surprised honestly if they didn’t release it there.

seems like Advance Wars remake is more of a Nintendo of America or Nintendo of Europe decision. And it will certainly be announced for Japan in the next direct.

The Wii U to Switch is the greatest turnaround in video game history. I don’t think we’ll ever see this kind of turnaround again.

Okay, okay, we've all seen the numbers. It's old news now. Can we please move on and discuss this gif of a duck on a swing? It's wild.

Nintendo chief Furukawa said in November that the company plans to spend up to 100 billion yen to strengthen its game development arsenal, with a focus on promoting organic growth. On Thursday, he reiterated that Nintendo plans no change in its investment policy, though he also said that the company isn’t against acquisitions if those are necessary.

“Our brand was built upon products crafted with dedication by our employees, and having a large number of people who don’t posses Nintendo DNA in our group would not be a plus to the company,” Furukawa said.

Good to see. Never made sense to add outside studios when they can expand under their own umbrella/culture and likely poach a ton of that talent anyway. I’m sure that YouTube channels and random tweets will run with the last part only though.

From the same Bloomberg article linked above:

"Switch is just in the middle of its lifecycle and the momentum going into this year is good,” Furukawa said on a call after the earnings report. “The Switch is ready to break a pattern of our past consoles that saw momentum weakening in their sixth year on the market and grow further."

Edit: That Bloomberg headline is ... a choice
