Mitsuda put together his band Millennial Fair and has done concerts of Chrono and Xenogears OSTs, so I wouldn't put it past him to team up with ACE+ and do a XB concert as well.
Btw have you seen the concerts he did for Chrono Cross and Xenogears???
I haven't seen any of the concerts as I didn't know they existed and haven't played any of them (yet), but I'll take a look at them cause Mitsuda is dope.

They.
Are.
Awesome.
He brings in Anuna and Joanne Hogg for the Xenogears one (Anuna is the choir he worked with for XB2 and Hogg did the original XG vocals), and a singer/violinist named Sarah Alainn for the Chrono Cross one (and she cosplays as Schala during the performance!!!), and the musicians are all top-notch. I was crying at some points, they really are fantastic concerts. Absolute must if you're a Mitsuda fan.

Although they are a bit spoilery I guess if you haven't played the games yet. 😅

Xenogears concert is musical bliss but admittedly it loses quite a bit if you haven't played the game, as it tries to chain songs and visual effects/game footage in a way that makes sense to the audience. The ending is also pure kino.
I want that version of Fuse to play in a future Xenogears trailer btw

I feel it's necessary to inform the Xenofam that I am being served tonight by a waitress named Nia.
I've never seen that name in the wild before. I'm more impressed by this than I probably aughta be. It's the little things sometimes.

Man I hope we get a xenoblade 3 or some other monolith project reveal next direct, been really dry in terms of monolith news lately.

This is an omen, Xenoblade 3 reveal will be happening soon, I know it will!

Got a PS2 for Christmas, so I might actually play through the Xenosaga trilogy soon. Seems like a good time to try and do that when the more future oriented parts of Future Connected apparently drew on that pretty heavily.

Anything I should know before I get too deep into that? So far I've mostly just gotten through the tutorial on a borrowed Xenosaga 1 disc. I've gotten the impression that using a guide for the second game would probably be a good idea, and I vaguely remember something about required reading between games, but it's been a while since I last looked into this stuff.

All 3 games are pretty straightforward and linear. Depending on what side content you want to do though, a guide is pretty much required. Looking up a guide for Episode II's battle system probably wouldn't be a bad idea either.

For the required reading, you'll first want to read Pied Piper in some form after Episode I and before Episode II. It has pretty much all of a character's back story that will be more relevant later into II and III.

Next is A Missing Year. That is meant to be read between Episode's II and III. It give a ton of important back story for plot points in Episode III.

After you've completed those, you could also check out Xenosaga Perfect Guide which is like the Xenosaga equivalent of Xeneogears Perfect works.

For posterity, TV Asahi did a 3 hour program on most beloved videogames in Japan according to a poll conducted on 50.000 people. The program was a a success and is currently trending in the country, with people like Shigeru Miyamoto and Masahiro Sakurai talking about it. Three Xeno games managed to rank in the top 100:

Xenoblade 2 in 35th place

Xenogears in 40th place

Xenoblade in 43rd place

Honestly surprised (but happy) to see Gears rank so high. I expected the two Blade games to do well but seeing Gears still leave its mark is impressive.

I expected gears to be the highest ranked one, it always struck me as being more popular than the blade games

Yeah, I'm so thirsty for Xeno-news... If we are lucky in the next two months we'll get something...

Very happy to have this thread as the Xeno Series is one of my favorite series of all time. Xenoblade Chronicles is in my top five games of all time as well.

I just recently got ahold of a PS2 slim. So I sold a few things and grabbed the Xenosaga trilogy which I've never been able to play before. I'm part of the way through episode 1 now and loving it so far. Really hoping for a Xenoblade Chronicles X port and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 announcement soon.

certainly this will be the third pillar JRPG series for nintendo aside of pokemon and fire emblem (Mario is no longer a jrpg as Mario and Luigi is gone and Paper Mario is now more like an adventure game)

The madlad who originally uploaded the full Xenogears Orchestra has now reuploaded it. I highly recommend anyone whose into Xenogears check it out; all of the new renditions are great. The new rendition of Flight (which happens to be at 1:15:25) had me tearing up.

great to see it back up, fantastic concert especially with the added ANUNA elements

Anyone who is active on twitter and happens to be following Soraya Saga may want to chime in with a good word here. This isn't the first time she's posted things like this, so I think she'd really appreciate the positive support.

So I got Xenoblade Chronicles DE around launch in 2020 right.. And I've yet to finish it. I really, REALLY love the game and since Xeno 3 is supposed to release this year, I got a question for everyone. Should I buy XC2 and Torna like now and try to finish them both before XC3 releases? I really want them physical, and I've been told they're both very rare and expensive (especially Torna) but I found them listed new for 60 (XC2) and 55 (Torna). Should I go for it or save it up? Mind you I don't have a lot of money but it's not that I need to pay bills or anything either, still live at home too.

If you found them both, I'd go for it. Only because I saw what Xenoblade Wii prices did back in the day when that print run ended and it seems like the "rare" used games never want to go down once a new "norm" is set.

i bought them lol, I am weak. 250 hours of JRPG here I come

Yeah “wine cellar” those for sure. I got lucky when I was trying to downsize my CE copy a couple years ago. Game had just gone OOP so I was still able to get a copy without much overhead.

It's weird how impossible it is to get the physical release in the US, when here in Europe I can still pick it up in quite a few stores. Torna, not so much, that ones is a bit harder to get by, but the main game is readily available still.

We Europeans have impeccable taste!

I am happy to announce that I have beaten Xenoblade Chronicles DE and therefore, all Xenoblade games.
Now let me rank them
  1. Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Best main team of characters, love each and every one of them. Best combat and overall gameplay, Best pacing out of the 3, Music is godly and the best in the series, better level design than 1
  2. Xenoblade Chronicles DE: Best story ot of the 3, great Villains in Egil and Zanza and Dickson, great music and most interesting world
  3. Xenoblade Chronicles X: Best exploration, great map, really good music, complete dissapointement of a story, bad pacing for the story, only interesting character was Elma. Can't say alot about the combat because it's been almost 6 years since I last played it and I don't remember alot. but my thoughts are basically the same as 1's combat. Really needs a sequel to complete the story

That's my opinion too, although, I'm not sure if DE or 2 is my first choice (the Wii version has been my first game after all).

More or less like my own ranking, but I'd argue that the best "villains" are on Xenoblade 2. Also the character development is better on 2, and X has a great lore, too (if you have the time and patience to uncover it with the hundreds of side quests...).

Similar to my rankings, though I like X more than 1 for its combat and exploration. I like very game though and I'm glad to see people continue to engage with this series!

When 2 first came out I wasn't very happy with it, I had already finished the base game before all the updates came so it's still hard to put aside some of the issues I had with the gameplay. I'd still put it below 1, but combined with Torna I can definitely look over those grievances and say it's better than X overall. Torna made their vision for the game a lot more clear to me, and I wish the base game played as smoothly as it did.

I want to play Xenoblade Chronicles 3 please
We're all waiting... I've been expecting an announcement since last year's spring Direct, so I've pretty much had my expectations betrayed each Direct of last year. Now I'm really hoping for the announcement next Direct, it can't keep on waiting.

Have you played Xenoblade 2's main game + Torna or just the main game?

I have high hopes for the next direct. I know better than to put too much stock in rumors, but there’s been so many corroborating the same thing (that the games almost done/was originally meant to release last year/etc).

So I’m feeling good, but who knows.

For me, Xenoblade 1 still slightly edges 2 because it took me some chapters to fully get into Xenoblade 2. The first hours of the game are very slow in my opinion, and the beginning of Xenoblade 1 did a better job in terms of catching my attention, making me care about the story and characters. Xenoblade 2 really takes off approximately in the middlegame, and then it's just fantastic until the end, both in terms of story and gameplay. There were some hurdles with the combat system at first, but now i'd probably agree with you and put its combat system and soundtrack ahead of the first game's by a small margin. Still haven't played Xeno X... I hope it comes to the Switch someday

I've grown to love the Xenoblade franchise a lot since I first started playing them when 2 came out. I've played 2, Torna, and DE so far with X on the to do list when it gets ported some day. I am curious about Xenogears and Saga as well.

I actually just made a fan cinematic trailer for Xenoblade 2 to show my affection and exercise making trailers as one who hopes to one day make a new Xenoblade trailer.

As an old Xeno fan, Xenoblade 2 has the top spot because it's pretty much a rebirth of the series. But I love all of them. Each one does something better and worse than the others.

Same.

Any time now Nintendo, I'm ready.

Very well done! Much better than a lot of "official" trailers they put out. I always look forward to seeing others creative Xeno content like this.

As a fellow Xeno fan and Xeno video maker, I hope it's ok that I share my Xenoblade, Xenosaga, and Xenogears retrospective tribute video I made showing the connections and themes this long running series has. I love the series and it means so much to me and I love making these tribute ones. Even if I'm the only one that watches them 😁

Awesome video, yes the story repeats and thats why I think somebringer is coming back as xenoblade 3, or atleast something similar like xenogears with xenoblade 2.

Guys I need your help: Im a huge fan of Xenoblade Chronicles 1, 2 and Torna, and my boyfriend's favourite game is Xenogears. He has never played any of the other Xeno games, and I would like him to try Xenoblade in my Switch. What are the philosophical themes connecting Xenoblade and Xenogears? I want to sell him these games as something he may enjoy if he likes Xenogears, but he was put off by a video that depicted Xenoblade's 2 story as childish.

For anyone interested, Nate touched on XC3 on his podcast today. Seems like he thinks that the info he shared last year basically got pushed back a year.

Was originally planned as a reveal early 2021/release late 2021 and is now expected for a reveal early 2022/release late 2022.

Honestly, I haven't played any Xenogears, but Xenogears and Xenoblade have the same director so he's bound to find recurring themes (Gnosticism and shiz) in Xenoblade. He could watch Luxin since he has a lot of videos of the whole Xeno series (be careful with spoilers).

I believe Xenoblade 1 would be an easier transition from Xenogears than starting with Xenoblade 2. I think @chocolate_supra and a few others have played all Xeno games so they can probably give a better answer than me.

You did a fantastic job as well on your tribute video! 👏 👏 And thank you for your kind words!

Xenoblade 2 is probably the most similar to Xenogears, as the plot is, in many ways, very heavily inspired by Xenogears' plot (to the point that some think it might be the Xenoblade version of Episode 5 in the Xenogears Perfect Works timeline*, with Torna as Episode 4), but it's also pretty overtly... anime in a way that Xenogears wasn't and might put off someone predisposed to think of it as "childish". Xenoblade 1 is a bit different from the other Xeno games (which makes sense because it wasn't intended to be one at first), but it does go in pretty hard on the Gnosticism themes that are present to varying degrees in the other games, and is generally probably the best entry point into the Xenoblade games.

* If you're not aware, Xenogears pulled a Star Wars and declared itself to be "Episdode V" of a planned six part series at the very end, with the other entries roughly laid out in a timeline in the Perfect Works art book. I believe Xenosaga was supposed to be a second attempt to tell the story from the beginning that, suffice to say, did not work out. It is thought by some that Xenoblade is pivoting into becoming attempt #3 now that Monolith is in a much more stable and productive position than they were on the previous two attempts.

"the game is nearing its final stages of development"
"development on Xenoblade 3 went much, much smoother"

Actual statements from last year regarding this supposed game
