News Pokémon Presents Scheduled for February 27 2024 at 6am PST

Not a Pokémon person in general but (and I'm going to age myself on the younger side this year) I remember Black and White being the biggest deals when I was young at school with my friends. I'm curious what they plan with Unova, and if it's a Legends game then I might check it out (since I enjoyed Arceus)

I'd unironically love another Let's Go game. I thought the first one was decent, but I've found myself coming back to it more often lately. There's something charming about the presentation, and shiny hunting in it can be pretty addicting...

It’s funny because I sort have the opposite issue. I loved pokemon in the late 90’s up until 2004 or 5, then I went into highschool and just was not interested at all when the ds games were coming out. Now that I’ve gotten into Pokemon again, largely thanks to lets go, I’ve been more interested in revisiting the games I missed.

I did skip the diamond and pearl remakes in favorite of just tracking down an og version to play on my 3ds though. Hopefully black and white remakes are abit less cheap and phone game looking than brilliant diamond and shining pearl are

Really hoping for a Mystery Dungeon game, remake or new and a traditional remake of Black/White.

While I had fun with Legends: Arceus, the "serial catcher" vibes I get from it, Let's Go and Go really put me off from these games. Something about the games revolving around capturing pokemon just to discard them is just a bit sad when compared to the monster raising aspects of the more traditional games in the series.

Parroting others, I would be more than happy with another Legends or Let's Go, let alone both. Chances are fairly likely I'll be happy

Another Mystery Dungeon remake had been rumored for last year's Pokemon Presents already (some copyright stuff, I think?) but nothing really came from it. Maybe this is the year. Though I'd prefer a new one with new Pokemon.

Hoping we get something new on Switch, new Legends game would be awesome, as Arceus was my favourite Pokémon game in years, while all the other recent games disappointed me somehow.
Like of course it could use some better tech and make the battles less throwaway (other than that gauntlet before and with Giratina).

I would also welcome any other non-mobile spinoff tbh.

I want pixel perfect releases of Red, Blue and Yellow:

  • Looks exact same but in widescreen
  • Both original GameBoy grayscale and Super Gameboy color options available
  • Modernized, no more mistakes like Wrap moves that lock you or inescapable Freeze
  • Modern boxes with Pokémon icons
  • And of course, online support.
You only want better boxes? What about the item inventory? There's much more QoL stuff missing in the originals.

Yeah those too. There are too many broken stuff in the original games, it should be possible to fix all of them without compromising the overall feel of the games. Item management and the bag limit are few of them, yes.

Hoping for an NSO release of gens 1-3 so I can return to Johto.

I don't do avatar bets but I'm inclined to do one now because I'm pretty sure Unova remakes are not happening and everyone seems to think otherwise

The realistic options given that the Pokémon company is extremely hesitant to skip a year is that it's another remake, which either means gen 2 (let's go?) or 5, which they could have outsourced, or somehow a legends game, which isn't the most practical of ideas since they would probably want to develop that internally

This will be our first pokemon presents with Pyoro as a leaker so can we please not post what he teases or says in this thread please?

A remake has never been announced so shortly after the last, they're usually 7 years apart and that makes sense because otherwise they would be soon remaking modern gens and missing the nostalgia factor. They've been strictly one gen per system so far.

Realistically GF will do whatever they feel like doing, this past gen they subverted everyone's expectations several times (LGPE when people where expecting Stars, Legends coming from nowhere, then announcing gen 9 mere months after Legends when people were expecting DLC). They likely will have something for this year, it's just not going to be Unova remakes in the traditional sense. Might be something no one would ever predict.

No mainline pokemon games on NSO still?
At this, ILCA B/W Remake is possible, so is Legends Unova/One Dragon, WhiteGold Black Silver, Pokemon Gray, B3/W3

It’d be veeery disappointing if nothing Unova happens or they sabe it for Summer

I would love Let's Go Johto, but I'm not sure they would bother, Pokémon Go isn't as popular as it was in 2018.

The dream would be Legends Johto. But I'm keeping an open mind, hoping they will surprise me with something good. Honestly, if we get Pinball GBC on NSO this will already be a 10/10 Presents for me.

My gut feeling is that we’re in for BDSP scale Johto remakes this year, maybe Let’s Go styled if we’re lucky. I don’t think Unova is coming until 2025, assuming it’s a Legends game. Given the reception to SV, and the fact the 30th anniversary is in 2026, I think GameFreak will be granted an extra year of dev time on Gen 10.

What if they just took heart gold and soul silver and put them on switch? I seen them running on emulators on pc and I think the art and sprites hold up fine at higher resolutions

It was successful but it ran like garbage so unless they segregate the open world like they did in Legends, I don’t have high hopes. It turns out loading screens are quite useful!
that's what drake is for!

Let's Go Johto is just so redundant. like ugh, a second remake? it was already bad enough that Gen 1 got a second remake, but at least that had "Pokemon Go hype" justification. just put the old games on NSO with Bank support

What I'd like to see:
1. Any new Legends game
2. Let's Go Johto or Let's Go Unova
3. Pokken 2

No thanks:
1. BDSP style remakes of Unova (or anything)
2. New casual spinoff (like pokemon rumble etc)
3. More DLC for S/V
4. Mobile stuff

Don't care:
NSO games

Realistically: Mediocre Black and White remakes
Somewhat Optimistic: classic Pokemon games on NSO
Probably not but maybe?: Legends game or spinoff
Not happening: Pokemon fans being happy

Next open world Pokemon will most likely be for switch 2 anyway.
Hopefully they'll cap it at 30fps so that it can run smoothly.

I agree with you and wouldn't mind at all if they made huge areas like in Legends (in fact, I think Legends was a better game than SV), it's the open style of gameplay that matters to me, not as much the world being all open per se. But making their games run well hasn't really been a priority for GF lately, so...

In fact, I think the best case scenario would be the next gen mixes the classic style linear routes connecting large open areas like Legends. We should also have designed dungeons and caves, and hell, put a loading screen to enter those and buildings if that's what it takes to have interior spaces back. The exploration in SV and Legends is what the series needed and they nailed it, the whole world being accessible from the beginning isn't really necessary (in fact, I would like a bit more structure so the challenge can be scaled appropriately).

Either Let's Go Johto or BW remakes in the Let's Go visual style would be great. Or HD2D, just don't do the chibi plastic shit please.

Yeah, no way we're getting that.
We haven't had a dungeon or a decently designed cave since BW. Performance issues are not what's keeping them from doing it.

I hope gen 5 remakes look fantastic but I will get a little tilted if Gen 3 and 5 get great remakes and 4 was damned lol

at least we got Arceus

I know, but one can dream. In 2019 we were begging for 3D camera movement and now we have a fully realized open world game. I think GF suffered on the transition to 3D but is slowly getting their shit together.

I would pay GameFreak/TPC 70 US dollars to not release a mainline game/remake this year and just spend more time on dev.

It's okay, they saved themselves an out - they can remake Platinum later down the line and do it properly!

Legends please

Even if it runs like crap, that'd be better than whatever horrific remakes we'd get. Hopefully they fix the combat if we get another one
