Let's have some fun. Let's see how many times reviews from the top 10 video game review outlets (according to eBiz) mentions the terms "DLC" or "downloadable content" in their reviews for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

According to eBiz, the top ten video game websites (that do reviews for console games) by traffic are:

1. IGN
2. Gamespot
3. Kotaku
4. N4G
5. The Escapist
6. Neoseeker
7. Giant Bomb
8. Joystiq / Engadget
9. Gamesradar
10. (There wasn't a tenth so I'll pick) Eurogamer

In regards to the list, I skipped website that didn't do reviews, didn't do console game reviews, and are chest websites that haven't written a Nintendo reviews in years.

None.

(Is there a reason this couldn’t be in the Metacritic prediction thread?)

"DLC this is not"

stuff like that I expect, so a decent number of times. some previews already had that
Yeah technically this does count as an instance of "DLC" so I might need to change my vote

Voted 1-10 because there's probably going to be some contrarian person who mentions it to not dismiss it ("I can't shake the feeling that this feels like an admittedly quite expansive DLC for BoTW" or something like that), but I expect the phrasing you mentioned quite a lot

A lot. Even when defending the game and saying it isn't a DLC. Though by the impressions most will be defending it.

Here's my prediction of quotes for three references to DLC in reviews:

"My big question was... Does Link Cry? "
"I Don't Like Caves."
"These weapons have Durability Like Crayons"

if someone says the game is dlc i will launch a hypersonic missle at them(theres a hidden base in my house)

Assuming the hype I've seen isn't just from Nintendo fans overselling something, I wouldn't expect it it in many reviews at all.

Yeah, this is going to be the main complaint by far.
I honestly don't see this happening even if people are weirdly convinced of it

Maybe if the game had poor performance but it doesn't really look that way. At most some will lament the fact that it isn't 1080p+ and 60fps but it's not going to get docked for it, and I imagine it'll be far more common to praise the game for making the most out of dated hardware than anything

Literally every other Switch review mentions this lol, even for games far less technically demanding than TotK. Not saying points will necessarily get docked for it but there is no chance in hell you won't hear qualifiers like "Even on Nintendo's aging hardware..." or some such, it's literally a review buzzword/cliche

does it count if its kinda sound positive? Like here I've seen some publications that have titles like "More than just DLC"

It's going to be a lot, because people are going to compare the game to the BotW + the BotW DLC.

Pretty much every feature of the BotW DLC has been adapted into TotK's base game in some way, other than explicitly Hard Mode, but even that has some obvious nods. It is not remotely subtle that they are using the BotW+DLC as the baseline, and not just the core BotW.
