yes, thats literally what 'the meta' means in this instance lol. metas evolve as games do, even without balance patches. super smash bros melee is an excellent example of that. balance patches force meta evolution too! thats nothin' new. its still 'the meta.' its really just defined by what the highest echelon of players think is the most effective way to win.
and ofc solo ranked queue will be different. the meta doesnt matter as much as you go down in the ranks and high level competitive play is something even beyond what a normal player who can get into S+ right now is likely to ever experience (other than maybe high end X battles once those are released)
that said it WILL have a trickle down effect to solo queue, especially in the upper fraction of the ranks. i only really started playing splat 3 ranked this past week and once i hit A, A+ and S I started seeing tons more crab tanks (and i made note of this before even looking at any sort of competitive meta so its not confirmation bias lol).
A meta doesn't need to be one solid thing for months to be a meta. Especially this early, things are gonna shift around with the most miniscule changes or discoveries. That doesn't mean it's not a "meta" or that there doesn't need to be monitoring and balance tweaking to make sure things don't get out of hand. There's no preset time frame for a meta, it's just about what's considered good right now.I think you're still missing the part where this claim is being made based on a handful of tournaments in one region over the course of two weeks. For about this same period of time a couple months ago, double Sloshing Machine on both teams was "the meta" by that definition, and yes there were even screenshots of Japanese teams using triple Machine. And then it faded away (and no, not because the wall hitbox glitch got patched). Like I said before, this stuff always happens in Splatoon and it never actually becomes "the meta." It's just... two weeks.

marie is best girl so it tracks that she uses a better weaponthe only meta that matters is the fact that callie is an idiot and uses roller while marie is a snob and uses charger

The problem is that swimming usually gets you killed anyways bc you don't have your protection AoE and you don't have a weapon to paint for yourselfonce ink vac users collectively remember they can swim I think things will be better
TILonce ink vac users collectively remember they can swim I think things will be better
How would you improve it?Ink Vac just gets bullied by everything it's funny when you're the Splatana and you go to schlap them but I can't imagine that's fun being on the receiving end

How would you improve it?
On top of my head:
- Some armor when it's full (like the Booyah! Bomb).
- Being able to to fire the shot even if it's not completely charged.
- More/better mobility when walking or swimming.
- Absorbing the enemy ink on the floor so it wouldn't be that easy to get behind the user.
I really like the idea of cancelling the vac early to fire the shot at will. I think the size of the vac protection AoE should also be increased BUT make it not cover the user. How would you improve it?

The problem is that it barely impact the game besides SUPER situational moments, at which point it's uncounterable. I think buffing it but making it more counterable would be the way to goInk vac is fine it's just situational. It's a support special so goofballs trying to use it all by their lonesome are always going to look dumb. Buff it even a bit and it would be too strong when used correctly
I agree they should monitor things. What something looks like over such a short span of time in a localized setting is cause to pay attention and see if it needs balancing, it's not cause to pull the trigger.A meta doesn't need to be one solid thing for months to be a meta. According to the page they'll have a "digital version" of the catalog to browse here. Was there one for the previous season? I love this hi-res render.Nintendo Magazine 2022 winter | 任天堂

tbh, and i felt this way since splatoon 2 changed how ranking works too, i kinda wish splatoon 1s ranking system was what they continued to use.
at least as far as how easy it is to derank. i genuinely feel like S rank is full of people who do not deserve to be in the rank at all lol. in splatoon 1 once i got s/s+ the rounds with people not playing objectives or just acting generally clueless were few and far between. if you didnt consistently play well you just lost rank. period.
3 leaving people in S whether they have an idea of what theyre doing or not feels kinda frustrating and seems to lead to less balanced matchmaking.

yeah it seems bad for all involved. i recognize that making it to the highest ranks feels good and that losing that rank feels bad and i can understand why theyd wanna eliminate the latter from a player's experience, but the difference between the competitive skill level in A/A+ and S is stark.Having no way for people to rank down other than waiting for a season to end is a massive mistake. By the sheer mathematics behind it, as the general populace rank up more, a lot of people are going to eventually end up in the S rank pool who maybe would be served better in the A/A+ pool but now they're stuck there.
These magazines are really cool. I appreciate them having an english version. I never knew Nintendo made magazines.Nintendo Magazine 2022 summer | 任天堂

goo tuber kinda cracked tho, didnt expect to like it but being able to roll a torpedo and pop a shot off to combo kill at close ranges is hotthanks to mahi mahi (the most broken map) I got goo tuber to fresh and never have to play it again
beyond sick of this thing
looking forward to getting the pencil to 3 or 4 star (shoot me)
Same! I think it needs the burst bomb, no other sub can compare to it for stamper. I do hope zipcaster gets a little something though, it feels a bit weak. I often don't use the stamper itself unless I get the drop on an eliter or explosher, otherwise I just try to slam into the enemies and immediately zip away since fighting 1v1 often gets me killed. Now that I actually understand both Stamper and Zipcaster I don't think I'll care about any other kit tbh. It's just way too fun as is
lol that timingSplatana Stamper is the most fun weapon they have ever created, but it has a very steep learning curve, and so many people will never appreciate it bc of that
Sometimes I'm patient enough to zip to an elevated spot at a safe distance and at least annoy short-range shooters from there, or just straight up get unchallenged kills. When I have a Tacticooler with me though idc kamikaze is 100% worth it, it takes so much attention away from the rest of my team (not sure if that works as well at higher levels though, still a noob ). And zipping through/to Crabs, Vacs, Bubblers? Some of the most satisfying plays everSame! I think it needs the burst bomb, no other sub can compare to it for stamper. I wouldn't say no to some sort of small buff though, unless it's something boring like HP/armor
Here's the first idea that came into my mind for a buff.
Seems about right. Although I don't see as many Sloshing Machine users as I used to anymore.Turf War meta, everyone
Yeah, everyone stopped using machine when they realized splash was just as strong but 10x easier to useSeems about right. Although I don't see as many Sloshing Machine users as I used to anymore.
They are going to nerf the crab and leave the missiles intact, aren't they?
iirc the common opinion is that splatzones is greatly worsened by the modern map design, including eeltail and undertow. mako and hagglefish are good though (imho), and it's probably my personal favorite mode regardless.is it just me or is splatzones kinda fuckin miserable in this game? i remember liking it quite a lot in splatoon 1 and 2, but gosh some of these maps are painfully unfun. especially the ones on rotation right now (eeltail alley and especially undertwo spillyway).
