I found myself in a stream today lol

My team got destroyed, but at least I can say I got a few kills on a pro player.

I have found myself in a couple of streams as well. One was absolutely hilarious cause the streamer was after me, yelled and cursed my name a lot. It kinda felt good kicking their ass live while they kept getting mad :p

Finished my first fit!

Had an impossible time finding head gear and shoes to go with what I had available in shirts until the Great Hugefry In The Sky blessed me with Salmon Run shades that had one of my three desired mains and came with two subs of Ink Saver (Main) right out of the box.

The six subs of Ink Saver (Main) in total take the Explosher from 8 sloshes off a full tank, 4 after one use of Point Sensor, and 0 after two uses of Point Sensor to exactly 11 sloshes, 6 sloshes and 1 slosh; or 2 sloshes with Ink Saver (Sub) factored in. I enjoy Point Sensor for calling out flanks and for keeping track of wounded enemies, so this improves ink efficency overall at no diminishing returns. For the same reason the build increases the duration of Point Sensor from a little under 9 seconds to just over 11 seconds. Special Charge Up because it's a Splat Zones specialist set and Ink Storm refilling the tank when it takes 9-11 sloshes on average to fill the Special gauge is a better way to sustain pressure than adding another Ink Saver (Main) to get one more slosh out before running empty.

All in all putting the outfit together cost 8 Super Sea Snails, meaning I've got 2/3rds of the first Splatfest haul left over to try to roll a fresh Hydra load-out.

I think the only other streamer I might've run into was putz12 who iirc is infamous in the community for raging at the game and other players. It would probably be a little entertaining to see the reactions, but I don't want to dig through streams to find it. Sadly don't have the replay anymore either because the most recent update was not that long after.

feel kinda bad that I haven't played for the past few days, I'm missing out on my bonus catalog points 😭 I'm only lvl 50 atm so I need them if I want that dab before time runs out haha.

@Kingpin Rogers (totally forgot to reply to you).

Don’t worry, you’ve still got nearly two months and you’re halfway there already, plus the bonus xp you can gain during the Splatfests.

Have they also said what happens with the old ones?
I dont believe so, but most of the items in the catalog are or random banners or stickets/items/gear you can also buy in the store. So even if they dont return you will not miss much (the emotes are ofcourse the main course :p so you want to have them)

Nothing has been confirmed yet. People are speculating that the items may be added into the capsule machine, or possibly the shops at some point. I would be surprised if there wasn’t a way to eventually acquire the items after the catalogues expired.

True true. The thing I’m really liking about the catalog is that the first win bonus gets you 7500 XP for the catalog and each level is 9500 XP. That’s incredibly generous and pretty much guarantees you should be able to get a level / day even on a limited time budget.

When do y'all think we'll get our first Big Run? I'm expecting it to be at the end of this month.

From what we've heard from dataminers, they may function similarly to Splatfests, so I think we may get 2 Splatfests and 1 Big Run every season, with this month being the first one. What better time to introduce a "Salmon Run Splatfest" than Halloween month?

Do you think they'd drop monthly Splatfests? Those are one of the biggest draws of the game, and they've been pretty consistent at getting one out for each month of support. I could maybe see them doing the Big Run before each season ends and making that the consistent time across all seasons.

If they do scale back to 2 Splatfests per 3 months, then the middle month definitely fits best, but I dunno if they'd sacrifice a Halloween Splatfest for that.

I expect we'll get news soon, probably coinciding with their first balance patch

No hear me out: Big Runs would be just like splatfests where you pick a team and fight for it, except it's for salmon run and works somewhat different. You wouldn't need a normal splatfest in a Big Run month, because Big Run would basically be the splatfest.

Alternatively, Splatfests could coincidence with Big Runs, and if that happens, the Splatfest is themed differently and Salmon Run counts towards Splatfest results too during those events.

Datamines confirm it works similarly to splatfest with an announcement on the splatcast, a start and end date and "results", and I don't see them doing that twice in one month. That's where my train of thought comes from.

Finally bought the game because I found a nice deal online for a physical copy.
I'm just kinda worried that the online is worse than I expect it to be and no, I'm not talking about how people have been reporting SP3's online to be unstable.
I'm talking about how back in the testfire splatfest I literally could not find a SINGLE match across 6+ hours of trying.
That day, I logged back every hour or so, tried routing wifi using my phone, tried using different DNS addresses, configuring my modem, nothing worked.
And before anyone asks: yes, I do have switch online. In fact, it's only going to expire next year.

If I can get into matches and play I really won't be bothered too much about instability. I mainly got the game to try out the new campaign and I'm not really done with splatoon 2 yet to move straight to 3.

I don’t know what region you’re in but on the US East Coast I can get into Turf Wars in under 10-15 seconds, Salmon Run in under 30 seconds. Usually playing from 9-10 PM.

I feel like this is faster than Splatoon 2 was at launch which is probably a testament to how good the sales have been.

Why do we still having to do rank up series instead of coop even in S or A+, like shouldn't you and others are kind of all game from that point instead of having a massive gap like C+ vs S/A?

Ah, I see. That would make more sense, although I dunno how they’d be able to split into “sides” like Splatfests do. Part of the fun in Splatfests is going against the other teams, and they probably wouldn’t be able to capture that through a Big Run.

Who knows though. Definitely excited to see it finally make its debut.

I'm thinking some time in December, when the first big update is supposed to come out. And I don't think splatfest will be replaced by the new salmon run modes at all; they will exist along side each other.

There needs to be a ranked for Salmon Run. No way i can continue to play this mode when people are this brain dead. It’s like playing in C or B tier in Anarchy.

as someone who's kind of alright at salmon run and dogshit at the rest of the game, it's worse than that. after five years since 2 everyone in pvp is ridiculously sweaty while almost no one can play salmon run at all

It’s likely because while there’s no de-ranking anymore but made ranking up more difficult has put everyone more in a try hard since that portion is more of a challenge……which I honestly like. S+ was too lenient in 2 and with 3 it’s more in line with upper tier in other online shooters.

Dunno what the hell happened in Salmon Run though. Suddenly everyone just sucks in that mode.

I am one of those people who is a lot weaker in Salmon Run compared to Turf and Rank teehee.

Tbh, for me it had to do with the fact I obviously spend more time on the other modes compared to SR (but I do know and am aware of most tips for that mode).

But also the fact you get randomized weapons every round makes it hard for me since I stick to one main weapon only. XD

Yea the random weapon pool makes Salmon Run a lot more casual than the other modes. It’s intended to be the mode to play with friends without needing to take into consideration where everyone is on the progression treadmill.

I kinda wish the game would give some indication about where the boss salmonids were landing, because orienteering is like half my problem in that mode. But I also feel like that would make the mode significantly easier or dismantle some of the need for teamwork such as using This Way to flag where the bosses are.

There’s also a fair bit of knowledge people have to internalize for the mode in terms of how to take out all the bosses which I think makes it more complex than say turf wars.

But it’s still early days. The game just launched. The problem will resolve itself eventually by either people naturally getting better with practice or the less skilled players moving on to other games.

And a balancing pass wouldn’t hurt either.

I'm expecting to get details about the midseason update after Nintendo Live, after the tournament or concert. Hoping for some juicy, drastic balance changes (because god knows this game could use it)

Specifically hoping for nerfs to Last Ditch Effort, Ninja Squid, Sloshing Machine, Trizooka and Tenta Missiles.

I would like to see the Reefslider explosion radius reduced a tad. I’m still having a hell of a time judging where the safe zone on that is. Getting out of the way hasn’t been a problem lately. Just not sure if a nerf is needed or I need to internalize this better.

Funnily enough I'd like to see the special buffed. The explosion is fine, but I think it's way too punishable at the end. I think it'd be cool if you had less endlag the longer you slide before canceling, so a more predictable but well-lined up Reefslider is rewarded more.

On another note, why doesn't angle shooter do damage if you touch the line? It feels like it was made with the intention of being useless, even the tracking effect only lasts like 2 seconds?

Oh Tenta Missiles…how I loathe them.

It’s so enjoyable when a team has two players with them and you have missiles constantly raining down on you. Not forgetting the absolutely zero effort needed to use them.

On another note, why doesn't angle shooter do damage if you touch the line? It feels like it was made with the intention of being useless, even the tracking effect only lasts like 2 seconds?
It really is ridiculously pointless. Low damage when it hits and then tracking for two seconds. Woot!

Tenta Missiles wouldn't be half as maddening if there was any consistency to how fast those rained down. But the incoming ticker and target marks keep switching up their timing on me from so delayed it feels like they're baiting to lightning fast with no warning.

On the topic of expected balance changes, I've been struck by how much you could nerf Booyah Bomb by reducing the radius even just a little or lessen damage away from the center. The times I've died because I barely touched the outer rim are truly staggering.

There's a few mechanics high level Salmon players already know, exploit and actively keep track of that most players simply aren't aware of. You could communicate those more directly - or at all - without easing up on teamplay demands. Calling out something like the direction change of where bosses spawn from would be akin to the WIPEOUT!!! message in battles.

Edit:

It really is ridiculously pointless. Low damage when it hits and then tracking for two seconds. Woot!

And the tracking isn't visible to your teammates either. Any attempts to find redeeming qualities in the Angle Shooter died when I found that out.

This is basically what I'm asking for. Like a guide arrow or something above your head that goes away after a few seconds.

You sure about that? I have a few clips where there's an angle shooter on my team as the only thing that can mark people, and I can definitely see it when they mark someone.

Not certain. I've heard it from more than one SplatTuber and the Splatoon wiki claims the same, though it's possible one got their (wrong) info from the other.

Angle shooter is dog shit and the main reason why I switch from splattershot pro to the squeezer, and occasionally the 52Gal. I hope that a new kit will appear rather sooner than later.

Remember how Nintendo was hiring a new level designer for Splat 3 after the reveal last year? I'm not sure they hired the right person....

The best stages in this game, from a competitive standpoint, seem to be mostly returning stages that didn't get huge overhauls (Museum, Inkblot, Makomart, Sturgeon (Wahoo still sucks lol)) and then Hagglefish, the one good new stage.

Hell, I've even seen people talk about how Scorch Gorge looked like a better balanced stage in the reveal trailer than in the final game.

wasn't that position for single-player?

Nope, as per this article:

"Earlier today, a job listing was published for a Splatoon 3 level designer. Their responsibilities will include:

– Adjusting stages, weapons, and game modes
– Renovating “existing” stages
– Placing stage objects per-game mode
– Balancing weapon parameter data"

That makes me realize, I'm slightly worried for the balancing of this game if the person making the stages is also in charge of that 😅

ah damn

hiring new people always presents risk I suppose

Have you googled "Splatoon 3"? Cause something just happened to me 😭

I kid, I kid, I just made this thing cause the last two days have been awful, to the point of me wanting to go back to Splatoon 2 :(

I know exactly how you feel. The moment you get excited because a friend joins your game “A communication error has occurred.” A couple of great games back to back “A communication error has occurred.” Oh you found a great team “A communication error has occurred.” You’re on a monstrous losing streak…no, that’s fine, play on!

But I still really love this game and have a lot of fun.

I felt the same and just assumed that some gear abilities impact the timing on such things - I have no idea if that is a factor influenced by gear though.

As far as I know Special Power Up only increases the targetting reticles and possibly the painted area for Tenta Missiles. Them coming down out of nowhere is due to lag. Or an unseen teammate who the missiles were actually aimed at and you just stepped in the way. That happens too and is equally maddening.

Connection error on the victory screen for a match where I scored on Clam Blitz giving our team the victory on overtime. Victory not counted. That fucking hurts.
