TV Netflix is removing their first original series "Lilyhammer" next month.

if you want to get technical, they were doing exclusive content back when they solely focused on the DVD by mail side of things in 2006. but this was the first series bought specifically for the streaming side.
naturally, it's so early in Netflix's life cycle that they shared ownership rights with a TV network. the Norwegian NRK1.

certainly not on the same level as HBO Max completely wiping large swaths of content for tax reasons, but Netflix really should have worked things out to keep it up for historical purposes.
 
Ah damn, I guess this is one way to force my hand to watch this show at long last.

A big problem is that Netflix doesn't own most of their earlier original shows.

Sony owns House of Cards.
Lionsgate owns Orange is the New Black.
Warner Bros owns Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
NBC Universal owns Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Interesting, I didn't know this. This is the kind of stuff that got them on the map and it's pretty unfortunate for them not to have proper claims to them.
