You must have a different definition of coincidence than I do. This sounds more like the fan project is capitalizing on the rumors and leaks with the timing of the announcement.

While it's just a fan concept showcase, it's cool it has actual industry professionals working on it. The principal environment artist worked on Ghosts of Tsushima, and the lead environment artist worked on Sea of Thieves and Kena. Makes it a bit more impressive than usual fanworks (not to put down hobbyists of course). I really like the style.
