HARDWARE

Rather boring week.

DQM3 still has shipments to sell is impressive

Pokemon + dlc usurping the base game makes sense, the word of mouth for the indigo disk is very good from what I've seen

Software sales looking great, and it's pretty much confirmed by now that this year's holiday season is very weak for hardware (40% YOY drop for Q4 assuming the last week sells 150k). Based on what I am seeing across different regions, this seems to be caused by the general sentiment in the economy, so it's mostly out of Nintendo's hands.

There is a Switch decline but it's subtle enough Nintendo can ease into a Switch 2 preparation period.

Also curious about Switch numbers next week. 120k + seems doable with Christmas next week.

Being in a sales thread is a lot like being in an airplane where people keep talking about how the plane is descending as it's making its landing to the airport.

Kind of amazing how pikmin 4 went from "let's see if it can sell 1mil copies in japan this year at retail" to probably sell over 1.1mil copies by the end of the year.
Such an amazing success story for this game.

back in may, i would’ve never expected switch not to hit 4M before the end of this calendar year. it’ll be a close call. never mind that, the 53 week year comes to save the day lol.

at least SMRPG got a lift this week.

Hmm, it's based on total hours played, which would of course favors highly replayable games like Fornite, FIFA and CoD. I'd be more interested in seeing a top 10 most downloaded titles for the year, maybe separated into F2P and B2P categories. Not that I doubt PS5 gamers in Japan are heavily into F2P.

GTA5 is a 2013 game.

Modern Warfare 2/3 are kind of a remaster of a 2009 game.

Fifa has barely changed in years.

I can't imagine playing the same game year after year for hundreds of hours. It just seems so dull.

To spend hundreds of dollars in microtransactions on those games each year as well...

I hope warioware meets its sales expectations, that game was so good and i dont want it to die
