dang, the yakuza/lad games have always interested me, I either wanted to play zero or 7 (sorry, I just don't have time to play them all....), but infinite wealth's reception is really exciting, think eventually I will get it when it's cheaper and my small backlog is cleared.
congrats to sega and the rgg team :)

PS5 isn't picking up steam; Switch is losing steam.
Meanwhile Steam is picking up a little steam
That Tekken number feels low but I don’t know what the previous games have done in the region. Nor do I recall how SF6 fared.
Tekken 7 opened ~50k physical. Tekken 8 opened lower than Soul Calibur 6. SF6 did okay but PC is picking up the slack there which I imagine will also happen w/this title.

Just like clockwork , there are already two game fan site here already with the "Nintendo doomed" discourse and how this is the last change for Nintendo to go third party or die because Switch 2 can't save them anymore

PS5 is doing well in Japan, yeah. Apparently better than 3 and 4 did at the rate it's going.

It's just home consoles haven't sold amazingly well in Japan since PS2. Even Wii "only" got around to half of that.

Definitely looks like Switch is going to reach #1 in Japan very soon, too.

Switch outselling DS in Japan will be nutso. Really speaks to how much Nintendo's whole MO is about appealing to the Japanese market first and foremost.

Tekken 8 drop is brutal. Harada should have made Pokken 2 instead of wasting the studio's money on another PS5 flop. I hope this doesn't affect the next Smash.

PS5 really starting to pick up steam in Japan
PS5 sales are down compared to last year.

The PS5 has a very cheap bundle at the moment in Japan and buyer get Spiderman2 on top, and then adding a 100k+ seller with Yakuza... normally console sales would explode under these circumstances, but PS5 sales are very underwhelming.

The high PS4 sales of Yakuza shows that people are not willing to invest in the PS5, they have now their Switch and use the PS4 for games not releasing on Switch. If the game has been released on Switch the PS4 version sales would probably a lot lower, but the overall sales would probably double at least.

LaD growing on a declining ecosystem is a sight to behold! Can't recall the last franchise that managed to pull this off.

Isn't within a million of being the best selling console in Japan ever? I think only beaten by the Gameboy/Color and the DS?
Nintendo DS sold 32.87 million according to Famitsu and 32.99 million was shipped by Nintendo, only have the shipment numbers for Gameboy + Gameboy Color which are 32.47 million.
