HARDWARE

That software and hardware dominion that Nintendo has on the Japanese market… 🥴 Impressive! And the way their Evergreens just keep… well, Evergreening? Ahahaha

Numbers this week surprised me since Obon. But cool! Great Pikmin hold and hardware too. Unless you are MS, that's not good.

01./01. [NSW] Pikmin 4 <ACT> (Nintendo) {2023.07.21} (¥5.980) - 69.989 / 666.377 (-11%)

Switch is like the 70 year old grandpa who can still run marathons. It's so impressive, you can't even get mad about it, just look at it go.

Pleasant surprise we're getting numbers this week. Switch and Pikmin 4 are still slaying! Japan's GDP is grateful.

In just four weeks of retail sales Pikmin 4 has already surpassed the last known retail number for Pikmin 3 Deluxe before it fell out of the charts, this makes Pikmin 4 already the best seller in the franchise for Japan.

[NSW] Pikmin 3 Deluxe <ACT> (Nintendo) {2020.10.30} (¥5.980) – 642.696

Pikmin holding strong, another switch success story hopefully we can get another Nintendo franchise reinvigorated before switch is out the door

Pikmin sales are definitely incredible, so happy to see that. And Natsu-Mon seems to have a good hold as well, I really want to see if its legs can get it to 100k+ LTD at retail.

Switch 2023 v 2019 continues to be mighty interesting to watch. 2023 is powering along post Zelda and Pikmin 4, but 2019 has the Lite launch and Pokemon Sword/Shield coming up vs Super Mario Bros Wonder in 2023's corner.

we better be getting more pikmin shorts after this

I wish, they've been out of stock for a while

Just joking around but I find it funny how someone always shows up to say “it doesn’t work like that”..says who? No one here is Nintendo and we certainly are not 100% sure how they make decisions on such things lol
Hardware launches can't just be pushed back that easily, it takes years in advance to get things in order. Finalizing specifications, sending out devkits, planning out when to start production for the final product, lining up games for the launch window. The only real factor that probably affected things was Covid due to the chip shortages and greater macroeconomic uncertainties. Nintendo may seem strange at times but they are still running a business and are beholden to their investors.

Nintendo hasn’t announced when they are launching new hardware though

I see they leave me no choice but to go and give Pikmin 4 a try.

It's going to be my first Pikmin game, so I'm kind of looking forward to it.

Announcement, sure. They can definitely hold that back as long as possible. But the actual launch window is likely solidified at this point, dev kits have been sent out already as reported by very credible outlets, and the talk is of H2 2024 at this point in time.

I want a Pikmin bonsai, a Pikmin terrarium, Pikmin 4 treasure memorabilia, premium editions of Pikmin and bulborb plushies, a Pikmin ride in SNW, a Pikmin cereal, and Pikmin hats.

I want it everything and NOW.

Yeah I’m aware of what has been said by “credible outlets”
Last year credible outlets were saying similar things.
The year before last, credible outlets were saying similar things.
At this point I think it’s ok to doubt a little and wait to here from the horse’s mouth no?

I guess we'll have to wait and see. Regardless of if you believe the reports or not, my point still stands that hardware launches are planned long before they happen. Logistically it's a massive undertaking and it doesn't get pushed out unless there's a real issue that would require such a situation.

You're gonna love it, trust me. Pikmin isn't the most accessible game in the world, but it's one I would recommend to anyone who has some experience in gaming.

Neither here nor there on what to believe. I just enjoy my current switch with its massive library while waiting for an official announcement from Nintendo 😎
