[Weekly sales of software and hardware] Nintendo titles such as "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" dominate the top! “ARK: Survival Ascended” also enters the top 10 [4/15-4/21]

Sales ranking announced by Famitsu, this time we bring you a summary of estimated weekly game software and hardware sales from April 15th to April 21st, 2024. This week Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Princess Peach Showtime! and Super Mario Bros. Wonder which were all at the top last week, all moved up to occupy the top three spots.

Following in fourth place there are many titles that enjoy cooperative/competitive play and in-game interaction such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Nintendo Switch Sports and Splatoon 3. As the new year approaches many people may be using these titles as a means of communication in a new environment.

Among these I would like to pay attention to the new work ARK: Survival Ascended, which came in 9th place. This title is a full remake of the open world dinosaur survival action game ARK: Survival Evolved using Unreal Engine 5. In addition to improved graphics, this is a game with numerous system improvements.

How much impact will the upcoming long holidays have on software and hardware sales? This is also a matter of concern.

Didn't anyone tell Nintendo how doomed they are because they haven't announced new hardware?

the switch's performance since week 9 has continued to surprise me. this really can't all be due to princess peach? not to diss such a queen, but it's not addin' up.

also MK8DX charting #1 7 years later is just hilarious.

Switch performance, at this stage, comparing favourably to 2018, 2019 and 2023 is impressive.

Mario Kart 8 DX celebrating its 7th birthday early. I had a fun evening on it with a group of friends last night for the first time in a while, and realised that the game's been around for nearly a decade in total.

I’m guessing it’s because how slow this year has been for game releases, despite us getting some heavy hitters this year.

Like the switch hardware has been selling lower every where in the world, but not abysmally, like the Wii.

I’m curious to see how Nintendo will handle the transitional period, since they’re capable of making it smooth, like GB->GBA and GBA->DS.

Like one thing that’s making me hopeful is that Nintendo handheld division has been phenomenal and have succeeded pretty much every time.

If Nintendo reduce Switch’s MSRP, re-introduce Select or both, the Switch is gonna be THE best selling console in history

less than 100k between this year and last year is very impresssive, granted it won't last when we get near where TOTK was but still

When you buy a Switch Mario Kart is one of your first purchases. It's not like the systems stopped selling and Mario Kart saw a random sales spike.
