Well, we knew this was coming eventually but there it is. After a long saga and a court battle during which Musk tried to break himself free from a deal he obviously regretted, the £38.1 takeover has finally gone through. The new owner's first task was to fire most of the company's top executives, including CEO Parag Agrawal, financial executive Ned Segal, and chief lawyer and head of policymaking Vijaya Gadde. Bret Taylor has left as chairman of the board as well, and shares will be taken off the market today. Apparently, Agrawal and Segal were escorted out of Twitter HQ yesterday. Stories about 75% of the company's employees are said "inaccurate", but not denied. The "original figure" was apparently only 50%.
This is all in pursuit of Musk's "free speech absolutism" ideology. Personally, I am probably going to delete my Twitter account since I don't want to support Musk's business ventures or the kind of business practices described above. What are your thoughts on the new development?
