for the record, some early ROMs for the bios (including an unreleased variant themed after Hello Kitty.) were in the gigaleak. but this is the first time a real hardware unit has been discovered.
it also contains various assets that don't exist in the Gigaleak ROMs, such as a photo of a Nintendo employee. and partial source code.


curiously, it appears the bios (or at least the debug menu in this build) was initially built off of a test cartridge that also surfaced through the Gigaleak. specifically for the MBC5 mapper (though it's plausible earlier mapper test carts used the same menu.)
 
Second Impact, uh? Game Boy Camera software was (co)developed by Nintendo R&D1. A reference to Evangelion was also in the Super Famicom version of Famicom Detective Club by R&D1, released around the same time.
