Random thought but what are we expecting for the next Nintendo warriors game? Aren't we pretty much due one next year (2024)? I imagine they would be keen to go back to Zelda given the sales of Age of Calamity but the set up for another side story isn't quite as obvious as it was with BoTW. Maybe a Mario Warriors? Xeno Warriors? Could be another medium size title for Switch next year
Xenoblade warriors for sure

I still hope we get Mario Warriors, but I'll keep my expectations in check there. If HAL Labs were willing, I think a Kirby Warriors would be fun, given how there are so many options for movesets and characters to play as.

If they wanted to return to the Zelda well, I think there's a fairly clear place in TOTK's story to insert the game. However, with the Xenoblade Klaus trilogy wrapped up, I think now would be a good time to do a Xenoblade Warriors game, potentially with some XBCX content or DLC to promote a remaster. The main challenge I see is that Xenoblade doesn't sell as well as Zelda or even Fire Emblem (I think), so perhaps they'd want to go with an IP with a better sales record. Mario, Pokemon, Splatoon, or Animal Crossing (how? no idea), maybe. I'd definitely be on board with Kirby as others have mentioned, and I wouldn't be shocked if we got a Pikmin Warriors title if Miyamoto likes the musou games.

Ideally, I think what would appeal to me is a Nintendo Warriors game that focuses on Nintendo's smaller IP and less famous characters. I'd love a roster that has Chibi-Robo, Kid Icarus, Helirin from Kuru Kuru Kururin, Sami (or someone) from Advance Wars, Mr. Game & Watch, Jenna or Mia from Golden Sun, DK Jr., Waluigi, the Prince of Sablé from The Frog For Whom the Bell Tolls, Takamaru from The Mysterious Murasame Castle, and a random assortment of characters I barely know. I guess it'd be like the Warriors equivalent of Captain Rainbow to a degree. I think the villain would need to be someone from very early in Nintendo's history that I am potentially not aware of, kind of like how Epic Mickey brought Oswald back. Original DK or maybe even "Jumpman" might be fun, with the twist that Jumpman is an impostor of some kind like Shadow Mario in Super Mario Sunshine and then you unlock Mario upon beating the game.

Kid Icarus Warriors. Varied cast of characters, already established armies... it fits. I dread some people's reactions if it didn't come alongside a mainline game though.

Eh their big recent licensed one was off an obscure boys love series. Warriors games don’t have to be off the biggest, xenoblades got a fun setup for a roster and it’s due for a spinoff. I’d say it’s likely. Barring a Nintendo all stars warriors

Sure but Age Of Calamity was like Koei Temco's most successful game ever was it not? Certainly best ever Warriors game. Pretty sure they'd be itching to get back to Zelda

A third Zelda Warriors set during that particular timeframe in Totk seems like a no-brainer... which arguably makes it less likely, I guess?

Looking at my Tokyo itinerary , I will be in the vicinity of a Pokemon Center on 3 different days. Please give me the strength not to buy from all of them.

Yeh Splatoon actually would be a good one. Or Kirby maybe.
okay a Kirby Warriors would be wild

Question is, would the cast of playable characters all be different Kirby characters OR would they all be Kirby with different copy abilities?

I'd wanna see a battlefield full of nothing but Kirbys

Imagine how that'd sound

Shit, I'll take anything Kid Icarus at this point. Bring on Kid Icarus Kart.

It’s December. Where’s the snow, Fami?

I’m talking about the snow that rains down on these forums, not real life snow. I don’t think I’ll get real life snow here in FL until climate change really starts to fuck thing up.
Oh it was 80° in my neck of the woods a couple days ago. In December. Snow is a thing of the past for me. 🤣 😭

Pokemon Warriors because it's the only way for the biggest media property in the world to be become more popular than GTA.

I say this as a Kirby fan (kirbyfan407, to be exact): that would sound funny for one minute and then get annoying.

I think the primary playable character would be Kirby, potentially with the unique mechanic that you can change playstyles mid-mission by sucking up defeated generals. For Kirby, maybe you could unlock different colors as you progress. I'd expect there would be other playable characters, too, likely heavily resembling the Dream Friends cast of Kirby Star Allies. It'd also be fun to play as characters like Kracko or Whispy Woods.

Kid Ikartus?

Okay so as soon as this happened in the movie I thought about you saying this so I wanted to go ahead and share my thoughts about it

So when he beaned himself with the rock, he was coming home from school pretty roughed up, and after the whole situation with his dad and his aunt and the move and everyone just sorta expecting him to take it all in stride and accept it, I felt like he was trying to make himself look like he got beat worse than he did so his dad would pay attention and take pity. And it sorta works to a degree but his dad instead focuses more on wanting retribution than whether or not his kid is okay. And after all that he still just leaves his son in the care of someone else and leaves. Goes to show the state the kid is in plus the obliviousness of his dad.

Then as we know the scar eventually comes up later where it's said to be a symbol of his "malice." This is during a pivotal conversation where he decides not to be the caretaker of a potentially perfect world and to instead return to the real world and be with the people he knows. The scar is a symbol that persists through the movie, and it's showing his humanity: his pain, his anger, his struggle to get others to see him, and he points it out when deciding to face his own reality.

This also forces (or inspires, or something) the younger version of his mother to return to her own time so she can grow up and live her life, even knowing she'll eventually die, because she must face real life just as her son is deciding to.

I think the short of it is that it shows his growth from attention-seeking and walled-off, to taking responsibility for his own life and his own emotions. And then the final scene shows he seems to be much more comfortable with his new family (as weird as it is that his new mom is his aunt (which may not have been so weird back then, I dunno))

Anyway all of this is meant to be taken with a healthy dose of maybe 😅

I presumed he did either to get more attention from his dad or just to have an excuse not to return to school but it's never really elaborated on throughout the movie. The scar is just that, a symbol...for something. And when it gets brought up at the end of the movie, it tries to connect to him having some malice which I didn't really buy. I don't think any viewer felt he was a malicious person. He's depressed over losing him mom and he's in a pretty fucked up situation with his family. Even if he's not ready to call his aunt mom, he goes into another world to bring her back. I never got the sense that he wanted to stay in that world, especially when it has been trying to kill him the whole time so when the offer to be the new caretaker is brought up, I didn't think there was any conflict to resolve. It seemed like he always wanted to come go home and staying was never an option. I don't think they explain why the aunt went to the other world in the first place and her initial rejection of Mahito when he does find her seemed very sudden. The Parakeet King just kind of shows up at the end and I'm not really sure what his motivations were. Ultimately, I think that was my biggest complaint about the movie. It doesn't give enough time to further explain character motivations. You can infer some things but it makes their some of actions seem out of place and uncharacteristic upon a first viewing of the movie.

I would have it where Kirby has a base moveset and can gain copy abilities in the map to change his abilities mid-battle. The abilities would be cloned/expanded into other characters, and while Kirby can lose his ability if he takes enough damage, these other characters will always keep the ability (and perhaps have a damage buff or expanded combos to compensate for less variety).

You might have turned it off in your preferences page.

I just decided once I finish finals for my first semester of my PhD I will reward myself with Mario Wonder and Pikmin 4 finally.

Love how we got two of the best and most thematically poignant Godzilla movies made in Japan between all the Legendary schlock. Hope Toho gets someone to do a silly one next as a treat. Haven't seen baby Godzilla in a minute.

Looking at my Tokyo itinerary , I will be in the vicinity of a Pokemon Center on 3 different days. Please give me the strength not to buy from all of them.

You should definitely visit all three though. Every Pokemon center is slightly different and have their own exclusive merch. Spend. Spend. Spend so that we validate Pokemon consumerism and we all get more cool Pokemon merch to spend more on! (And if Shibuya Pokemon Center is one of them, you should also visit the Nintendo Store)

Nov - Eastward

There's only so much days left before Pokemon Scarlet/Violet drops so I figured that I'll try to power through Eastward.

Thankfully, the story picks up from Chapter 3 (New Dam City) onwards. Feels like much of the story revolves around picking oneself up and holding on to hope after tragedy. I think the story as a whole can use some finetuning.

The gameplay as well. The puzzles from earlier chapters were a drag compared to the later ones. It gets better but... how much are you willing to wait before just putting the game down for real? The game also crashed on the Switch a couple of times; and at dramatic moments too. So that's a bummer.

The pixel animation was great though. It's amazing how much expression and heart they put into those pixel animation. The best part of the entire game. I want that artbook. Where can I get an Eastward artbook?

Last year, I wrote that I want an Eastward artbook. Today, I discovered that Lost in Cult is releasing THAT artbook and boy, it looks gorgeous.

So beautiful.... but the price... Costing 40 GBP (+ 20 GBP for shipping), I can't justify spending over a 100 SGD this purchase. orz. Maybe I'll wait to see if the book ever makes its way into the local artbook shops first.

Whenever I’m out of tasks at work, one of my favourite things to do is to whip out the Tears of the Kingdom ST and read it from start to finish. It’s lovely to sort of looking back at all the hype and memories, and it feels like a diary of sorts.

I am seeking my perfect French press

I want a budget steel model that isn't ugly

currently the top candidate is this:

I'm not entirely against glass even considering its poor thermal insulation but would prefer steel for durability.

Reading internet enthusiasts say that every press is basically the same makes me want to get the cheapest glass one I can find but I'm not super into the design of cheap presses

idk I got a grinder for way more than I wanted to and apparently it's bargain bin crap too so I kind of want my press to be proportionally crap

any thoughts welcome, no effort required

Next month is gonna be rough for playing games. There's Another Code: Recollection and the Apollo Justice Collection in January, then there's Persona 3 Reload in early February, then there's Dragon's Dogma 2 in March! I wanna finish the first one, first, but I also need to beat FFXII (and I'm stuck on this God Awful boss fight that's killing my will to continue it) and I don't want to keep sitting on South Park: The Fractured But Whole, since that was a birthday present. #FirstWorldProblems

Took a while, but good to see tea finally pulling ahead of coffee in the poll. Got my wife a pink insulated bottle for Hanukkah that comes with a basket filter that latches inside so she can take brewed loose leaf with her to work.

Ever gone through a day and something feels vaguely off and you have to wonder if you missed some patch notes or something

Nah it’s at the saturation point and there’s not much they could add going TOTK only either.

Saturation point? Based on what? The last Zelda warriors game was literally Koei Temcos best ever selling game (without it pretty much ever being discounted) - you think there is no interest in returning for a follow up? Curious
