Peach's Princess Showtime getting to 10 million is definitely possible. I hesitate to say the quality even matters, it's hard to tell what factors will lead it to success without knowing fully what it's going for.
I‘d say quality still matters with titles like those. Yes the Switch Sales boost exist and that Luigis Mansion 3 sold so much was a surprise (at least to me) though it also was a good game.

Thought I was share this here as I'm actually thinking something very similar could be possible, IF Nintendo does revive the SUPER moniker. Why wouldn't they also look to the console design for further nostalgic feels? That classic grey is still 'chef's kiss' for me.

I wanted to take a crack at this "more rounded" design leak from factory uncle. I just went for the full circle design inspired by the Super Nintendo controller, and then went full super with the buttons/layout and for further call backs I added the N64 C buttons design on the other controller. I made the sticks bigger on this than OG joycons...but I think the d-pad might be dead other than on Pro Controller's because they want buttons and sticks on both sides if they are joycons.

Also that would be about the right screen size in a current switch form factor. The thought that the JoyCons could house additional battery for the whole system that we've been kicking around here, well if they look like this there will be plenty of room for extra battery in them.

One reason I think Nintendo won't name it Super Nintendo Switch is because everyone is going to call it "Super Switch" and I can imagine Nintendo would be feverously opposed to that. Like how they were enraged at people saying "Wiimote".

I wish that a hardware announcement happened on March 3rd, but I don't think it is because March seems really full and also because m a y b e Nintendo would like to have a "gap month" where nothing really happens, a rarity for them in the Switch era, as a preparation/calm before the storm reveal of the Nintendo Switch. That would put us in a May reveal, which would be benefitial for Nintendo because they would get their attention before Not-E3 season and also allow them TO GET their desired attention post-Not-E3 season, with a July presentation and a September release (4 month reveal-to-release cycle). That also aligns with what Furukawa once said about the reveal-to-release cycle of the SwIItch: that it would be shorter than Sw1tch's cycle. That's BS, he was talking about the NX reveal in 2015.

I would love to see where he said this.

Nintendo only said it would be shorter than 23 months (the original announcement of the NX to its release time period) announcement to release for the Switch 2. That was all they ruled out. It could be 6, 9, 13, or 15 months.

I don't get the whole demonization trend going on about hoping for an earlier reveal or MP4 as one of the launch titles, everyone should be happy to play the console as soon as possible don't you think ?
I'm not demonizing anyone but you have implied anyone who disagrees is dumb.

Why do you throw the word “demon” out there. It’s stuff like that you keep doing. A normal conversation and you, you throw the word “demonization” to turn it into something it never was.

Pokémon Soul Silver exists and is generally referred to as SS in the Pokémon community. Maybe they won’t name it the Super Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Super Switch — but that decision wouldn’t rest entirely on a fear about abbreviations.

Yeah I find the idea that the abbreviation point is a bit overexaggerated ... even if I get the concern

I dont go to any gta forums, whats going on over there

Basically, there is this image.

Rockstar has their earnings call in early November, and Rockstar announces their next game two weeks prior and a lot of RS games have been announced in October, so people are speculating October 24th is the GTAVI announcement day.

The GTAVI Speculation thread is going as fast as the Switch 2 Hardware thread (when it was merged) and a thread on ERA was made saying they were scared an announcement wasn't happening this month.

Curious question, which colors will have Switch NG cases?

I would like a mix of red and black (with Switch NG main color is black), so its complete opposite of PS5 mix of white and blue. Plus, it would be poetic both japanese HW manufacturers have a duality of white/black, ying/yang, hikari/yami, light/darkness representing different concepts of videogames (?).

I sure hope that with Switch's most recent firmware update, if Nintendo is no longer adding consumer-facing features when making major number jumps then it means that better features like a proper activity log are being saved for the Switch 2

it's 2030 and Nintendo is beginning to drop (for Switch 2) smaller games and remakes like Princess Peach: Showtime and Mario Paper The Thousand Year Door on Switch.

What remakes and unlikely projects would you like to see?

First I thought this was a question about the future. This is about now?

please keep your antics to the hardware thread. I beg of you.

I thought we already went over this.

Super Nintendo Switch/Nintendo Super Switch sounds like an enhanced Switch Pro
Switch 2 sounds like a successor.

People are dumb, no point making it cute.

I don’t think people stating possible acronyms won’t affect naming are necessarily disagreeing with the argument that Super Switch might fail to convey the right marketing message a la Wii U.

In fact, I’d say that’s a much likelier reason to avoid the naming scheme than a hypothetical abbreviation.

I think the challenge that you specifically face is that you have a habit of responding to people you disagree with as though they're saying something ridiculous - even when it's in an area where there are multiple reasonable interpretations and where there should be room for disagreement.

For example:
To the March reveal believers:

What do you think will be Nintendo's heavy-hitter title in H1 ?

Please don't say Peach

Like, if you want people to disagree with you with grace, then you also need to be better at recognising and acknowledging the possibility that you're wrong.

After all, you were just as confident about a 2023 release, even as evidence against it started to mount. All of us on Team 2023 were wrong, and that's okay so long as we have some humility and acknowledge that we are fallible and that we may be wrong again.

Like, it's worthwhile for all of us to try to treat people we disagree with with the respect that we hope to get back at us - especially when, at this point, there are multiple reasonable possibilities.

except for the fact that Nintendo has never added a number to the end of their console title except for the n64 and that many sequels had other names that just aren't "title" 2 and have been popular but yeah let's just say regular people are stupid to win an argument without much thought.

Your excuse of the new Peach game being a game "just for girls" is ridiculous. Not being offensive, but that is literally a mindset of a child.

Peach isn't big enough to be a launch title for Switch 2, but it is still a fairly big game for Nintendo, and could very well sell better than Prime 4. The Mario Movie was a great success, and Peach was a core part and highlight of the film. She has renewed interest.

nope they have but it is rare
Color TV-Game 6
Color TV-Game 15
Color TV-Racing 112
Nintendo "3" DS
Nintendo 64
Super Game Boy 2

I feel like Nintendo doesn't want to do the numbering thing just because Sony is so known for it.

was with you until you threw shade at Prime 4 for no reason

Me saying that Peach might sell better than Prime 4 is not throwing shade at the game. I think prime 4 will be a great game, but that doesn't equate to great sales.

then don't bring it up if the person you arguing with didn't bring it up

Sure, but this was before Wii U. Nintendo isn't going to name it Switch P or Switch B because of the fear Wii U 2.0 will happen again.

Nintendo is also under new management, and the Switch 2 will be the first console since the N64 that doesn't have Iwata's name attached to it.

I'm not entirely sure why people love doing this thing where we have the "OPTIMISTS" or "PESSIMISTS", "MARCH BELIEVERS" or "MARCH DENIERS". It doesn't really matter, and it leads to unproductive discussion.

Princess Peach's Showtime has no reason not to do well and isn't any "lesser" than other games in the Mario franchise. It's another big creative step in the right direction for the series. We all basically know we'll probably see new hardware by the end of March, so why bother trying to stay true to one belief? I wrote basically an article on why I thought a March launch was possible with the Amiibo theories and such, and now I believe a launch somewhere in May/June is much more likely as new information has popped up and as I continue to think about and reflect on the evidence I compiled. We need to be willing to be wrong for discussion to be healthy, and trying to do this weird thing where there are "sides" in a "conflict" is incredibly silly.

I know it isn't a 'first' for any video game discussion. It has just always confused me. It's much more fun when people are willing to talk about different possibilities, especially when we're all just speculating, and the worst that can happen is that you're wrong and you don't get internet bragging rights, lol.

If Princess Peach Showtime is just a middle of the road Good-Feel affair, then Nintendo can just go the first 8-10 months with no heavy hitter. It’s not ideal, but come on, they just launched Zelda and Mario in 2023 and might have another mainline Mario Fall 2024 along with a new Pokémon. It’s fine.
