3 months ago he said it was 100% being revealed in July.

We should have a prediction eliminator thread. You declare your month or quarter and when it passes without a reveal then you're gone. Last user left wins a bag of cookies featuring Nintendo designs.
most of us would've failed when it wasn't this year!

I love this idea, jokingly. Like a battle Royale. Can we do this with the main launch game for Switch 2 also? Lol

Another thing to consider, FE Echoes Genealogy continues to elude announcement even though it’s reportedly already done & has been for a while (so it’s likely not a cross-gen release). Not to mention the other two Prime games that have yet to be ported. Why hold those back if you weren’t planning one last Switch 1-focused Direct in February?

@P4bl0 if we get to fall of next year with absolutely no news just like this year and the year before that I want you to give your critics hell

if anyone ever even says the words "twenty twenty-five" call them hypocrites

I think we’ll get a Mini Direct in January or February. No more General Directs for the Switch. Since all these games are ports/remasters they fit into a Mini Direct.

Sidenote but the most important feature for the Switch 2 is front and back cameras so I don't have to fear a gimped Nintendogs sequel.

You have to AR a real life dog or cat.

Take it's picture and it appears on the dog or cats body in game similar to how the feature was used in the removed face feature in Perfect Dark.

My best hypothesis is that we will get a traditional February Direct with the Genealogy remake announced for Switch 1, released in the Summer. Switch 2 talk starts in March.

That’d be a very impressive slate of announcements for a Mini. Between all of those, a bunch of third party stuff, and a teaser for Prime 4 (which is probably cross-gen), that’s more than enough to found out a General direct. Wouldn’t be the most exciting show, but there’s enough to get the job done.

Why would they do this. It wouldn't end up looking good and you already have that pet to play around with for real? Why bother playing with your fake dog you scanned into the game if it's based on a real dog you have?????

I think Prime 4 won’t be there. I’m thinking we’ll have to wait on it.

Analog triggers too for a Super Mario Sunshine 2.

is this a threat

Wait. What were the cameras used for in Nintendogs? I have no memories of this!

For example, after a while, the pet will facially recognize and greet the player, and may react negatively to a new player. If the face is close to the camera, then the puppy will come up to lick it; they will also mimic a head tilt.

I think Nintendo wants to avoid what happened with the switch launch last time, where year 1 (2017) was amazing, but because they played all their cards, year 2 (2018) was pretty slim. I can see Nintendo having a big launch, but not as big as switch 1 so that more games can come out year 2

There is no reason to believe that the game is done (it would be an extremely short dev cycle if it were) and it was probably heavily internally delayed after Engage had poor reviews, sales, and fan reception compared to prior games.

I doubt insiders have gotten any new leaks since the Chinese localization leaks of Engage in summer 2022.

Analogue triggers are dead forever, but you know what isn't? Shoulder wheels. FLUDD is getting a rework, he's now a hose. The shoulder wheels control FLUDD like you'd screw and unscrew a valve to change the water pressure. Hire me Nintendo.

Don't NIntendo fear any "Fire Emblem Fatigue", making it an almost yearly release ? It went from "Make it successful in the US or the whole series DIE" to "So uh, we have this one already finished, can we release it now or do you want to wait an extra year ?"

Oh and Kirby too. Like, sometimes there's like 3 to 5 Kirby games in less than 18 months.

Yeah i feel like fire emblem is becoming intelligent systems pokemon with its yearly releases. Hope they take some breaks so we get quality releases rather then rushing them out every year

Echoes Genealogy began development before Engage did, & I’m mostly going off of what Nate said about said remake having been finished for a while.

I hope the Switch 2 will finally get another multi-player Zelda ala Four-Swords or Tri-Force Heroes. I lost my hope that the Switch will get another Zelda game, so I also hope for Wind Waker 4K (I don't care that much for TP tbh).

Feels like a stretch to call Fire Emblem a yearly series when there was a three year gap between Three Houses and Three Hopes. The current release cadence is really not all that atypical for the series, historically speaking.

It would be nice though, especially if the chasm between the fanbase that wants persona and those that want game mechanics (weapon triangle) continues

like... people get mad!... maybe do a spin-off for relationship sim so players can keep track of which is which, and alternate releases every year

that strategy would still leave two years between FE

I don’t really think this is a concern until the games actually take a technical hit. I don’t think any of the recent releases have felt rushed.

I think FE (and many other franchises) have had their release schedules put out of wack by covid. The worst of Covid went on for roughly a year and a half, and that entire time game development was far slower. It’s also probably why we went from 1-2 Mario games a year, to 6 games, a dlc expansion, and a blockbuster movie (alongside a rumored 3D Mario) between 2023-2024

I also wouldn't really consider a warriors spin off in the same boat as a mainline game or a remake of a game that's never been localized officially. Odds are we get the FE4 remake and then we don't see the next mainline Switch 2 FE until 2026.

This as well, I imagine the plan for Engage would have been a late 2021 title and Covid + Nintendo wanting to hold and space out games delayed it. Then FE would have been

2019 - 3 Houses
2020 - 3 Houses DLC & FE1 NES
2021 - Engage
2022 - Engage DLC & 3 Hopes
2023 - Genealogy Remake

A major release every other year, with gap years filled by dlc, spin offs, and a port/remaster.

The funny thing about the “maybe there’s too much Fire Emblem” is Intelligent Systems has also put out 2 Wario Land games and 2 Paper Mario games out this gen lol. It’s like you can’t even say you wish they worked on their other series because they’re getting games too. IS is just too good this gen.

Not really? We've seen a lot of Fire Emblem releases, but they have been different games.

2015 (Japan)/2016 (West)- Fates (Traditional, mainline game)
2017- Shadows of Valentia (Traditional, remake)
2018- Warriors (Muoso spin-off)
2019- Three Houses (Traditional, mainline game)
2020- Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light (port of the original game, just don't go looking for it on the eshop)
2022- Warriors: Three Hopes (Muoso spin-off)
2023- Engage (Traditional, mainline game)

So we are averaging a new mainline game every four years with a couple of older games surfacing as well as the warriors game. It is almost an annual release situation, but there is decent variety there.

Predictions: We get the long rumored Genealogy sometime in 2024, or 2025 at the latest. After that, we will probably get another game as a GCN/Wii port, unless they hold off PoR and RD for full blown remakes. If not those, maybe a 3DS title gets the treatment. The next new mainline is 2027, keeping with the current pattern. FE: Warriors gets a break since I don't see Engage being worthy of a spin-off.

All 1,000 Wario Land fans cried at in anguish upon reading this post :p

I fucking wish it was a yearly series.

The split between what gets multiple entries on a console and what only gets one entry is pretty interesting. EPD projects are mostly one per system, but Splatoon got two. Most subsidiaries see multiple entries per system, but NLG’s IPs have only seen one entry on Switch. Etc, etc.

I wonder what the decision making process is for which IPs see multiple installments per console and which only get one entry.

It helps 3H was mostly outsourced to Keoi Tecmo.

Considering Engage's reception maybe they need to outsource again lol

They absolutely want to replicate what happened with the switch as closely as physically possible. It's there most successful hardware ever, why would they possibly want anything else? It sure didn't hurt the switches sales in the second year.

But that lead to possibly the greatest selling video game system of all time lol. If I’m Nintendo I got the blueprint. I would agree though the second year I hope would be better on Switch 2.

Sorry for the ignorant question, but do we have actual evidence that a 3D Mario game is going to be a launch window game, or is it just speculation/an obvious conclusion?

It's all speculation but anything else would require Nintendo to , to use a colloquialism, be off their rockers.

I think it's obvious conclusion. Switch only had one new 3D Mario and it was at the very start. We also know that Nintendo likes to launch new systems with a big title. Put those 2 facts together and it seems obvious that they are saving a new 3D Mario for launch or near launch.

we don't have any games confirmed for switch 2 even from rumors all the insiders have seen is the matrix demo and a botw demo other than that we know nothing about switch 2 games. Mario launch is just a obvious guess

Wasn’t there a game confirmed for Switch 2? I recall a game was brought up a few weeks ago.
