Pre-Release Metroid Prime 4: Pre-Release Discussion Thread

Oh, my sweet summer bloke.

I didn't think you'd actually be so pigheadedly bold as to publicly present this buffoonery on here!

The Process isn't inaction, it's the belief that Retro Studios will get the job done, and get it done well. Them working their butts off IS part of The Process! You're a child who insisted he hated drinking water, so mom added some food coloring and called it juice, and you happily drank it right on up.

This is why we need The Process.

I reject "The Progress". Not because I don't believe in progress, but because it's as I've already told you: without Process, there can be no progress. You're saying "I hate seafood, but I love sushi!", for another nice little comparison.

The Progress isn't The Enemy of The Process. It's its greatest ally.

#TTP

@Metroid when he realizes the #TTP acronym would still be #TTP under his proposed Process spinoff:

Putting aside the fact that I famously hate Metroid (the series) so that I can support my brother @Metroid (the person)

"Trust" is based on faith. Faith is based on blind belief. Blind belief leads people astray.

It is not only a show of bad character to "trust in the process", but it is of bad moral character to continue to espouse this belief as a person of stature on this very site

Retro hasn't made a game in 10 years. What is their to trust? There's only one thing to Believe in.

No new, original game, yeah, but I think the 10/10 GOAT work they did on MPR is still worth something. I'm in awe of the miracle, even though I know I'm no game developer, but instead simply a bloke who loves Metroid.

you sure like to say bloke a lot

I knew someone would eventually point it out, it was just a matter of time. You got me, I really can't get enough of the word "bloke". I actually go into withdrawal if I go too long without saying it.

Sorry, I only listen to game developers. And Metacritic. And MSRP. Three things Metroid Prime Remastered is VERY weak in. Come back to me when you've made Celeste.

No. The video title and thumbnail clearly show rumor. The info comes from a single source. And should be taken with a grain of salt. As explained in the video.

And I literally just said this polishing phase is speculation on my part. Read.

You literally say in your video "complete may mean it's in the polish phase." I'm not arguing over your use of the word rumor, you were clear about that. But it's disingenuous to use the word complete in your title when the proper term for that (rumored) state of development is beta. Some games literally spend years in beta. But I know, not as many clicks if you word it that way.

Process and Progress will both lead us to Metroid Prime 4, so I #TrustTheProcess and #BelieveInProgress

I think its weird to make assumptions like that. Point is I was told something and there is room for interpretation of what that means. I don't know if they meant content complete, almost done, or about to go gold. So its not meant to be misleading, and in the video its discussed we don't know when its going to release. We'll have to agree to disagree, because I honestly put a lot of thought into being as transparent as I can. I will say that for that particular video I had to be careful about wording in an effort to not out the source.

You're videos, including the one in question are literally full of you making assumptions and suppositions. But fair enough, agree to disagree.

I’m more excited for the Switch 2 console reveal because I’ll get Metroid Prime 4 gameplay, 3D Mario gameplay, brand new Mario Kart revealed, etc

wonder if it's a hot take to say I'm excited for the switch 2 reveal less because of a new console but more because we'll finally get prime 4 gameplay?

Same here. Everything else that comes with it will be nice of course (really curious about what 3d Mario will be like). But every fiber of my being just wants to see Prime 4.

Sooooo I just saw the part of the Furakawa interview where he said they have Switch software planned through March 2025.

To me this is confirmation that Prime 4 is intended to release by March 2025 at the absolute latest.

Based on a new job listing for contract cinematics producer, it looks like MP4 is going to have voiced cutscenes. I know most people were probably assuming this would be the case but with Nintendo you never know. One of the job duties is to "Plan, schedule & coordinate mocap shoots and voice over recording sessions for cinematics."

They’re hiring for a lot of cinematics people all of sudden and I wonder if they need to reshoot a bunch of cutscenes or something.

So do we think Retro have been working on this for five years straight? That'd be a long time and I'd like to hope it's pretty much completed by now.

I reckon gameplay and visuals (I'm assuming most if not all cutscenes are in engine) are done and now it's just finalising music and polish. 5 years is a long time for us but in terms of HD development that seems pretty standard, especially with the high expectation they have to meet. Ninty isn't going to let this game be anything less than breathtaking considering they scrapped the previous version and the pedigree of the previous titles.
It may be out by June next year or it might be longer but one thing we know for sure is it'll be spectacular. Trust the Process.

Do you think Metroid Prime 4 could/would do scans in a similar way to the talking flowers in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, ie snippets of audio accompanied by text that just pop up when you encounter them?
Edit: I assume the answer will be no.

OK i was thinking with larger open area's there should also be more side content but it should be worth more than just another 5 missiles or more health. how about optional suit upgrades like rapid-fire missiles or a slight hover upgrade for more difficult platforming sections

Prime already has the beam combos, so more along those lines would be neat (but preferably less expensive to actually use)

If there's side content in prime I want it to be minimal like the poster above stated; stuff like optional beam combos and maybe optional mini bosses like the rocket launcher possessed trooper in prime 2
