Hardware Resident Evil Village, RE4 Remake, Death Stranding & Assassin’s Creed Mirage coming to iPhone 15 Pro With Full Support for Hardware Ray Tracing

Capcom's probably going to be the most enthusiastic Switch 2 supporter among the big JP pubs. They'll port basically everything, starting with SF6.

Who you more have to worry about are Bandai Namco and Sega / Atlus, who have some producers still operating as if it were 2003 and working in direct opposition to the market.

If that is the case why did Monster Hunter World ditch Nintendo? Why did Capcom milk Nintendo for Rise and then bring it to other consoles? It just shows Capcom hates Nintendo like I hate $70 games.
Because World probably can't run well on Switch. Rise was built on Switch and can run better on other consoles.

They don't hate Switch, they lose mooney not selling World on the console. The game just can't run good.

Pokemon doesn't run good but still came to Switch.
bait-thatsnucd9.gif

😂 😂 😂

for the price it's gonna cost, it fuckin better

but I doubt most will use it for gaming anyway, but all the other functions that probably don't need as much power

It's going to be tricky because an iPad is well ... an iPad too. It does a lot more than a Switch does and as a household purchase it has a lot more value. Multiple family members can use it, you can take it to school as a functionality device, you use it to watch movies on an airplane or bus (especially when you get that dreaded flight that has no in-seat entertainment), enjoy your photo library on a bigger display, web browsing, social media, make video calls to loved ones or for work, etc. etc. etc.

So yes it will cost more, but people also value it higher to begin with. If an iPad can suddenly also play like PS5 tier games all of the sudden with just a bluetooth controller ... that's going to be ... interesting.

Even with "declining" sales, Apple ships 50 million iPads a year ... that dwarfs even the best years Sony or Nintendo have ever had in the gaming business. An iPad is a more mass market device than any Playstation or Switch already based on sales reach.

IMO, utility is what one can do with a device over the course of the day. video games cut into that a lot hence why the most popular games are also very lightweight. full games like PS4 games are a good party trick, but I don't know how long Apple intends on sustaining that if the audience doesn't change for it.

I think we're talking PS5 on iPad and this "PS4-ish" fidelity on the current iPhone will improve to PS5-tier as the years go on too.

The thing is they're not going to stop making better and better M and A series chips. They do it every year and will continue to do so and as they do the gaming performance is just going to get better and better.

Even if no one needs that much power in a smartphone, I think Apple has realized it's a way people use to justify getting a new phone every year or new iPad every few years. It's worked for them clearly.

I assume the performance on an iPad will be a big step up from iPhone. M3 processor in iPads is gonna be wild. iPhone I think is more like "I got 20 minutes to waste here, lets play some Resident Evil 8" type of thing, iPad would be more like "I've got a 7 hour flight tomorrow".

everyone's favorite ray tracing demo, Justice Online Mobile will be getting RT on Apple as well. they shown up at Qualcomm's presentation before, showing RT reflections, but for Apple, they also brought RTGI! :O

Because they thought Nintendo's goose was cooked after Wii U and the 3DS was declining then too.

Once it was clear the Switch was a huge success they moved to make Monster Hunter Rise.

3DMark Solar Bay is available for IOS now. The top scorer is the iPhone 14 pro at 4311 points. Right under the weakest SD8G2 phone. The SD8G2 tops out at 5611, with Dimensity being slightly higher. And this is without RT cores

Tested the benchmark on the iPad Pro M2; The SoC has 4P + 4E and 8 GPU cores.
I got the following score/result;

Android Authority did some test also on the Exynos 2200 (RDNA2); https://www.androidauthority.com/ra...n-2-vs-dimensity-9200-vs-exynos-2200-3355127/

Z1E in the Rog Ally gets around ~12508 at ~48 fps, it's going to be very interesting where Apple is going to land with the A17 Pro :D.

Also hi, first post.

Makes the m1 better than the Radeon 660M which does have HW acceleration. Says more about amd prob9

Yes, I looked at the RTX 3050 mobile too, but I'm not sure where the 35W version of that will land at. The result on UL indicate that it gets an score of; RTX 3050 (mobile) = ~26 015 score at 98.92 fps.

Also the benchmark is conducted for the following RT effects;

3DMark Solar Bay measures graphics performance, and it does not have a CPU test.
The Solar Bay graphics test features ray-traced reflections, volumetric lighting, particles, and post-processing effects. The scene consists of three sections, with the ray tracing workload increasing in each section. The second and third sections target an average of 2x and 3x the ray tracing workload of the first section.

The test is built using Vulkan 1.1* and runs at a 2560 × 1440 rendering resolution before scaling the content to the display.

Re Village on MacOS did have an Ray Tracing toggle available, but it was greyed out. So there was no way to infer how it performs through the software fallback. Perhaps that'll be updated as M3 devices come out (or at the same time the announced RE games come out to iPhone 15 Pro).

I think Mirage is going to be an very interesting test. As far as I know, AC games can be demanding on the CPU, so how have the devs managed to get it running on those 2P + 4E cores.

legit might grab RE 4 for this, I still haven't played it despite owning a ps5, and I was joking to my friends I would get it on a Switch 2 for portability if it came, but I might get this just to at least check it out! xD (I am upgrading to a 15 pro max)

Pretty cool. Haven't had an iPhone in a long time. Main issue to me isn't controls, I'd use a gamepad, it's storage. I save a lot of my Spotify library locally for when I don't have signal. I'd hope these games ship with lower quality assets to bring it down to PS4 game sizes, 20-50GB single player games. Realistically these games I can have maybe 2 on device for the 256GB iphong 15 pro. I wish UFS cards cards caught on and phones still had expandable storage. At least make use of that USB port now and let us use external drives to back up apps just to an external drive rather than tethering to a PC and iTunes

You bring up a good point. The size of these games will be important.. iirc, iPhones don't have expandable storage like micro SD cards... any word about that for this phone 15 pro?

Edit: there are versions that offer 1TB of storage 🤔

ports of games from much bigger machines to portable devices is always fascinating to see where cuts are made because when done well I'd argue you're not losing much unless you're doing direct comparisons. Would love to see how it compares to SteamDeck and the inevitable Switch 2 version.

So Capcom will not port RE4 Remake, a remake of a former Nintendo exclusive, to Switch, but will take Apple money to make a game no one will play to impress some investors? How deep is the rot?
I only know 3/4 of those likes get it. I'm scared for the 4th one.

A17 Pro analysis by geekerwan is out, its 30min quite in-depth.

They're experimenting and testing things that no other reviewer is doing at launch day. If you have time check it out. They'll likely do an english version too.

The A17 Pro is an impressive chip for a phone, but I think for gaming an M2/M3 in an iPad with more room to stretch it's legs is far more compelling as a kind of Steam Deck competitor if they can get developers to really jump on board and start making a lot of games. And then being able to buy the game and also getting a cross-play version on iPhone that is always with you even at lower settings is very cool.
