NSO Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons out for NSO:GB July 27th

Already died in the first dungeon of Seasons! Good thing the Switch version of these games has the recall ability from Tears of the Kingdom.

if Legend of Zelda Oracle of Age/Season is on Switch Online, does it means the game will not be remade as we expected?
Not necessarily. Link’s Awakening is on there too. I don’t think the remakes are all that likely over a new game but I’m sure it’s still an option.

LOL at Grubb saying on Twitter that this is probably the Zelda thing he was referencing but he isn’t sure. What kind of shit reporting is that? That’s not journalism.
He never said it was journalism, it’s not like he personally wrote a piece about it. He simply said “I have heard that something Zelda is coming not TOTK related” and that’s literally it. He doesn’t know what it is, and this could be it. That’s all. Nothing more.

Yeah LA came out after when the remake had already gotten the bulk of its sales.

These hitting before a potential remake would at least mean said remakes are pretty far away, if they’re even happening at all.

Gives me hope for a new 2D game instead

My issue with that is that we fucking knew about Oracle games since Feb direct. Lol if that's the thing he had heard it's not a good look.

PS: Will give them a chance but I'd probably play them Remastered whenever that happens (in 50 years)

Jesus, chill, it's not journalism. It's a dude saying something on a podcast.

Some people have way too much baggage, I swear. Take your anger out somewhere else!

By now the remakes should have been released, if Grezzo started developing them after Awakening.

I also believe there are some royalty issues with Capcom. With the exception of Four Sword Adventures, Nintendo games never directly referenced characters, weapons or plot points of Capcom games. You would expect the Four Sword to appear in TotK with other legacy weapons, and Vaati to get at least a cameo in Hyrule Warriors, but... nothing. Musics from Capcom games were also never featured in Smash or in a Zelda concert.

Re-releases are probably fine, but using existing elements in new titles or remix them might require to pay Capcom some money.

Oh of course I complain about no NSO games this month and not only do we get two games dropped out of nowhere they are also the system I suspected the least. I figured it would be N64 or GBA. Not sure if I'll beat these games as I had difficulty playing them the last time I tried.

I’ve said it before, but you can feel Fujibayashi’s influence in these — especially Ages — in a palpable way. The puzzle-heavy world design is absolutely his style.

Did Capcom show up in the trademarks section? Because if not, I question if they have ownership and Nintendo just doesn't like referencing things they didn't make

It's crazy how OoS/OoA have the best dungeons in the series and then BOTW/TOTK have the worst. Wish he'd go back to his old design philosophies.

I see you guys leave me no choice but to give these games a try, finally.

I tried playing Link's Awakening DX earlier this year, but I didn't like it because of how limited it felt to use items. I also didn't help that I'd already played the remake shortly before.

Still, I'm excited to give them a go. Ages goes first, right?

Oracle of Ages was the first Zelda game I ever played. Looking forward to spending time with my animal bros.

Love Seasons, Ages a bit less so but it’s still great. I replayed them on 3DS earlier this year and it was interesting to see the many parallels to the later Zelda entries directed by Fujibayashi.

I love both of these games so much. Happy for anyone who gets to play them for the first time!

I’m just now approaching the finish line of Final Fantasy XVI and had intended on playing Pikmin 4 next, but now I’m conflicted. Don’t think I’d have time to play through Ages, Seasons, and Pikmin 4 before September 1st, which is when Starfield releases.

Decisions, decisions… 🤔

Not a good look for who? All he heard was “something Zelda, not TOTK.” He clearly states that is literally all he knew. He didn’t know what it was. He said this multiple times.

I don’t know why people think he was trying to get one over on people.

It doesn’t matter which one you play first. Though I would personally play Ages first!

So how do these work? Is it like Pokemon where it doesn't matter which game you pick?
They’re two entirely different Zelda adventures, with their own unique maps, mechanics, etc. There’s some story stuff connecting them but that doesn’t matter until the last leg of the games.

OH, I waited for these but thought they wouldn't come. Happy they added them! Now for the oracle of secrets as a remake game!

I've been jumping from game to game on the NSO library without being able to stick the landing, maybe Oracle of Ages would be a good starting point. I bought it back in the day and had to sell it because unexpected bills yadda yadda, and been aching to play it again since, but i didn't want to pirate it.

Oh heck yes, never played these before, can't wait to play them, I'll play them after I finish Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade (which will hopefully be this weekend).

They're running in GBC mode and not GBA mode right? Hard to tell with the color filter but I think GBC mode is the best looking one for those

I've never played these before. Will have to make some time for them.

Ages is one of the best Zelda games ever made

Seasons also exists and is pretty good

I am definitely going to try these out. Never played ‘em before as honestly I was never a really big Zelda person growing up but after TOTK blew me away, this seems like the perfect opportunity!

Didn’t you get some special extras playing these on a GBA? Are they included do we know?
Apparently they are not, the advance shop door is locked since this is gbc emulation not gba emulation. The only things the advance shops sells of note are two exclusive rings. It also sells a random rare rings and a gasha seed. The two advance exclusive rings do nothing, they're just needed for true 100% completion.

That’s a shame, I’m surprised they haven’t included the features tbh

Understandable but considering we knew about this, he could have said "you know could be about the Oracle games". Not saying he did it on purpose but obviously he had forgotten about it and kinda dropped the ball.

Anyway, it makes sense that this is it and nothing else Zelda won't happen imo this year. I rather not expect more stuff and be disappointed.

I beat them on the 3ds like 8 years ago one after the other together with link's awakening and I came out of them hating the main overworld theme that get's reused in all 3 games so I guess I will give them another chance. Playing ages first.

Legitimately great games that often get lost in the LTTP/Awakening conversations. I enjoyed these just as much as their predecessors. Will be nice to have these on the go again

The games running in GBA mode have way too bright and washed out colors imo so it's not worth it. 3DS VC also had them running in GBC mode :)
Regardless, it shouldn't have been difficult to upload these games to the GBA app, or offer the players to "boot in gba mode" inside the GB app.

I still have my "Ages" cart to play on the Analogue but I defo will play "Seasons" on NSO. Amazing additions

Unlike with japanese Fire Emblem games, Zelda Oracle games don't let you use the Game Link option in solo. This is honestly disappointing as everything was almost made to be really easy to handle from solo perspective for once but I guess when the option exists in other ways they just don't put the effort.

Grubb: "Don't shoot the messenger, but I heard a vague thing"

Internet: *nods thoughtfully, pulls out gun*

I've played Ages before but never finished it (got stumped in a dungeon and took too long of a break). I'm excited to finally get through these games!
