I'm excited there is 500 monsters versus 300 from DQJ2. There's also multi-player battling again which was fun when you found a match back in the DS days. The game looks very colorful, but seems like it will be graphically meh on the switch, maybe I'll get the PC verision.
No, there was also a PS1 DQM1&2 remake late in it's life. Plus mobile stuff over various feature and smart phones. It would the first Monsters game to hit a different platform than Nintendo's, so I am not sure this will reach Steam/PC at all.
Its not really new, all the monster joker titles had 1 save file. Hilariously I booted DQ9 (DS) recently on my 3ds and that also has 1 save slot.
DQ8 (3ds) had 2 saves and DQ7 had 3. It was really 11 who had 9 and if that's the only one you have played I can see how this might be a bummer.
Oh really? I thought it was kinda like the pokemon thing since you had online stuff.Mind, for DQ9, it was more due to space limitations than anything. Monsters, well... Kinda disappointing.
Demo is available now

Not a fair comparison. DQ9 targeted PS4 hardware and had to have a miracle port to be on Switch. It had a much bigger budget.I tried the demo and I'm usually not the one to bitch about graphics/looks, but hello? How is this a $59.99 game? I wish SE would've used the DQ11S engine (Unreal?) to make this game. Not impressed with the presentation at all. Gameplay seems very simple too, which is fine (and I did like it a little), but man, I'm bummed out. I need Toriyama's style to shine every time.\
Welcome to SE being cheap with anything that isn’t their flagship franchises. It’s part of the problem for why their lesser games often don’t sell well over the last several years now.I tried the demo and I'm usually not the one to bitch about graphics/looks, but hello? How is this a $59.99 game? I wish SE would've used the DQ11S engine (Unreal?) to make this game. Not impressed with the presentation at all. Fair, but idk, maybe give DQ more love/budget. The franchise deserves it, even with spin-offs.Not a fair comparison. DQ9 targeted PS4 hardware and had to have a miracle port to be on Switch. It had a much bigger budget.
This, on the other hand, way smaller budget and targets Switch hardware. Looks on par with similar games, such as Fire Emblem.
it's unity engine btwBeen playing for an hour and you can see who didn't play treausres because of the reactions. This game is using pretty much and updated version of the treasures engine and has more detailed things. Not that treasure was a looker of course, but they actually put more visual stuff here (which is also reflected on the perfomance)
this is Unity? because Treasures was Unrealit's unity engine btw
yup i checked the copyright info thing on the switchthis is Unity? because Treasures was Unreal
very weirdyup i checked the copyright info thing on the switch
This is a subseries/spin-off, it doesn't have as high of a budget as the mainline series. Also, SE puts all their budget into FF /s (not really /s).I tried the demo and I'm usually not the one to bitch about graphics/looks, but hello? How is this a $59.99 game? I wish SE would've used the DQ11S engine (Unreal?) to make this game. Not impressed with the presentation at all. It absolutely is.I played both DQ's demo and Star Ocean's demo back to back on the Switch.
And I wonder how Enix let the former happen. It looks like it's one gen behind visually.
Funny thing is that this is why this version catched my attention. I lost interest in the series after the first Joker Game and 2 was My favorite and playing the demo was like "this is like dqm 2 but in 3d!"Playing DQM3 feels like the game fell back to DQM2 times but they forgot to grow along with the times, I would probably have loved this game 10 years ago if I wouldn't have played DQM2. It looks the same, plays the same and even looks worse on a few occasions because of the stark difference in color contrast at certain places.
Ah yeah, small correction: with DQM2 I mean the 3DS game that was only released in Japan. Which is the DQWM2 game from the gbc but in 3D, it even boosted over a 1000 monsters. If you haven't played it I can really recommend it if the wait for DQM3 is too long... Although you could kinda get burned out on the franchise for a while after you are done with that gameFunny thing is that this is why this version catched my attention. I lost interest in the series after the first Joker Game and 2 was My favorite and playing the demo was like "this is like dqm 2 but in 3d!"
Based on previous experience it usually includes a code for the DLC in the caseSo I never played a Dragon Quest Monsters game before. I was aware that these existed but never looked into them. I discovered a year back that I LOVE Dragon Quest after playing Dragon Quest XI: S. The first Dragon Quest game I ever played two January's back.
So this gets announced for the Switch, I wasn't sure how I would feel about it but I just watched someone play a big chunk of the demo and this game while unfortunately very ugly in visuals, looks like a ton of fun gameplay wise. I immediately preodered the game and I can say that I am actually really excited to play this. The gameplay loop looks absolutely addicting and I feel like I'm going to spend a LOT of time in this game. Sure the production values could most certainly been better but I'm still glad this game exists.
Not sure if anyone here can answer this but I see the Japanese market is getting a Master Edition which comes with all the DLC. The question is, is that DLC on cartridge or is it a download? Doing an English translation of the Square Enix page would suggest that the content is digital downloads:

That being said I'm not 100% sure.
