That seems about right.
Also I hope they call it Super Switch. Please.
In this day and age and especially after Wii U, and even 3DS to a degree, I think they need to be more specific that this is a successor.

The only risk is hardcore Metroid fans will hate it, but for the series to evolve and grow to be he isn’t dialogue and characters who aren’t samus seem necessary, you can still have isolation but it’s a pretty hard 3-4mil limit if it’s just maze exploration again. not something to launch with unless it breaks conventions. It would probably look like what BotW stated goal is, “breaking series conventions.” At least for me the writing portions of Metroid need to do better. A whole universe & there is just question marks on even basic things.

Whenever it comes, I'm absolutely not looking forward to the bloodbath it's going to be to actually GET one.
I'd imagine holiday 2024 THE EARLIEST.May 2024 with New 3D Mario, Zelda DLC/performance boost update, and Metroid Prime 4 at launch.

This is why these updates don't excite me much anymore lol. I will be very happy to own Nintendo's New Thing maybe like a year after it launches when you can just go to Best Buy or whatever and grab one.Whenever it comes, I'm absolutely not looking forward to the bloodbath it's going to be to actually GET one.

Dread was a good baby step but if that’s all that is acceptable for Metroid games then I’m not holding my breath for future games to establish more.

I feel like this is asking more than they can reasonably provide. Several times we've seen hardware have more supply than anything previous and still be short. Being a desirable product will do that. But the alternative of being an undesirable product isn't so hot either. If they wait until a point where they can reasonably ship 30 million year one, they've probably waited too long without much return for it.It'll be interesting to see how the launch is handled. I just don't want a situation where it's super limited and extremely difficult to purchase for the first couple of years, especially it has a lot of exclusive, non-cross gen games. It would be nice to see Nintendo have a solid supply before launching.

It's not like their next SOC is in constant improvement and they just say "stop" at an appropriate time. What they aimed for is what we'll get. The price might be better in 2025, but not better than it would be anyway in 2025 following a 2024 launch.Sure, sounds good to me. My ps5, xbox and pc is keeping me busy. And the longer Nintendo wait, the better hardware they can launch at an acceptable price.
Because of a light schedule NOA will be forced to release the next Rhythm Heaven physicallyI do think that, if we're still a good 18 months out from a successor, that there must still be 3 or so non-port games Nintendo have up their sleeve to keep things ticking over until then (I'm kinda of the opinion that Metroid Prime 4 will be saved as a Switch 2 launch title now).
A Mario game of some kind to tie into the movie makes a lot of sense, so that'd be one. But what else? Could be a good chance for a franchise that has yet to get its own unique Switch entry, such as DK, Starfox or Kid Icarus. Something Pokemon related would be a good shout (did we ever hear anything more regarding Detective Pikachu 2?). Maybe Platinum could rustle up Astral Chain 2 as I recall they were keen to make that a trilogy.
If Prime 4 is a launch title there is no way it will be the only launch title. Nobody is buying a Switch 2 for a Metroid game. 3D Mario is a much safer bet.
Dragon Quest again probably.Wonder what the first third party reveal will be for the system.
Guess we’ll hear some more juicy rumors by the end of this year.
What are the odds it launches with Mario Kart? I refuse to belief they're working on BPC and Arms 2, they can and are working on DLC alongside a new one, but I feel despite its popularity it will still be a slight gap (3-9 months)If Prime 4 is a launch title there is no way it will be the only launch title. If the hardware doesn't launch until a year after the 8 DLC finishes? Maybe. What are the odds it launches with Mario Kart?
So basically the plot of Terminatorthe weak (people with normal lives) will perish while the strong (bots) will prosper
not super high imoWhat are the odds it launches with Mario Kart?
The only reason it worked this time is cause no one bought a Wii UWhen the next Switch releases, Nintendo is going to re-release Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as a complete package for $70 on a 32GB cartridge that includes all the DLC.
I just think its too soon, I feel like 5 years after DLC wrapped up for launch is good timing, their holiday 2026 title, not that different from the timing of Smash 4 (which the Wii U flopped... but tbh I doubt it being at launch would have saved it)not super high imo
now, a new super smash bros.… >_>

The biggest tools Nintendo has to get all their core fanbase onto the new platform quickly are Zelda and Smash.I just think its too soon, I feel like 5 years after DLC wrapped up for launch is good timing, their holiday 2026 title, not that different from the timing of Smash 4 (which the Wii U flopped... but tbh I doubt it being at launch would have saved it)
I know many who were kind of exhausted of smash dominating directs and such and wanted a hefty time off, and I get the implication Sakurai was not on a new smash as of at least late 2022-ok I guess it was late 21
Then there was the "semi retired" thing but admittedly I do think its possible someone else does it, issue is there's no real known protege like Miyamoto -> Koizumi situation, unless its been very behind the scenes
I don't think they'll drop it but I think its a bit too soon is all, especially if its not using Ultimate as a base to the extent it used smash 4The biggest tools Nintendo has to get all their core fanbase onto the new platform quickly are Zelda and Smash.
Three years after the end of SSBU DLC is enough time. SSBU released only four years total after SSB Wii U.
SSBU has sold over 30M copies, they’re not going to just drop it. If Sakurai wants to retire, great (he deserves it!), Nintendo’s still going to make the game. When Miyamoto retires we’re still going to get new Mario games.
3D Mario seems to be a safe bet as a launch title. If Prime 4 doesn’t come out in 2023, a cross gen also seems likely. On the other hand, 2D Mario, a remake of fire emblem or a new DK game for the extension of the park may come out in my opinion before the next hardware.Announcement early 2024, release in Holiday 2024 alongside 3D Mario. Donkey Kong, Metroid Prime 4, FE4 Remake, and maybe a couple other things carry the 2024 Switch lineup.

I guess I don’t really understand why people are acting like “new game gets made after original director leaves series” is something that has never happened in games beforeI agree on the main idea but it's a bit of a tricky comparative since Sakurai has directed every Smash Bros game ever and Miyamito hasn't directed a mainline Super Mario game since Super Mario 64 (he directed Super Mario Run).
Effectively, Miyamoto has been retired from the Super Mario videogame series for years while Sakurai continues to do some heavy lifting with Smash. We don't know how other directors would work on the series and how it would work out (not only quality wise but with development times and scope).

This is a solved problem. You appoint a new director and make the next game. Would Sakurai’s guiding hand be missed? Maybe! But even if he’s “semi-retired” there’s no reason he can’t be involved in an advisory role (that’s exactly what “semi-retired” sounds like to me, actually).
Games aren’t made by one person, even if that person is Sakurai.
Like, what’s the alternative? Nintendo just never makes another Smash, because Sakurai is done?
okay. i deleted that.I said I agree on the main point but the comparative between Miyamoto and Sakurai makes no sense.
I think that Sakurai genuinely wants to retire (or do other stuff) but we all know that as long as he's alive he'll feel obligated to direct every game in the series. And my man deserves some rest. That's why we shouldn't make a new Smash game for the next 40 to 50 years. If Sakurai wants to retire, great (he deserves it!), Nintendo’s still going to make the game.
Considering the type of man he is, retirement will literally be him working on something else. He is an avowed workaholic. At this point Smash isn’t an obligation but more of an opportunity to play video games from many different franchises while being on the job.I think that Sakurai genuinely wants to retire (or do other stuff) but we all know that as long as he's alive he'll feel obligated to direct every game in the series. It could launch with both within the launch window – a single-player game and a multiplayer-focused game, an E-rated game and a T-rated game. That’s pretty much exactly what the Switch did – launch with Zelda and then follow it up with Mario Kart the following month.I don’t see Switch 2 launching with Smash unless it’s been in development literally since DLC wrapped for Ultimate. Which is possible given that’s literally when Ultimate started but I see it more as a 2025/2026 title if Switch 2 is next year. I’m still guessing it will launch with 3D Mario.
Switch but you can swivel the screen into a vertical orientation (while keeping the joy-cons in their usual orientation) for new novel forms of play, and also DS/3DS gamesI sure am curious what this new console will be. I hope its an upgraded Switch with the added benefit of being able to stream a different view to mobile phones like how the WiiU streamed a view to the tablet. Not sure if that is possible but it sure would make the Switch a lot more versatile.
Nintendo entering an era where they mainly focus on vertical shooters is the most based prediction I've seen on Fami.Switch but you can swivel the screen into a vertical orientation (while keeping the joy-cons in their usual orientation) for new novel forms of play, and also DS/3DS games
This won’t happen but it somehow feels so Nintendo
