I have one question and only one very specific question:

In BotW, after finishing the Plateau, you are told that you can:
1. Go anywhere in the game
2. Make your way to Kakariko

I chose option 1 and decided to fill in the entire map before progressing the story by visiting all the towers, and I had a really great time! However, when I went back to Kakariko (and by extension Hateno) I found out that they were hiding mechanical upgrades to your runes past the tutorial, including the encyclopedia that I would have LOVED filling out while exploring the world rather than after having explored a lot of it. As a result, I basically didn't touch that feature at all even though I would have enjoyed it.

My only question is whether or not there is something equivalent in this game; a portion of your starting verbs being closed off behind story progress. Not stuff like dungeon rewards (of which I assume there will be), but things like the encyclopedia and upgraded runes.

I mean it’s still substantial though right? (Yes/no)
this is honestly hard for me to give a specific yes/no. So this answer isn’t that, but still vague if you want it
We just saw the completed map of them, which doesn’t really paint a full picture of verticality. It’s definitely something you’d look at and go “wait that’s it?” at initial first glance though

I’ve also asked if anyone was able to confirm sky islands appearing/disappearing as we were speculating in the early days with differences between shots, but no one has answered

Read the OP and TAG YOUR POST
I did. I thought it only applied to posting spoilers. I was a little unclear on the “direct answer” part, but there were no spoilers. I don’t know anything about the game other than what’s in the trailers. This makes me look like such as asshole as if I didn’t read the OP.

Okay, i think i'll throw in a question too.

On a "You are not ready for this game" scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest, how hyped should someone like me be, who's already hyped as fuck?

Keep in mind, my hype level is on that level simply because it's the sequel to BotW, with Zelda being my fav IP ever, and based only on the official stuff we've seen (trailers, previews), so i didn't even check out the artbook leaks.

based on that description an EASY 10

I have somewhat spoilery questions pertaining to geography.

Are the caves/underground big? Do they get their own layer on the map like the ground/sky does?
caves seem to vary in size. Underground is a completely different thing from caves with its own map layer

This thread idea is amazing, thank you 🥺 Hype confirmation with minimal spoilers is exactly what I need to get through the next week.

The underground is absolutely massive, and gets its own third layer on the map just like the sky and ground.

Caves seem to be rather sprawling as well and can even exist in the sky, but as far as I know, they don't get their own layer. Instead, each cave gets its own map icon with a completion checkmark that will display on the map once you have fully explored it.

What do these caves entail? Puzzles? Combat challenges?

Alright, here we go: do we know by now whether Zelda is a playable character?

Just to make sure, I do not want to know if she is playable or not. I just want to know if we know either way.

We don't know.
Signs point to no. But at least we should see her as an NPC at least once as far as I understand, which is already more than in BOTW? lol.

It would be super weird to me if the sky islands weren't very substantial considering the cover of the game and the marketing. Maybe we only know one layer of the Sky for the moment ?

The entire nature of the thread is asking questions to people who have seen the game leaks, so it's priori assumption that anybody who answers is informed by the leaks.
You even started your post with "the leaks haven't changed my mind". I disagree that my post made you look like an asshole.

I would like to know (yes or no) if the surface map is expanded at all horizontally

I saw someone mention the size of the sky islands already and I’m not looking for an answer that’s “no, but the underground is….” I just want to know if the surface is larger

@bellydrum dude i failed so quickly lmao i'm pretty spoiled at the moment.

Does this game BotW obsolete? If you had to guess.
honestly tough to say. it fills in every gap that BOTW had but while playing it I may miss the "simplicity" of BOTW in comparison.

Great edit.... I was just responding lol

I would honestly not take sky island impressions based on the map to heart at the moment. I personally don't think it's the full picture; there's a TON of verticality that I don't think is being represented.

I am wondering whether the shrine sensor and hero-path mode from BotW is in the game?
we don't know yet.

This is a stellar thread idea.

Question: Anything close to settlement/town/base/run down commune living off the land building in the game? Either as an actual game mechanic, or as something you could do for fun.
still unknown, though there are certain things people have found that insinuate yes.

Here's a question to start: how does the game live up to your hype?
having only watched the first half hour, and 2 other "moments" of the game, at least on paper it has everything i wanted. we'll see how actual quality shakes out once I play it but any and all worries i had about content are completely alleviated. i'm stoked.

Are there new towns or can you create your own towns?
new towns, yes. create your own towns, we don't know.

Not very substantial from what we've seen unfortunately.
That does sound strange considering how much the marketing and general presentation of the game focus on the sky. But that seems okay as far as I'm concerned. I'm not quite sold on the whole sky islands anyway and I'm actually more excited by the perspective of an extensive underground layer.

Question : is there any indication that Ultrahand will be required for something more involved than cobbling together wacky vehicles?

I don't think this is a spoiler because I'm guessing based on what we've already seen of the marking + previews, but I'm going to spoil tag it anyway:

Ultrahand is just a much, much better Magnesis, so I fully expect some puzzles where Ultrahand is needed to manipulate objects (i.e. move them around w/o sticking them to anything) in order to complete them just like happened in BotW and Magnesis.

Are all of Link's non-amibo costumes/outfits from BOTW in this game?
I saw a list of all new costumes that mentioned that all BOTW costumes were still in, but I did not see a file list / actual proof. Sounds like a safe assumption though seeing how a lot of other things are being kept or only slightly altered.

That’s fair. I only saw a little bit of the leaked art book because again, YouTube. I’m not going out of my way to seek plot spoilers or anything, but I’m also not changing my online habits so I accept that I’ll inevitably be spoiled. That’s on me.

And while I still think your post made me look like an asshole, I re-read my last post and the tone came off wrong. It was intended as “Haha, this makes me look like such an asshole.” More sensible chuckle than offensive taken. I’m not trying to break any rules. I thought we only needed spoiler tags for actual spoilers. My bad.

Answer to the question (more specific than the other one):

Yes, things like pulling up sunken or buried treasure chests are just down with Ultrahand.

No prob G, let's fuse our hype for this game and ultrahand a high five

any content-related questions I can think of, I immediately realize I’d rather just find out for myself lol

but I’d like to second Tye’s question: is there HD Rumble in this game?

Would anyone be able to say if the story seems to be good/something to be excited about?

My favorite Zelda stories would be OoT and WW, and I felt like BOTW didn't have a great story (or at least effective storytelling for me) probably bc of the game structure requirements

If/when the credits leak, can they be linked/posted here, or would they be posted in the first party thread? What's the policy on that?

How does the enemy variety compare to BotW? Double? Triple? Half?

Probably about triple? Nearly everything is returning, with more varitaions, and different enemies in each biome. Overworld, Caves, Underworld, and Sky Islands all have their own sets of enemies for the most part. For example, caves in the early game have had various types of Horroblins, Like Likes, and the glowy frogs. Underworld has Yiga, and a wide variety of Yiga weapons/devices.

How many Korok seeds are there?

No idea. You can get more than one at once due to the "help me" quests so I can imagine about the same or more as BotW. There's more than seeds as a collectible.

I have a couple

Is the story linear?
Are koroks still Bassicaly just korok seed fodder or are they a real race?

Is traversal between sky and underground fluid or is it kinda tougher to go form one to another

Is there a limit on how many zonai devices you can put on vehicles

And finally a spoilery one
What is baskets real name unless it’s a spoiler in which case please don’t tell me

Is the overworld larger than it was in BOTW?
Well, let's say the overworld is the same size as BOTW. The overall area to explore is larger though.

I have tried not to spoil all enemies for myself, but from what I've seen between trailers, previews and leaks so far I'd say at least double.

Same as above, I've tried not to spoil too much for myself, but the story seems more interesting and a bit more involved in terms of lore.
It's also seems to be set at the same time as the gameplay, opposed to mostly being memories like BOTW.
