News Nintendo Direct announced for February 8th

The moral of the story is, always trust Nate with Direct dates. I can't directly quote from the locked thread anymore, but Friday evening I posted:

"Best timeline is Nate's Nintendo predictions over the weekend, Direct announcement Tuesday morning @ 9am ET for Wednesday evening, and Nate's specific Direct predictions dropping simultaneously. Let it be so!"

Nate yeah'd! that post a bit later, before his Saturday 2023 Nintendo predictions dropped. My man has NEVER missed with Direct timing (be it a Partner, Mini, or General) and I'm taking the clues every time over any other "evidence" moving forward lol.

The 2nd best part of today is that his predictions will go up at some point too!
Ngl, the Moment I saw the tweet about the Direct I thought "hell, can't wait for Nate's Predictions later". Direct time Is always a sweet time, especially in these stressful times.

Right about twenty hours from now:

Donkey Kong will reveal himself.

Focus on H1 games is the same wording they used last Feb, take that for what you will in regards to if we get a general in June or not
Honestly, if this Direct is as high-quality a show as last February, but with more games aligned with my specific taste, I'm in for a great ride lol

What does "mostly" mean? Does it mean what we think it means?
Games mostly releasing H1 2023 and maybe a few H2 stuff? Mostly games and maybe something on the Mario movie?

I shouldn't have any hardware-related hopes but please help me to end them immediately.

Mostly H1 2023, implying that they're showing games that are H2 2023+

It’ll show through at least July and tease a few games farther out just like the last February Direct.

It means most of the games shown will be out by June/July 2023, but that not everything will be. That's a reference to the Direct contents as a whole, not just first party.

I wouldn't expect hardware news at all.

It won't be a new piece of switch hardware. If past years are anything to go by it means there will be some mention of titles or DLC releasing in the second half of the year.

I stayed out of the speculation thread so I have no idea what to expect for this.

AND IT FEELS GREAT
I didn't stay out of the speculation thread and also have no idea what to expect.

Nintendo is locked down tight at the moment. Nothing leaks.

There won’t be any new hardware here. They’re just talking about games mostly in H1. There will be games shown after H1, but of course it’ll take a smaller amount of time.

Ok ok, the Direct has been announced, it will be there tomorrow, it will last about 40 minutes, etc. etc... But the question we all ask ourselves now is... When will they announce the next Direct???

If it's true that this Direct is mostly first half 2023, I'll allow a modicum of hope that the June presentation isn't a steaming pile of disappointment

New 2.5D Mario for April, Pikmin 4 release date, FF Pixel Remaster, and a new casual title. It's gonna be perfect!!

It means nothing. Sometimes they stick to the given direct window (2022), sometimes they don’t (2021).

I can already feel the goosebumps from the epic music of the TotK story trailer just like i the goosebumps i had from the 2017 BotW one.

Alright PREDICTIONS TIME:
I know I put out a year's worth of predictions in the speculation thread, but thoughts change, I said we'd get a Mini instead, also this isn't going to be every tiny announcement, blah blah blah, LET'S GET ON WITH THIS

- Opens on something Mario or DK, I really don't know what, spin off, 2D, 3D, etc., but it comes out in July (if it's Sluggers I don't see it opening, but 2D Mario and TTYD remake are the ones I envision happening in my mind

- Mario Kart Wave 4 is here, we see three of the tracks, and they start giving us characters too, all in April

- Headlines are quickly cut short with Tomodachi Life 2?! We get a big overview (3-5 minutes) and it drops late April

- Kirby Epilogue detailed: Magolor goes to literal hell and has to fight his way out, insert plenty of fan service and boss returns

- Bayonetta Origins Trailer

- Headlines stop again... F-ZERO GX HD HOOOOOOOLY SHIT, looks flipping great, has online and a track editor, comes out in June

- Pikmin 4 overview, Miyamotto goes on for a bit (4ish minutes) game comes out in the Fall

- Moar Headlines, 3rd party stuff, some small eShop game, 50/50 if I care

- Headlines are over, TOTK TIME, Meaty segment, we learn some stuff, but we're getting a Direct focused entirely on it in March

- "We have one more segment prepared for you today, please take a look", PRIME HD BABYYYY, total remake, looks great, comes out in the Summer, but that's not all

- John Retro from the speculation thread shows himself to talk about the Prime remake, but has one more thing to show us, our first brief look at Metroid Prime 4!!!

"mostly nintendo switch games"... so theres a chance for 3DS games?

(i assume it means "mostly switch games for 23 and 1 or 2 for 24"
or "there will be announcements for mobile games like pikmin go (or how its called...)")
You mean we might get TOTK for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems?!

Omg, what if we not just get an epic TotK story trailer with legendary music ... but also the announcement of Baten Kaitos Remaster/Remake/Whatever with an epic trailer featuring BK 1's prolly best OST song ... Chaotic Dance?

This is potentially the most epic music Direct ever.

Advance Wars
Octopath II
Zelda

Anything else we should reasonably expect tomorrow?

Since the last thread closed before I could post in it, went to give a shout out to @LukasManak22 for hosting a pretty civil and engaging direct speculation thread (helped that it only lasted a month instead of 6).
