Discussion Brainstorming your craziest ideas for new Nintendo games

Third-person survival-horror Ice Climbers, where you climb Icicle Mountain and use Popo and Nana’s unique abilities to ascend the mountain. Find resource huts built around the mountain to stock and heal back up. The horror part stems from running from the Abominable Yeti monster. Someone on the internet is bound to know more about Ice Climbers lore than me, but essentially crossing over Celeste and Resident Evil 2 sounds like a ton of fun to me.

Turn-based Kirby RPG, with Waddle Dee, Meta Knight, and King Dedede as party members unlocked as you progress throughout the story. Travel across Planet Popstar with your crew and find why the planet is deteriorating/whatever plot.

How about a futuristic racer with about thirty or so likeable racers with their own unique hover cars that can attack each other while racing. The tracks would be roller coaster like, with loops, and steep descents. Oh and the cars need to be super fast. I even got a name for it. Call it Falcon’s Fury.
A new F-Zero game.

That's it, that's the crazy idea.

You know, okay, yeah, sure. Let's do this thing.

It's fast. It's tough. It's stylish. You all know and love it. It's F-Zero!

And how should a new F-Zero manifest in these times but through the aid of a studio that can handle all this with an affinity for arcade action and an already close working relationship with Nintendo?

Rather than a standard Stylish Character Action Game, PlatinumGames now presents F-Zero, Hyper-Stylish Racing Action Game!

Tangential thought: an F-Zero Hyper Stylish Racing Action Game by Platinum Games would almost certainly include some iteration of Wonder Red

I present again the outlandish idea of

F-Zero, Hyper Stylish Racing Action Game developed by Platinum Games
I must conclude that the idea was too far out there ...

Or that Nintendo already has Platinum Games on queue for an F-Zero Hyper Stylish Racing Action Game.
They wouldn't be in this situation if they'd just gone ahead and made that F-Zero Hyper Stylish Racing Action Game.
Just have Platinum Games go wild with an F-Zero Hyper-Stylish Racing Action Game and see what happens.

It'll at least be hyper-stylish.
The obvious answer, though, for a fresh take on the series is in the hands of a stylish and action-oriented developer, harboring an affinity for the arcade past as well as a strong relationship with Nintendo: Platinum Games' F-Zero Hyper Stylish Racing Action Game!

Mario's finally decided to put a ring on it!

-Choice of many different partners, each with exciting wedding planning lands. From Princess Peach's overly long guest list (time trial to send out invitations with more and more distant relavtives popping up, be sure to find them and send out those invites in time!), to keeping Mario's side of the family safe from Lava in Bowser's castle, there's a whole bunch of lands to explore with each potential partner! Lots of replay value.... Just wait until you see what a Toad wedding reception looks like....

- Choose his wedding party member of honor through a specially designed loyalty system! (Make sure to keep track of rumors.... choose wisely, not all can be trusted!!!)

An SRPG from Intelligent Systems and Atlus, that is a crossover between the main SMT series and FE, characters from both series would show up, could even be from a lot of their games, could take place in a kingdom that has a war going on between the ideals of SMT, maybe some heroes would have an affinity towards law or chaos, or even "neutral", these characters could interact on some level, could be conversations about their ideals; demons from SMT could show up there as well like either enemy units or have some of the more important ones be proper party members, would definitely be on the more moody side of atmosphere, have some permadeath, given the niche of the idea it could even be fairly challenging and with really good level design.

Idk I'm just a guy with a crazy dream.

Sounds cool but I have slightly different plans

bnuny Link game

  • Splatoon Galaxy: A fully fledged 3D platformer with Splatoon's mechanics. Something like the 1 player campaign modes, but with a big budget behind it.
  • Splatoon of the Wild: Open world with a lot of verticality to fully use the ink traversal mechanics. When it rains the ink is cleared and you can't climb, in true "otW" fashion.
  • 3D Sonic: Give it to EPD and let them do whatever they want with it.
  • Super Smash Kart: Mario Kart but with characters, circuits and mechanics from Zelda, DK, Metroid, Kirby, Pikmin, ARMS, Splatoon...Make every character really unique, for example inklings can use the ink for boosts or to attack opponents, getting coins refiils it and question boxes can unlock special attacks or secondary weapons. Mario uses the standard system, Kirby can copy other characters, Link can use the sword/shield/arrows/bombs/hookshot so he's very versatile, but every weapon is very situational so he's hard to use...Basically, try to copy what ArcSystemWorks does in Guilty Gear and specially BlazBlue where every character has their own very different set of mechanics.

Here's a crazy idea:
You play as a piece of colored tofu and can move around and paint the ground. And you should paint more than the opponent who controls a different-colored piece of tofu.

Duck & Hunt - A Banjo-Kazooie-esque 3D platformer collect-a-thon starring Duck (the duck) and Hunt (the dog) from Duck Hunt.

Ganon's Souls - Set in a timeline in which Link is felled by Ganon and a new hero must rise to the challenge, FromSoftware gets to do their thing with The Legend Of Zelda IP.

Metroid Primal - Samus's power suit is irreparably damaged when she crash lands on a hostile planet in pursuit of a gang of criminals. Now she must craft her own weapons and armor and use her X DNA to acquire new abilities from the alien wildlife to survive the harsh environment and bring her bounties to justice.

Metroidvania - It turns out Samus is a descendant of the Belmont family and she has to team up with Alucard to kill Dracula, who has been resurrected by the Space Pirates using Metroid DNA.

A crossover between Starfox and F-Zero which would be a GTA like developed by Sakurai and Sora and which would focus a lot on the narrative aspect.

Feastfyres: By Deeds We Are Known

A medieval jrpg that's basically like Pokemon, where the new recruitable units are the loot/point.

Evolutions become progressions, moves become adepts, etc.

Basically wholesale lift the fire<water<leaf<steel<fighting<psychic weakness/strength chart from pokemon, turn it into different weapons and stance combinations and go wild.

100 different Crutis is the cap, not 150 like the original Pokemon.

Add in city/base building elements via different units having different effects on the base, build out the picnic mechanic with the Feast mechanism, a repute system(something like the gym badge mechanism)that ties into the base quality which effects your ability to recruit units and voila, a new jrpg mainstay that sells like 13 million per generation.

The most important part of the rollout would be having the perfect artist to capture the look, rendering it iconic from the outset.

zelda rpg (dragon quest type)

super battle royale - all nintendo franchise mascots using their unique abilities

mario mmo - open world mushroom kingdom

zelda iso arpg (diablo type)

zelda sidescroller (shovel knight type)

mario sidescroller (mario sidescroller type)

This is from a future thread I am working on (not really wacky):

In its first party lineup nintendo could expand its t-rated games outside of its rpgs (Xenoblade and Fire Emblem) and Metroid (Forgot Fam Detective). Also they are not a lot of "adventure" type games. While not original, I would like to see what a "Journey to the West" type of adventure they could do. Or a lone samurai tale, they already have a protagonist in Takamaru (Murasame). That game's plot is wacky, it has aliens. And it does not have to be gritty like Tsushima, it can be a coming of age story for this apprentice. Basically remake The Mysterious Murasame Castle lol

Zelda mobile game focused around dungeon crawling.

The game is built around mini 2D dungeons. You get a daily allotment of dives into a pool of random dungeons, each which have unique treasure. You need to find the item (which will only be usable for the dive it is found) and use the item to clear puzzles and eventually beat the boss. There will be hidden treasure in dungeons to encourage exploration and outside the box thinking, as well as reward treasure for clearing the boss/dungeon.

Treasure found in dungeons ranges from in-game currency (common) to cosmetic rewards or even potentially other playable characters. Have seasonal storylines in which you need to find a certain number of Macguffins awarded from completing dungeons to unlock a "final dungeon" and complete that season's storyline, with reward.

In game currency can be used to buy additional dives per day, can guarantee a chance to replay the previous dungeon, and possibly can buy cosmetic rewards that are normally found as treasure.

This was my long prediction for how a Zelda mobile game would play out and I think it would be pretty fun and probably a decent money spinner depending on how they moitized the in-game currency.

It's like a third-person shooter but instead of being far away from your opponent you're really close and instead of guns you're just punching them, but also you're not so close you can reach them so instead all their arms are springs or rope or maybe noodles or other long materials so you reach across a stage and slap them and you can change your hands like how some are dragons but every character mostly plays the same anyway

I bet it will sell two and a half million copies

Links Horse Racing
  • variety of mounts ex. Horse, Boar, Deer
  • courses spread across Hyrule
  • characters range from all different Zelda games (link, ganandorf , Zelda, moblin etc
  • you can knock your opponents off with weapons
  • upgrade your mount with armour and weapons for your character as you progress and get rupees

May I introduce you to the classic Yūyūki, through which we can introduce Goku, he of the glorious Monkey King, to the world of Super Smash Bros.?

Not that another take couldn't be interesting.

I've never heard of it and it was a text-adventure, neat. And has kinda of the fonts and borders of Famicom detective. It looks very charming with its character sprites.

Crazy ideas I've had in my daily daydreaming sessions:

  1. Kid Icarus: Souls of Darkness - Take Dark Souls gameplay and apply it to Pit and the Kid Icarus world, with the same characters and setting as Uprising. Watch it sweep the Game Awards.
  2. Pirate Fire Emblem - There was once a fake leak which listed a new pirate based Fire Emblem was in development. While obviously fake, I realised Pirate Emblem would be amazing. You could recruit your own pirate band and sail the seas fighting other brigands.
  3. Nintendo Space Warriors - We're all expecting Xenoblade to get the warriors treatement next sure, but I'm sure someone at Koei-Tecmo namedropped Starfox as a possibility once. Let's go deeper, a Warriors crossover event fusing Starfox, Metroid and F-Zero.
  4. Zelda Smartphone Game - Honestly I'm surprised we haven't seen this from Nintendo yet. You could do an augmented reality one ala Pokemon Go where you wander around the world defeating enemies and traversing dungeons like a Young Miyamoto.
  5. League of Smash Bros - Pokemon Unite gave us a taste of what a Nintendo MOBA might look like, so apply a similar premise but with famous Nintendo characters engaging in online multiplayer hijinks instead. Release on smart devices as well as Switch for maximum GAAS moolah.

Meant to return to this thread sooner and actually answer the main topic. I’m going to flesh out Xenoblade Golf here.

First let’s give it a subtitle for fun. The game will be titled Xenoblade Golf: FOOOURRnis. From here we need a character roster and look it’s the first game in the series so we know everyone won’t make the cut, but it’s very important outside of the usual heroes and villains mix the most memeable characters all need to get in like Reyn. Like Mario Golf on GameCube, taunts need to be a thing when you are waiting for your turn in both local and online multiplayer and this is clearly where those walking meme machines shine. Of course the classics like “Now it’s Reyn time” must make the cut, but there’s room for some fun spins here too. Instead of “I’m the girl with the gall” you could instead have “I’m the girl with the golf ball” or whatever. Just have fun with it.

The rest of the game is easy. Copy and paste the classic three click swing from Mario Golf, make holes throughout the Bionis, Mira, Alrest, and Aionios, and copy and paste the music from the series into here. While the field themes make the most sense for a soundtrack, if you play in Super Rush mode, you get the battle themes of course.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot this game does need a story mode with voice acted cutscenes. It’ll be broken up into select chapters that reimagine all of the conflicts in the series as having been fought and resolved with golf matches and tournaments with a new final chapter that sees a crossover with every world. The entire story will always be played completely earnest.

Remember when Aonuma said he wanted to work on a game about a thief? I imagined the main character as some kind of rat. Art style would be Darkwing Duck-ish. Excellent responsive controls, good platforming, gadgets — you’d carry out heists and missions would play out like a Nintendo version of Hitman. (Yeah, I enjoyed the links awakening remake, but I still want my version!)
