Absolutely evil they're making a badge tied to getting the seasonal banners and titles with the gacha. If you were like me and didn't get one of them last season you're already locked out of getting the gold badge that requires you to get every single one for all 8 seasons

I stopped caring for badges when I saw how unattainable the gold ones for Salmon Run would be. This further reinforces they're not meant as incentives for us part-timers.

Yea, and no buff to the scales drops in the patch is a clear indication that they don’t want you to be able to get everything. Which is a philosophy I can somewhat get behind for cosmetics.

This missile nerf is a joke

To get 5* on a weapon, you have to get 1.16m exp. You get 2500 at most from a ranked win, which is probably the fastest way to earn the freshness.

That's 464 wins by knockout. To get all badges, you'd have to do that for every weapon, which as of tomorrow will stand at 67 weapons. 31,088 ranked wins by knockout. Since you're not going to win every match, and not going to get a knockout every time, it would take thousands of hours to do so. More when the weapons pool continues to expand to probably at least double what it is now.

You'd have to be, to use a British colloquialism , off your rocker to try and get every badge.

The badges were seemingly intended to be in the same vein as e.g. Korok seeds in BOTW, everybody gets some, and they're designed that way, but you're not supposed to be trying to get them all, by design.

Just keep in mind it could've been 12 and 10 missiles instead of 7 and 6 :)
Missiles existing is a joke no matter what, so :)
It got probably the biggest nerf in splatoon history of any special within a game, what more do you want them to do?
They're not going to make it unable to get kills, same as they wouldn't for any of the other offensive specials.
It's a displacement special

Isn't it based on turf painted? Not that it matters a lot as it would still take a long long time to get em all.

I'm currently trying to get as many 3-stars as possible to display the shiny stickers in my locker

... Yes, you can call it that if you'd like, just like all the other specials that can get a kill if you don't move to avoid its attack which is practically all of the damage dealing specials.

I don't follow what the point is intended to be here.

I don't think so? Not directly, isn't it the amount of freshness you get shown at the end of each map. If you're doing turf war, you do get a bonus if you've painted at least 400p of turf, but that's the only way turf painted indirectly counts. Unless my memories completely failing me, it should be exactly equal to the catalogue exp you earn, if that helps.

Edit: I may be wrong though! I'll check later.

I'm not complaining about their ability to kill since Missiles didn't kill me once in this game, that's not what displacement specials are used for after all. Though even that is absurd considering what other way better designed specials do (Killer Wail 5.1, Ink Storm, Triple Inkstrike).

With this patch Tenta Missiles are still: extremely spammable, without counterplay, global range, no line of sight required, 2nd safest in the game, almost zero depth of use and free info on + displacement of the entire other team. They still suck the fun out of any match they're in more than any bad stage ever could because they're still a powerful special designed to be the definition of noninteractivity.

Can confirm: Nerfed Big Shot is still a run ender, as two out of four of my post-patch shifts failed because people don't notice no one is actually alive to deposit all the eggs they're chucking towards the basket.

I must confess the update/patch is a bit underwhelming considering it has been almost 3 months since launch. It feels very light in content for a season change/big update. Also, isn't most of the new gear from Splatoon 2?

I got a communication error when a friend joined my lobby, but only that one time in a 3 hours session between Turf Wars and Salmon Run.

Have you gotten any errors or crashes since the update? I know it's probably too early to say if there has been any improvements.

That's not the Big Shot's fault, tho :p

I'd like to play with some of you sometimes, but I'd feel intimidated and afraid if my performance is less than stellar 😳

But Eeltail Alley is already in Splatoon 3...
At least it's wide and open :p

Got the seasonal title on my last daily pull from the Shell-Out Machine. So I'm either the luckiest or the least lucky Super-Duper Lucky Lucky Ducky.

Eh, I'm half-bad myself. Only saving grace is above average game sense compared, otherwise I'm nowhere near good enough to carry a Salmon Run squad on Eggsecutive.

If that's any comfort:

It's supposed to be intended as stuffing what would have been a couple of months of updates in splatoon 2, into one patch (though for that to be completely accurate, we'd have needed a third stage...) , But I agree that releasing it like this does make it feel way smaller, than actually putting out a map once a month and weapons weekly instead.

There are 18 new clothing items total. 2 new headgears (1 is a recolor), 7 new shirts, 6 new shoes, plus 3 new Grizzco items.

as the proud owner of one million wandercrust points I am looking forward to getting the rewards immediately

Holy smokes they added a lot of Rockenberg shoes. Enough stuff to hit 100 stars and get the gold badge I have in my signature, in fact!

Double checked and it's definitely counting the end of match bonuses for how much fresh ess you get rather than how much turf you paint in a match.

just for fun I got my total wins to 777 before the season ends

now my goal will to be to completely forget about the numbers and try to just play the game

Is it worse than before? I don't remember the real shot going that much lower than the reticle, but I don't understand why a velocity=range increase would affect this

Fairly certain its always like that. The replies explains it in detail why its not easy to hit people with angle shooter and why better hit detection or hit boxese is necessary for the sub.

I dont know the reasoning for the devs increaseing Angle Shooter's velocity/range, its not something anyone had issues with.

Idk, I know it's always hit lower but I remembered it being slightly more accurate (e.g. around the red line) than... 1.5 outer reticle lower than the center point.

As for the buff I think it's probably to make rebounds/zigzags a bit more achievable? But yeah it seems rather insignificant compared to the weaknesses holding it back the most

You could be right but i would need an unpatched game to test or video of the sub accuracy before patch to know if there was a change. All I know is that the shooter reticle is usally misleading and makes it difficult to aim a sub that has tight requirements.

I fell off Splatoon 3 hard in the beginning of October, only have 80 hours into it; I don't care about ranked and Turf War gets old fast. Salmon Run was the only thing that kept me coming back. Maybe with some new maps, the update, and a 70 day hiatus I'll start to feel the addiction coming back.

I just want my Custom Jet back with burst bombs...

Snipewriter feels absolutely amazing I can already add it to my mains lol and Brinewater actually seems solid outside of Tower Control (which seems to go way too fast like Mahi)

Edit: You recover your unused ink tank if you didn't fire the 5 shots from a charge

Edit²: OK Big Swig is actually a painting monster with horizontal flicks and can basically roll forever without emptying the ink tank. Nova meh, shorter range than Pro, spotty turf coverage, 24 dmg and large shot spread = not for me

Well I guess they did it, not a single tenta missile so far, only problem is that now booyah is the new spam special, specially awful on the springs too, match made in hell.

Good lord it takes forever to kill with Nova.....my first impressions of it is not good. Spam Point Sensor and ocassionally use Wail.....man.....man

Lol. Even though I think it will die down, I was like "you know what 210p on Pro makes sense "

Snipewriter is such a cool addition, the other 2 are fine but nothing too special.

Placed in TC X at 2059, lower than I'd like but we'll fix that soon enough. I wonder how the power ranking is calculated now that the lobby system is more complex. Do battles in Anarchy Open and Series have equal weight? In 2 I definitely experimented less than I would have liked because I was sometimes worried about my meaningless little number. Do anarchy battles affect X power rankings after placement or they only used to calculate your initial ranking?

I don't understand how this works now.
Tldr as far as I understand it is next Drizzle season (September 2023 through November 2023) you'll be able to get the gold banner and Super duper lucky titles that just got removed again, and presumably every year after that. The other 3 limited titles and banners should cycle as well.
