looking at the success of multiversus i wonder if disney is gonna take the plunge and make disney smash bros a thing. seeing all these disney crossover games it feels like an inevitability.
I’m not entirely so sure that will happen. IIRC, Final Fantasy Dissidia was originally pitched as a KH spin-off game but Disney shot it down because they weren’t comfortable with their characters fighting each other.

But that was years ago and things change. I still wouldn’t think it’s inevitable though.

I wanted to say that this makes sense considering Mirrorverse where they fight evil doppelgängers but there's also Disney Melee Mania on Apple Arcade. Could be that it depends on how violence between Disney characters is portrayed.

I wanted to give an update for those interested, barring any breaking Direct/Event news, all of the text is written for the September ST! I was pretty busy yesterday and also wanted to wait to give an update until the text was done. I also do have a title picked out already, but thank you for any suggestions, I love reading them. I'll be working on my pictures/photoshops again before the end of the week, I have it mostly prepared :)

Anyway, I'll share more later as I don't really want to hijack Legion of Primes great thread. We still have one more awesome week of August ahead between the Treehouse on Thursday and the Splatoon 3 Splatfest Premiere on Saturday!

My PS4 is right beside my Switch in the basement. My router is on the ground floor in the living room, on the other side of a staircase but behind a wall.

My Switch on WiFi gets roughly 28Mbps down and 17Mbps up.

My PS4 on WiFi (again, the gap between my PS4 and Switch is maybe 2" on the second shelf of the TV stand) gets 2Mbps down and 54.6kbps up. But on a wired ethernet connection (to a hub in a separate basement room that then leads up into the router upstairs), that number jumps super high up to 8Mbps down and 3Mbps up 🙃

I just want to watch Netflix and Crave without buffering...

So wait. Denuvo is gonna be a thing now on Switch or...
I mean it’s just like those guys who develop streaming apps or havok engine or the like. It’s a software toolkit(a crappy one) and it’s not endorsed by Nintendo or anything.

My life is a goddamn lie

WHERE DOES THE JAPANESE-NESS OF NINTENDO END???

(h/t NintendoLife)

Sometimes I think, what if every studio put stuff from their own countries culture just like Japanese devs do in every game. We have studios in every corner around the world but the games they make are usually very Americanized as that's the norm. Even the games with foreign setting like Dying Light. I want kielbasa in a The Witcher game. I want andouillette as a health restoring item in French games. Pickled herring in Swedish games. Chorizo in 2D Metroids.

Probably only in Switch games where their PC ports use Denuvo, e.g. Sonic Origins, since folks do pirate the Switch version to emulate it on PC to sidestep the PC DRM.

Sonic Origins shouldn't even fucking have it in the first place but ¯\(ツ)

I actually made a pickled herring joke in my game.

A lot of games have all sorts of cultural references.

Shamelessly stolen from reddit, the infamous Chorizo Statue:

fuckin lol ❤️

Fun fact: "Chozo" in Spanish can be translated as "hut" or "cabin". Ergo, jokes like this are a thing among the Spanish fandom:

out of context this panel is the funniest shit I’ve seen in my life

I would've assumed it was a very forced "samhouse" pun.
Funny you should say that... that panel is from a webcomic that was entirely about terrible house-related jokes featuring Samus dressed like that. And in the one strip in which she gets sick, well...

Samus: I think I'm a bit sick, I'm going to go see my doctor, just in case...
House: Oh, yes, how unexpected! It turns out I'm your doctor! A Pulitzer-worthy script. And I'm also wearing another house-shaped suit. Hilarious!

I always had intentions of watching Killer Klowns from Outer Space, and after the game announced I saw that it was free on youtube.

I can see why its a cult classic, the characters aren't great. The only stars of the shows are the fantastic and horrifying clown suits lol.

So I finally caught up with the reveals from the Gamescom Opening Night Live show and once again Geoff Keighley managed to make me doubt if I'm even interested in video games.

Now excuse me while I continue on with hour 118 of Xenoblade Three

Oh!

I think I love this?

I'm taking a break from Xenoblade 3 for the moment. Not because I am not still enjoying it but because I am near the end (I think) and I would rather finish the game off in one giant session. Plus the final moments tend to be long so I don't want to get in a situation where I beat the final boss at midnight on a work night but there's still an 1 hour of cutscenes left.

Just thinking about the Panda Gamecube controller kickstarter that amassed $2m out of the $100K asking in five days before getting cancelled.

I really wish we'd get news soon if they did find another manufacturer; honestly even without being a super competitive player, this looks like the kind of controller I'd want to play with in my daily gaming in addition to Smash Bros.

I did that exactly last week. I was already at the last dungeon and waited untill saturday night to finish it

Had a date scheduled for tonight. She never showed up, never texted or called. Feeling real down right now. I did get to see Dragonball Super Super Hero so that was fun at least.

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you find someone who treats you so much better.

Isn’t Panda the group Nintendo has partnered with for competitive Smash stuff?

My guess: Nintendo said ”hey, if you’re working with us, you’ll stop using the word ‘GameCube’ to market something, and you’re gonna promote the Pro Controller for Switch that we offer and not this.”

That's the surprising thing; Nintendo apparently had no involvement in getting the KS cancelled. According to Panda it had to do with ongoing Covid restrictions and rolling blackouts in the region where their Chinese manufacturing plant was located that would have caused them to miss the December 2022 shipping date.

Now, maybe this is what they say to journalists and they bury the truth, but I feel like if Nintendo was behind it they would have almost been proud that this was a C&D because of their relationship for their Smash tournaments.

Once my hand gets better, I’m considering getting back into destiny after falling off it a few years back

For this week and this week only, all of the expansions are free so this week would have been perfect to jump back in. It's a lot to take in if you have been off for a few years. Let me know if you have any questions that may help ease you back in.

I can’t right now with my hand. Even trying with one hand I can’t reach the left trigger

I was left on the forsaken expansion on Xbox. I redownloaded the whole game and got my warlock still loaded up on there. I may buy shadow keep and beyond light since they’re both on sale on Xbox right now for future use

Man it surely takes a while for a new party member in Xeno 2 to join. I've been amassing summoning cores for so long...

Hopefully you finished Forsaken since giant chunks, including the campaign, have been removed from the game. Shadowkeep you can probably skip. I mean there are some significant story beats but it's mostly whatever. Beyond Light is a definite pickup if you want access to Stasis. Plus I thought the campaign and destinations were more interesting than Shadowkeep.

I did finished foresaken thankfully so that’s all good. I had internet issues at the time so that’s why I fell off. I loaded it up briefly and had no problems this time. I’ll get witch queen at another sale.

Dm if you want to go on, I am on Xbox though for it.

Saw the last Gunvolt channel and they are going to add 2 new modes to the game in the latest update. Good to see they have a bigger roadmap for this game
