Used game stores can be hit or miss in my experience. I’ve absolutely seen repros/bootlegs in game stores. In the tail-end of the GBA’s life, EB Games (what we called GameStop here in Canada) had a case full of used (very cheap) GBA games but half of them were visibly bootlegs. The problem is they probably had no idea, and there’s a solid chance the people trading them in had no idea.

Are repro carts safe to put in my console?
 
I feel like I'm gonna explode with joy; my partner just got her invitation for permanent residence in Australia!!!

It's hard to overstate just how happy and relieved I feel, this has been causing us both anxiety for so long. We were so afraid we'd be forced apart when her current visa expired, but this means she can stay as long as she wants and we can remain together! :love:

At least Shin getter Armageddon should be getting a break. Devolution and Arc as the leads next game would be wild, especially if they use the latter to throw in tons of manga stuff

Finally got a chance to fully test my dungeon demo, and I'm amazed to say there are no major bugs, outside of some UI weirdness.

I can. Honestly that just looks like a legit cart with the back sticker removed. You should be good. Do you have the proper screwdriver bit to open it up? Looking at the circuitboard would be the best way to truly know.

If you don’t have the screwdriver bit, and you’re collecting SNES games, I highly recommend getting it! You’ll be able to open up your games, safely/easily clean the contacts, and if you’re adventurous, replace the dead save batteries. And they’re cheap!

My only exposure so far is their use in Super Robot Wars X. Where Grandis the early villain and her tank made the biggest impression(Nemo was cool too tho). From what I’ve heard the middle is some meandering filler but the first and third arcs are really solid. I mean it’s Anno taking the stories of Jules Verne and making a late 1800’s adventure and sci-fi story out of it. I did enjoy the bits used in SRW X.

I grabbed it due to a mix of a sale(Gkids releases rarely get big sales), me being super curious and wanting an Anno show for my collection. That and the last time it was released it was only in print for 2 years and on streaming for less.

It’s a solid classic kid-friendly adventure. Comparable to stuff like Mysterious Cities of Gold and Castle in the Sky pretty much. Arguably better than the novel it’s based on tbh

Just skip the infamous filler, that’s the one aspect that bogged down its legacy. I don’t remember the context but essentially Anno wasn’t involved in those and it shows. I think there’s maybe one or two episodes that you need to watch since they are plot relevant but even then the art and animation take a nosedive so it’s pretty jarring. I personally skipped the filler, there is really no shame of not comitting to the whole series since those episodes have no business being there in the first place. You can search for the exact episodes to skip, it’s a pretty big chunk so sadly it makes the climax and conclusion feel a bit rushed but the series is overall still fine, not much anime like that nowadays

You should watch blue lock this fall, it takes the traditional soccer anime setup of oh power of teamwork and friendship, gives it the middle finger and tells dozens of highschool soccer player trapped in a training facility, ego is all you need to be the best striker and destroy anyone that stands in your way
 
@Nabbit I played through the Yoku's Island Express demo last night and it was definitely a weird game but I'm kind of into it. I put it on my wishlist and will get it when there's a sale!

I read that one way to tell if a SNES cartridge is legit is to look at the screws. Legit SNES cartridges will have five-pointed screws.

New dog is destroying so many things in our house and (accidentally) trampling the kids with his sharp freshly cut nails. He's really got everyone in the house constantly on edge, either taking the kids toys or jumping all over them.

He is the sweetest guy, he just has way too much energy for a family with two full time workers and 2 very small kids. Vet told us he likely has some whippet in him too which means just walking him 6 times a day like we've been doing isn't enough, he really needs to run. And we can't really afford a fence right now.

I grew up with a SNES, so I think I know how a SNES cartridge should look and feel.

SNES cart plastics vary! Could honestly just be that the cart’s plastic was stored in a different humidity level or something. I’ve got a cart or two that have like, different shades on the front and back.

I looked at my Link to the Past cartridge, and it has a grey box that looks like the SNES controller buttons on the front, and on the back, the circled Nintendo logo has a copyright symbol.
