Spoiler The Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Postgame & Spoiler Discussion Thread

Does anyone have a link to the song that plays in the last part of the Direct trailer? I wanna hear it in the full context. (it’s not “A Step Away”)

Make sure you at least beat chapter 5

Edit: unless you meant the song in that plays after the step away song if so:
Plays in the second half

can someone tell me where to find the fourth conversation part for Nia's ascension quest?
They're found in (and I believe can be viewed in any order):
  • The City, Memorial Hall
  • By the Saffronia Tree in Rae-Bel
  • Campsite in Maktha where Noah and Mio exchanged flutes
  • Agnus Castle

I saw the unique Darbus that only appears in thunderstorms, it looked awesome. Then the storm ended and it despawned just as I was running up to it. I'm heartbroken.
Same happened to me, but I didn't even know what triggered it until reading this post lol

Realized I forgot to put my thoughts in about one more thing. Mio's origins, lets say.

I know the ending picture is a contentious topic, and I don't like it at face-value, but I personally believe it's just there to troll the fanbase and it's not what it seems. Just doesn't make sense.

I think it's more likely Mio is some kind of daughter-clone, or something like that....since apparently Nia can use the cells from her core crystal to......grow things? Going by how she tries to describe the Ouroboros Stones.

Another thing added to my list of answers I want.

McEntire’s best performance in the game and the scene that made me wish Noah was half as interesting as N.

Noah battles none of the same demons as N, he’s basically a perfect version of himself.

I also think his voice sounds way better in that range, Noah’s voice is too light for me.

"made me wish Noah was half as interesting as N"

That's exactly what Noah is though lol. He's the half that's "hope" while N is all of Noah's "demons" personified and left behind so Noah can grow. The game just handles it......poorly. Or "abstractly" if you want to put it a nicer way.

They save it for the very end of the game in the final dungeon when they become one, and the end when they're in the 2001: A Space Odyssey vortex. So we don't really get time to see any kind of difference. It should have happened earlier like with M and Mio.

Rewatching the cutscene is incredible how good Monolith has become at expressing complex feelings or emotions with little words. I need a Xenoblade 2 remake at some point with their current/future skillset, they improved exponentially over the last few years.

Also finally a better way of showing flashback than making everything yellow.

For sure!

There's a little moment I like during the Homecoming scene where Eunie's hands are tied and she talks tough with her fists clenched. The close-up shot of her hands tied shows her fists loosen and relax a little and her tone immediately changes from acting tough to worrying about how they are probably going to be executed.

Such a nice way to show the change in her demeanor to us without immediately using dialogue or showing her face first.

Just beat the final boss, so I can finally participate in the spoiler threads! Still have a lot of quests to do but I got the main story out of the way at least.

I still have…a lot of questions, though I imagine some might be answered in quests, and hopefully whatever remain are answered with the DLC. But damn, the callbacks at the end… I started tearing up when Melia showed Shulk’s Monado REX, but then they fucking throw Poppi and that photo of the XC2 cast at you and I just started fucking bawling. I can’t imagine this game hitting nearly as hard if you hadn’t played the other two games before it.

I fucking love how the game said “polyamory rights” with the photo of Rex, Pyra, Mythra, and Nia at the end; I would have never expected that, but as a polyamorous person myself I love to see it, especially since video games (and media in general) almost never go there in a serious way that isn’t just played off as a joke. I also really appreciated the game not being afraid to essentially say “fuck conservatives” in the City and all, lol.

One of the biggest things I was confused about with the ending is the purpose of Origin; I had initially thought that the game was saying that Origin was created as a way to ensure the safe merger of the two worlds, but that was totally wrong and the actual purpose was to…push the worlds apart again, I guess? That part kinda took me by surprise ‘cause it’s not at all what I was expecting based on what the game had told me. I’m guessing it’s only a temporary measure, though, and that the two worlds will inevitable attempt to merge once more in the future…and maybe that’s where Mira comes into play, lol. But it’s hard to say much before we get the DLC, especially considering that it seems like it’s likely to be an epilogue story this time instead of a prologue like Torna was.
I’m finally reading through this thread and only just now realizing after posting this that that was apparently the thing that people were making a big deal about that was going around after the game leaked early…huh. Like, I’m sure it could have been presented better, but…clearly I’m seeing it in a totally different light than others were when I immediately viewed it as an unexpected but totally welcome and positive thing. I guess the babies are a bit weird (and raise some questions about how they were able to be conceived in the first place, but I’d chalk it up to being due to whatever happened in XC2’s ending that brought Pyra and Mythra back, probably) but I suspect they’re supposed to be important in some way, given that the game already hints that Mio may be Nia’s daughter. And, like, I can understand the concerns about the framing in the photo and all, but also…this is fucking Rex we’re talking about; if you’ve played through XC2 and know the kind of person Rex is, you’d know there is no way his relationship with Pyra, Mythra, and Nia would be anything but supportive and as equals. And I’m just happy to see any kind of official acknowledgment of a polyamorous relationship in a game like this, because like I said, it’s something you don’t see anywhere near often enough, and there’s still a ton of stigma around anything that isn’t a typical monogamous relationship.

Anyway, that aside, when do you think we’ll start getting some further answers about the game? Will we have to wait until the story DLC drops, or do you think some details will be answered in developer interviews? Or are we going to have to wait until they release models of Melia and Nia’s giant castle mechas that’ll have important, previously unknown lore bundled with them like what happened with the Siren model? lol

Has anyone figured out what the elemental buffs are for Royal Summoner? Have no idea if the class is viable at all.

They did her mature look so well, I love it. I wonder if she ever had a family of her own... I guess Shulk is too faithful a husband to do something like Rex did. lol. Though I don't think he's even aware of Melia's feelings. I really wish we got more than just some re-used cutscene from DE for Melia's quest.

By the way, it reminds me that the High Entia kings are polyamorous too, since they have two wives : one High Entia and the other one Homz.

After completing Nia and Melia hero quests I’m done with the game until the next wave of DLC. I had a great time even with the flaws.

Also Nia’s quest really wants to let you know that Mio is her daughter without explicitly saying it.

Can someone explain the picture at the end, are they alive or not if they are then why don’t you see them in the game, or is it saying that they are coming back after the world starts over

One of the biggest things I was confused about with the ending is the purpose of Origin; I had initially thought that the game was saying that Origin was created as a way to ensure the safe merger of the two worlds,
The purpose of Origin was to "let humanity live on" - meaning ensuring humanity doesn't disappear forever. They knew their universes' deaths were inevitable, but througu Origin, exact replicas of their universes would be booted up and continue living. The lives in the new universes would still be new consciousnesses - the originals were always going to die.

but that was totally wrong and the actual purpose was to…push the worlds apart again, I guess?
Interestingly enough, the universes weren't pushed apart - those were new universes being created by Origin, as intended. The old universes collapsed into each other, and the Noah you see at the end "unfreezing" is actually the new universe "starting" where the old one "left off", so to speak.

I think the DLC will take place sometime in the 1,000 years before our story takes place in Aionios. The original Founders are a commonly shared idea for the subject of the DLC story.

They're not alive, and haven't been for roughly 1,000 years. But Nia supposed she'll see them again when the new universes are created exactly how they were 1,000 years ago

So I just found out that in Colony Mu, you can breed & raise Amas when you finish Fiona's Ascension.

IIRC, the "1000 years" is when Noah became N. He and Mio have been trying to defeat the Moebiuses for who knows how many decades / centauries.

Ooh, here's a neat thing: When you upgrade one of the main party's weapons with Origin ore, the name of the weapon changes in the hero roster. Mio's weapon went from being called Dual Moonblades to Sundancers.

I just realized something. X is in Eunie's side story, isn't she? I wonder if anything unusual happens if you do that quest after you've ostensibly killed her.

You will not encounter X in the final dungeon if you haven't finish that quest.
Interesting. That makes sense.
If Blades can have children, (presumably as a side effect of the ending of XC2), wouldn't that imply that Sena may be descended from Brighid?
Assuming that it's an every blade thing and not just an Aegis/Flesh Eater thing, then it definitely seems possible.

That's true, it could just be related to being a Flesh Eater and Pyra and Mythra could just get special dispensation.

Makes me want a Malos descendant.

Tbh I don’t really be any a whole lot of fanservice in the DLC. Maybe for one of the extra heroes, but I want the story expansion to mostly be it’s own thing. I’m quite happy that XC3 is as isolated as it is.

The DLC can be anything really. With the concept of being re-born again and again.

They can make Eunie the main character in a scenario she lived in out of popularity lol.

Or they can make the Agnus side get some development where they forgot to do in the main game.

Or Founders stuff

Or Vandem’s stuff.

Or events that happen after the end.

Or Melia and Nia stuff.

It’s pretty much open to many more things then Xenoblade 2 was.

PERSONALLY, I want the story behind Hackt. Gone to soon after chapter 1 😞

Hackt and Mwamba's excellent adventure.

Dorin and Bambam are right there and they didn’t even get a spot on your list. Shameful.

I have so many questions when the game ended:

Who made Noah's sword? Who made N's sword and why does it look different? Is it different or is it just a different look with the same functions?

What's the point of the gauntlet part of the sword? It almost feels unspoken and forgotten in comparison to "Lucky Seven". What does it do? Why?

So Moebius is an organization/group of people influenced by their fears of the future. So when Noah at the end says "This whole places feels like Moebius" in regards to Origin, is he referring to how Origin was "corrupted" by Z? Where did he come from if he's just a representation of fears? Did he just manifest out of nowhere? Are there other gods who represent other fears?

So if the two worlds "reset"(?), does that mean Keves and Agnus forget each other and don't exist in each other's world anymore? So how would the two groups ever meet? What does that mean for Melia and her XB1 gang, Nia for her XB2 gang?

WHAT ABOUT KLAUS
WHAT ABOUT THE SAVIORITE REBELS
DID THEY FORGETTTTT

I am kind of sad they never address the separate worldly elements like why Agnus people never ask why High Entia have wings on their heads, why Keves never notice the Agnus core crystals (or how the blade race never behave like blades during death), nobody brings up the Machina for Lanz's weird look, etc. Seems bizarre to have a glaring hole in the world building in the idea of "two separate worlds collide".

What does the flute playing represent in the post credits?

Hopefully the DLC addresses some of these questions.

1. Who knows. Actually Riku and Melia seem to know but they don't tell anyone.

2. I think it's purely cosmetic.

3. Moebius isn't really a thing, the way I understand it the collective souls/people inside Origin shat themselves in fear of the future and that willed Z into existance. He is fear of the future personified.

4. The most common interpretation is that after defeating Z times resure flowing, the universes of 2 collides destroying each other and Origin recreates them from the moment of their destruction. The implications are left vague but the epilogue scenes hints at Noah remembering the off-seer melody and some form of connection between the two universe still existing.

5. Klaus and his conflict don't matter really. He's dead and gone, no one else from his era is alive. It's all lost to time unless Takahashi decides to go back in time with the future games. What he left behind is a universe ending disaster.

What would there be to remember about the saviorite rebels? They were a faction on earth who wanted control of the conduit and died with the rest of Earth. Maybe some lingered on as Guldo. But what more story could there be to tell about them in anything set after Klaus's experiment?

Speaking of Klaus, we now have the full consequences of his actions:

CONS:
  • split personality, one of them playing God
  • killed billions
  • ended 2 universe

PROS:
  • Nia in 2 different games
I'd say he did nothing wrong? 🤔

Somewhat unsatisfying but thematically appropriate for a game all about moving on to not care about the past storyline lol

Idk I figured it being introduced at the end of two meant there was more going on than it seemed compared to XB1's ending. Thought it would be a whole subplot line in the war of the universes

4 different versions of Drifting soul.

And all great.

Thank you, Klaus.

Nia’s explanation cutscene explains what happens afterword. Origin is designed to reboot the worlds to their “previous states.” Based on the opening cutscene we know what the previous state for XC1’s world was. So the two universes are recreated from Origin. So that’s why the ending has Noah in the recreated worlds, but the “Aionios era” still had an impact because Noah seems to recognize the flute melody.

Nia’s use of the plural possessive (I think that’s right? lol) “worlds’ states” instead of “world’s states” and her hesitation to answer Sena’s question implies the worlds will be recreated separately necessitating the party splitting up at the end. Plus before the intersection Nia and Melia were in contact anyway so communication between the worlds is definitely possible.

Yeah Z is essentially a “glitch” born out of origin’s storage or humanity’s souls backed up there. They were all anxious about the intersection and didn’t want to face an uncertain future. Hence, Z. Z’s maintaining of the destructive status quo instead of facing an uncertain future is illustrated in the annihilation events and black flog eventually wiping Aionios out despite Z holding everyone in this pocket reality instead of letting the intersection complete and allowing Origin to do what it’s designed to do.

Nia said the two worlds “cancel each other out” and we see ouroboros leading to annihilation events if they are together too long which is a “””“metaphor”””” for Aionios and the combined world.

The black fog in Future Connected was a sign the intersection was coming closer and that final heart to heart where Melia discusses her anxiety for the future based on the fog and what it means I think is a look at humanity’s larger apprehension that eventually led to Z.

I think there was a sidequest where they discuss some of differences in Alrest/Bionis-Mechonis races and their capabilities. (Teach’s Teachers I think.) There was also that cutscene in chapter two between Sena and Lanz discussing the “chest trinkets.”

The sword of origin is just a piece of origin that is outside of Z’s control. That’s why the sword reacts to Moebius stuff and fucks with their abilities sometimes. No idea who made N and Noah’s swords. Maybe the guild that Riku is involved with? I’m sure the answer is a lot simpler than what is in our imaginations lmao.

Finished up all the ascension quests after about 120 hours, which I think was my total playtime for going through XC1 on the Wii. Starting working on hunting down UMs for Soul Hacks, grabbed most of the Legacies of the Seven, made a rank X gem with gold Nopon coins, got the Soul Trees filled past 90%, upgraded most of the Blades except Eunie's, and have enough Exp to put the sqaud into the late 80s. Aside from the above, I think all I have left is the Colony Mu Armu ranch. Not sure if I'll do the superbosses right now, might wait for some of the DLC to come out.
