News Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase announced for June 28th

You care about marketing reception far more than Nintendo does.

SMTV and MHR didnā€™t sell any worse because they were revealed in a Partner Showcase, nor they would have sold any better if they were the highlights of a General Direct.

Knew something was up today when the @NintendoAmerica Twitter account liked the first tweet today since their last like in March.

I guess partners only know theyā€™ll be in a direct? Now come to find out your game will be in a format most donā€™t like.
I mentioned that before. Seems like a great way to piss off third parties. ā€œWell technicallyā€¦ā€

I canā€™t imagine agreements are that vague.

Kinda wonder if we may get a Fire Emblem specific direct sometime over the next 12 months. I remember the one in February 2017 or so, it was really cool. We got Echoes Shadows of Valentia, the first confirmation of an eventual switch game (three houses), and Fire Emblem Heroes info... Maybe they talked about Warriors, but I forget.

Specifically since we have two Fire Emblems supposedly coming up (genealogy remake+FE17) that could make for a really strong showcase if both end up being positioned for 2023

Previously the pre-announced Partner showcases both have some exclusive titles (SMTV and MHR), just putting it out there.
I mean we know that M+R will likely be here

But we might well get some new exclusives announced as well

Huh.

At least it's longer than Partners usually are, 25 mins is pretty decent. That's something.

Maybe it'll turn out to be something cool in the end.

What if third parties knew Nintendo was going to reveal Metroid Prime 4, Prime remaster, BOTW2 deep dive, new Fzero and Star Fox games, and mother 3 and were like ā€œfuck that, put us in our own showcaseā€

We're gonna get a DQ segment, we know DQ Treasures is supposed to have more info in June. Maybe we get DQ12 and DQ3HD too.

I donā€™t know about your country guys, but here in Mexico we are right now in the middle of another COVID wave. 17,000 new cases in a single day.

This is giving me 2020 flashbacks. Therefore, only partner showcases, twitter drops and specific directs for the rest of the year.

Yeah I'm not sure where this 'partner showcases are bad' narrative has come from considering they've had some very high profile and important games there in the past.

Maybe it's down to them splitting them into smaller chunks across multiple months like they did back in 2020. If instead we had a one 25 minute showcase featuring Monster Hunter, SMTV, Ori and others, then people would have remembered it a lot more fondly I feel. Looks like that's what Nintendo are angling for here.

If they can put together specific game directs and third party showcases they can easily combine them for a standard direct. Covid doesnā€™t prevent that

OK, you might remember this from the other thread:

To add a bit more information, after his info drop people in the stream asked him about that game, and how famous it is. He didn't comment further, but just that he will post a GIF on Tuesday on Twitter and people will recognize it at first sight šŸ¤”.

So...

I'm only expecting Treasures, but any more Dragon Quest would make this as good as a general for me lol
Oh and Shin-Chan hehe

I don't mind it being a Partner's at all. There's a lot of potential here for it. But I just wonder where's the announcements Nintendo would have used if E3 weren't cancelled? I'd assume they would have something if E3 was still a thing, so they would have had something to announce. Are all of the major drops being relegated to Twitter now?

Is there any chance for a
Cowabunga Collection shadow drop? Havenā€™t heard anything about it since announcement.

As much as I want it now (check out signature for more information), I don't think it will get shadow dropped tomorrow. Just a hunch really.

The thing is, there was one legitimately great Partner Showcase (September, with MH Rise and Stories 2, Hades, Ori, RF5, Disgaea 6, and more) then the others had maybe one decent announcement each. So they were mostly fairly weak with that one exception

If this is in line with September then I'll be pretty happy, and since I think it's unlikely this'll be a monthly thing then I think it should be pretty good

Not gonna lie, I would really like to be in 2020 right now, but at the very least we'll have a Direct tomorrow (even if it's a partners showcases).

This upcoming Partner Direct might be the biggest insult by a major gaming company in the past decade. I literally screamed "FUCK YOU" at my screen. I knew it wasn't set in stone that they would do a General Direct but the hype they created made me think they were just going to surprise us with it anyway. Absolutely unacceptable to do this to us. Once they knew General was expected in June, they should've just done it.

No reason to assume major drops on twitter. Nintendo has been doing regular directs since 2021. This is because there is no E3 (and maybe hardware coming) theyā€™re doing something different

would be weird if we don't get a first party one this week or the next.

I want to see more Splatoon. And Fire Emblem 17 (which probably lost any chance it had of releasing this year). I don't care about 3rd party

There is when historically they have used this time to show off new first party games. And lets be honest, it is dissapointing to know that we wont see zelda for another 2-3 months at the earliest. People are allowed to feel dissappointed by this. Its great that you are not, but let people feel how they feel.

I mean there is a different between disappointing itā€™s not the first sorry direct, but some people are going overboard.

For one, we know most of their big releases for this year. And secondly, theyā€™ll have the direct when itā€™s ready. Itā€™s not like Nintendo decided to go on vacation until the end of the year. A direct will come, just not dated yet. And logistically, it makes sense to do the indie and third party direct first, and save first party for last.

And also, with Nintendo, historical means nothing really. People always try to crack some hidden code with Nintendo, and that they wonā€™t do this because they didnā€™t do it before. I just donā€™t think that is how they operate with the exception of E3, which is not happening this year.

Going by the Kat and Krysta podcast, a direct is a lot a lot of work, and previously with E3, they had to meet a very strict deadline for the show, which is not the case anymore.

At least it's the longest Partner Showcase ever so better than expected already
They should have grouped the 2020 ones in a single one and used a reel for smaller updates
