Aaah no I have to work at that time :((( oh well, either I manage to take a break for this or I will go radio silent on social media. Time to unsub from Nintendo yt acc cause you know they gonna upload all trailers directly after xD

While not what most of us wanted, it is cool that it is that lengthy. I don’t think that we’ll see a series of these like In 2020, they don’t call it "June", which would imply more.

Regarding Nintendo Stuff I feel like Mario Rabbids is very likely and Bayonetta is also somewhat possible. With the Ubisoft Gameplay Demo it actually makes sense to do this showcase.

I fully expect them to do more smaller directs until or after september, like for Splatoon, hopefully Metroid, maybe Zelda or a bunch of Mario Stuff.

I agree. I think we will get a Splatoon Direct and Mario Direct (Mario movie trailer). Maybe something Bayo-related and Metroid Prime Remaster, though that could be via Twitter announcement.

I read this as the E3 general is not happening, and they will hold off for another General until the usual September. FE 18 is probably 2023. Hopefully I am proven wrong.

My hype for Nintendo has dropped off a cliff in the past month. They started off this year really strong, but this summer feels dry as hell. Nothing looks interesting to me until Splatoon 3, and even then it’s basically looking to be a rehash.

I need a real Direct, please Nintendo. Just give us a new mainline Mario or something.

It's funny, because for the first time ever, I only wanted news on MK8 DLC and didn't really care for anything else from Nintendo besides maybe Strikers updates, so that can be dropped at any point. I'm excited for the Persona stuff very very much, and eager to see what good stuff has been cooking from third parties

What the F happend at Nintendo, something went wrong there that they bring back Partner Showcase, unless there will be some Twitter drop for there own things, but yeah... disappointing to say the least.
I don’t think so honestly. I wonder if they do have a few more announcements on their part for the latter half of the year but don’t want third parties to get lost in the shuffle.

I maintain that first-party output is def too light for H2 2022. They gotta have more.

this is pretty long for a mini. did they just slap "mini" and "partner" on this thing because they know it's going to suck?

A new generation of Pokemon is as big as you can get for a Holiday title outside Animal Crossing or Mario Kart
We used to get a Big First party holiday release as well as Pokémon, this has only really changed the last couple of years, which sucks for me as I don’t like Pokémon games.

This is such an out of touch announcement. I don't get how or why they aren't doing a regular direct as they def have something to show... they also need to show some stuff and date announcements. I get they hate people knowing their next move but they are doing things way too complicated sometimes for no reason.

Hell yeah, 25 minutes is pretty hefty. Dunno why they are calling it a “mini”.
Sub 30min = Mini Direct . It could have BOTW 2 , Odyssey 2 and a new Animal Crossing and even then it would be considered mini if It’s sub 30min (of course they wouldn’t make such event)

25 minutes is a decent length and increases the chances that it'll be good. More time, more games, higher odds you please some people.

Really depends what there is to show. Release date for Sparks of Hope will be a highlight, I'd guess; for me personally news on things like Dragon Quest, Fantasian, the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters would be good. There's obviously going to be ports, including previously leaked things like the Batman games. Some good indie stuff would go down well. Maybe Supergiant's next game? I always wished they'd expand Hades, or maybe pull a God of War and have Zagreus get trapped in the underworld of another mythology. Perhaps an Oxenfree 2 release date? That one game people keep asking for? Something from the Capcom leaks turning up to be real and on Switch would elevate proceedings. The Goldeneye remaster would be a high profile crowd pleaser.

For now the one thing I'd be sure of is a Sparks of Hope release date. In 2020 I thought the Partner Showcases got better as they went along, especially by the time Nintendo could use the format to announce something as important as Monster Hunter Rise. Sparks of Hope is the biggest third party exclusive they've had since then, and that's definitely set to feature.

Almost more interesting than the event itself is why they've decided to bring the specific branding back. It's either mundane - Nintendo didn't need to stick to the traditional E3 branding so they're breaking their news up and first-party news will get dropped next month - or something bigger is happening. Be interesting to see what Jeff Grubb says about it today.

Are there really rumors for July or is this some kind of Fight Against the Machine defense measure where we collectively decide there is surely a July direct surely happening because why wouldn't there be?
I believe the Nate had mentioned he had heard something but would have to verify to say more.

I wouldn't look into any deeper than E3 was cancelled and they decided to split their announcements up this year, like Grubb suggested.

Nintendo definitely doesn’t only have 3 published games coming in half 2. There’s going to be more. Nintendo is playing chess right now. Too many people out here playing checkers.

Since this is not live-streamed, I don't expect any third party surprises (no Persona, no Batman Collection, no FF Tactics / IX Remake...)
So because it's not live there will be nothing exciting?
I don't think so.
This is the longest Partner Showcase yet.
And even the last ones had reveals for SMTV, MHRise, KH Melody of Memories.

You people are just too negative.

I like being a curmudgeon

Now leave me alone ya damn kids! Get the hell off my lawn!

People always seem to wish worst case scenarios into existence in Nintendo circles. It really wasn’t out there to expect BOTW2 news/title reveal and a Metroid Prime 4 update

If it doesn’t have Persona and a Silksong release date this direct is pointless, sorry I don’t make the rules

I'm not sure I share in the negativity here gang. I said before if we go with what we know of/what's rumoured, it should be a good show. A Direct Mini which includes a Goldeneye port, a Mario + Rabbids 2 deep dive and the reveal of games like Persona would be great IMO

this is pretty long for a mini. did they just slap "mini" and "partner" on this thing because they know it's going to suck?
It's weird isn't it. If they really wanted to support their partners, they would give this full Direct status and mix in a couple of first party things. The Mini Partner branding is really downplaying, so it probably isn't going to be very exciting.

A delayed direct is eventually good. A bad direct is forever bad. Or, something like that.

Finally, the day has arrived!

We're about to find out how much weeb can be crammed into 25 minutes.

And I am here for it.

Seriously, Sega, Capcom, Square-Enix, and Atlus don't let me down.

So Mario & Rabbids isn't even going to be in it? Yeah this is gonna be some 6 year old ports with 20fps lol. Nintendo really didn't want to bring any hype with this years ''e3 times'' huh
Mario + Rabbids Direct announced as part of the event.

So am I right to assume no big first party titles for the holidays again as a September Direct would not leave a lot of time for marketing ect. ?
Well, splatoon, pokemon, and mario rabbids are their big holiday games for this year. I imagine bayonetta is still in the “we hope we can hit 2022” phase at platinum, so its no surprise they are being silent right now. If they manage to get bayo ready for this year, i imagine it will get its own direct. But yeah, i think this is the year we are seeing most of the big delays caused by the pandemic, so they may not have more than that for this year. But i mean, hey, its better than microsofts output this year (pentiment looks cool tho)

I’m not bummed. Anything involving licensing is on the table and we still get plenty of interesting stuff. Still pretty hopeful for a second n64 NSO roadmap too

As someone with over a hundred third party games on my switch I’m fine with this

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say they're going this route cause

1. No obligation to do a big E3 style Direct.

2. The current upcoming releases being Xenoblade Chronicles 3 AND Splatoon 3 are very strong.

3. Satisfy their third party partners with announcements.

Things I expect to pop up on twitter randomly over the coming months:

  • Splatoon 3 Direct announcement (We need this asap)
  • Video showcasing Wave 2 of N64 NSO titles
  • MK8D Booster Pack Wave 2 trailer + release date
  • Mario Strikers Battle League updates (the Daisy y'all want)
