News Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase announced for June 28th

So am I right to assume no big first party titles for the holidays again as a September Direct would not leave a lot of time for marketing ect. ?
They can certainly have a December game announced in September, but who knows what they are going to do

Never was a fan of Partner Showcases as I don't care much for game industry aside from indies and the 'tendo, so definitely quite grumpy about that. Still, a normal direct is coming, so whatever. Speaking of, I know that veers into rumor territory, but have any insiders spoke of when that might be in the last few days?

People said the same about June, so it's not even worth expecting that anymore lol.

I mean, they eventually have to have another general Direct this year. That seems like the next likely date.

Bayonetta 3 needs a release date, plus the leaked FE that is reportedly finished. Oh and that little game called BoTW2 which is coming out in less than 12 months.

Third Parties: "I know E3 is cancelled but can we still share a presentation with your big first-party releases? :("

Nintendo and Sony for some inexplicable reason:

I like to think the third parties are finding out it's just a partner showcase with us lol

Also 25 minutes is honest pretty solid timewise. I'm sure there is a decent amount to show off.

While not what most of us wanted, it is cool that it is that lengthy. I don’t think that we’ll see a series of these like In 2020, they don’t call it "June", which would imply that there is one next month again.

Regarding Nintendo Stuff I feel like Mario Rabbids is very likely and Bayonetta is also somewhat possible to show up. With the Ubisoft Gameplay Demo it actually makes sense to do this showcase and have the focus on third parties. Let‘s hope that the pacing and the games are better than in 2020.

I fully expect them to do more smaller directs/trailer/news until before or after the september direct, like for Splatoon, Pokémon Presents, hopefully Metroid, maybe Zelda or a bunch of Mario Stuff.

This fucking blows, now I gotta wait at least another week for the Mario Kart Wave 2 release, but I think more than anything, it just sucks that this isn’t gonna be a big Direct I can make an event with friends, just a shorter, less interesting broadcast, that will probably only have one interesting announcement at the most. Why Nintendo’s going back to this after putting out some of the highest quality directs they ever have is baffling, in that classic Nintendo sorta way. I hope Nintendo plans on keeping us in touch weekly after this, whatever other first party releases are lined up for the holidays, as well as the next wave of the booster pass should be known by mid July (with the wave also out by then)

Whatever, still going to watch the show, there’s a chance for some reveals I’m interested in, Rabbids 2 is sure to be there, and maybe we’ll even see some other Nintendo IP, we know news from HAL is on the table but yeah, guess we’ll just have to wait and see

Potential announcements/updates:
  • Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
  • Bayonetta 3
  • Persona 3/4/5?
  • Unknown 2018 game
  • Tactics Ogre Reborn
  • Skyrim Anniversary Edition
  • Batman Arkham Collection
  • Final Fantasy IX Remake
  • Live A Live

To be honest, I think there's 2 possibilities... or they think that by spreading 1st party announcements with twitter drops they get more viewership...FALSE, directs more a lot more people tbh and the hype carries publicity...
Or they have some kind of bigger direct or presentation for new hardware later this year and are saving the big announcements for that, and this direct is more for contractual purposes they have with the usual E3 direct slot.

"If Nintendo is getting all the third-party stuff out of the way, it must mean the next full Direct is going to be a big one with tons of new first-party announcements!"

I know this is snarky lol. I'm just a pessimist who can't relate to hopeful people, so I make fun of them to help fill the hole in my wretched heart.

OK That Portal Collection is getting shadow dropped, that's a hard lock.

Nintendo will absolutely have a General Direct in Early September. It's not that long of a wait, folks.
I see your early September and raise you a late August.

I wish!

I'm curious for this Partner, as i really want to see Persona games, the Arkham Collection and maybe a RDR port announced. But i really don't think H2 will be just Xenoblade, Splatoon and Pokémon in terms of first-party content. They probably have another event planned for later in the summer

This will be called dooming, but I expect there to be 7-8 minute long sections of games like M+R:SoH that they want to show more off. Maybe even Sonic Frontiers with the expected reveal of the Cyberspace stages. I just don't think we should expect too many new games to be revealed in this presentation. I expect Persona to be there (and if it isn't, that is probably the end of all hopes for Persona on Switch for the foreseeable future). Already announced stuff like Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, FF: Crisis Core, etc will also likely be re-iterated as Nintendo likes to do this. Apart from (hopefully) Persona 3/4/5, I expect 1 or maximum 2 new announcements
M+R is getting its own showcase of sorts June 29th, so very very doubtful

Guess Mario Kart DLC will need to be a twitter drop deal.
That honestly seems like the best way to put future waves out. I feel like a lot of Nintendo's "season pass" DLC usually get a big fanfare to announce it and then it juts gets released with a Twitter announcement and the fan sites do the rest of the legwork.

This will be called dooming, but I expect there to be 7-8 minute long sections of games like M+R:SoH that they want to show more off.
Given the rumor for an Ubi event the following day, that seems unlikely

Tradition is officialy dead! Every year without E3 will mean no general Direct. It will only get worse if Nintendo start to shadowdrop 1st party things on twitter again. Total excitement kill for me. Hope this one is good at least.

They can show a good amount of interesting third party titles.

I think this will be focused on fall 2022 titles, at most winter 2023.

Since this is not live-streamed, I don't expect any third party surprises (no Persona, no Batman Collection, no FF Tactics / IX Remake...)
I don't think it means that. It just means don't go in expecting any huge exclusive title announcements like Monster Hunter Rise.

Yep, unless Mario + Rabbids will be holiday

And of course Pokemon, but that's a given
Oh yeah I forgot about Mario
& Rabbids, at least that’s something else to hopefully play before Christmas, but I really miss the big Nintendo Holiday release which has kind off died off in the Switch era.

Do you think it will be mainly big 3rd parties, or throwing in some larger indie things too? (Come on Hollow Knight!)

Makes logical sense with no E3 this year and need to fullfill those third party contracts.

Btw for everyone worried it will just be third party, they've shown Buddy Mission Bond, Part time UFO and Age of Calamity at this. Not gonna go "patterns!!!!" But there could be small first party stuff

I dont see Nintendo going for Twitter drops. Nintendo Direct is the best thing they did marketing wise and all the other players in the industry are copying it. It's a huge event. No need to drop that. As for possibility 2, I think that is what to expect after this announcement. A big direct with new hardware and Zelda in 4K.

Looking forward to the Mario + Rabbids 2 news, anything else is a plus, just hoping we get a Splat 3 direct in July.

This could be very good, people.

Hopefully, Nintendo will make it good enough to dispel the notion that a Partner Showcase means a lackluster presentation.

I was still hoping it would be a general Direct so that's a bit of a bummer. I'll wait and see what's in it before I call it disappointing though. Could be the best partner Direct ever.

No because things can still be dropped via Twitter and there are rumors of a July direct.
Are there really rumors for July or is this some kind of Fight Against the Machine defense measure where we collectively decide there is surely a July direct surely happening because why wouldn't there be?

Nice, can't wait to see what they have to show. Personally I think Nintendo is pretty good on the First Party front this year with Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Splatoon 3, Pokémon, and Bayonetta 3 so I'm excited to see what they have coming Third Party-wise.
