This game will probably become my game of the year and so far it already looks very promising. I'm beyond excited for it!

...where's my boy Rex at?

Am I crazy? Many of those environments looked literally out of X. Like it’s literally Oblivia in there.

Maybe this is a prequel to X 👀 and this is Mira’s past 👀

This looks like a dream sequel to both games - absolutely cannot wait!

Another banger OST incoming!!!

Yeah, I've seen the easy mode stuff thankfully :)

As for the gacha stuff, I can't remember too much but I think there were some gates you had to unlock with specific Blades. Maybe that was just for side-quests, though.

All the gatekeeping elements in main quests can be unlocked with all the default blades the game gives you. You just need to level their attributes.

Ah, that's cool :) So how much of the blade stuff do you have to engage with? Can you realistically keep the default blades the entire way through?

The music is beautiful. I loved the character designs in Xenoblade 2 and I'm loving the character designs in 3 so far! I'm pretty sure that's Nia wearing a mask toward the end.

So do y'all think I need to play XC2 to enjoy this? I haven't played any Xeno games, buy I already own 1 and will play it eventually. 2 has always thrown me off because it looks way above my anime tolerance levels
Xenoblade 2 is an amazing game. It dethroned Xenogears as my favorite game of all time. Something I'm still surprised about. If you like Xenogears/Xenosaga then I think you'd really like XB2.

The Van-man in Xeno games is basically the equivalent to Cid characters in Final Fantasy but this version is so similar to the previous one (same voice even?) that it looks like straight up reincarnation. Zohar/Conduit shenanigans?

This looks like a direct sequel, so yes. And XC2 is goated so you should be playing it anyway

I don't think it is necessary since XC3 is explicitly tying up both XC1 and 2, so there will probably be call backs/intro and what not to avoid alienating new players to the series.
That said, I found XC2 a very beautiful story with tons of legit great character development if you can go past the questionable character designs and rage-inducing gacha elements.

If just plowing through the main story without being a completionist, since for the most part each are stuck with their story-related blade then the engagement with other blades can be minimal. Mostly for helping you through combat and boosting stats.

I count six controllable characters. Some of the mechanical things I'm not sure if they're structures or enemies, seems like a mix. Fighting giant robots would be sick. Also looks like you get a boat, can probably fight monsters in the water

There's already a lot of callbacks, so you'll be missing out on those - but I'm sure they're not integral to the experience, and the story should be pretty appreciable without them.

Playing both games (and Torna) before September sounds like a recipe for RPG fatigue too. They're long games.

After Xenosaga I'm not sure they'll ever have the balls to do "You absolutely need to have played the previous game to understand this" sequels again since that was one of the factors for Xenosaga's failure, with Xenosaga 3, by far the best game, being locked behind two far more mediocre entries.

Those character designs are fire. Clear inspirations from Yuri Lowell and Flynn. I take it, he looks great.

I wished less nature locations and more scifi ones but scifi parts look so good I can't complain.

OST seems more subdued this time, at least when it comes to cutscene tracks. Obviously too early to tell but I recall Mitsuda saying the music he was working on for his next game was more dreary or something along those lines

Okay, okay. Finally composed enough to scream about things that aren't Lanz...

This seems interesting to me! Wondering how the story will pan out... And my god, it's so cool to see the Machina again, I legit nearly cried...
