Well, I hope they keep whatever story stuff they have as snappy as possible. Give me some of that patented Zelda Fantastic Setting And Vibe with a smidgen of story to set stuff in motion and go.

OTOH I'd LOVE some more meaty side quests.

I soooooo badly want better side quests in BotW2. Make them more personal, and have them make me get to know the NPC's more. Tarrey Town was great for that - hope the sequel, with all of its dev time, will yield great results in this department.

I don't think BOTW or Splatoon ever got on cart releases. Not in Europe anyway.

Besides, Smash would probably be an absolute nightmare to arrange that given the majority of the DLC characters are third party and probably have various licensing agreements tied to DLC sales.

Japan did, and I believe they got announced or mentioned in the JP Direct ahead of their release:

I picked up both and can confirm they have the DLC etc. on cartridge.

Omg Nate seems so damn confidence in Xenoblade 3!!!
would you mind to resume the podcast for me, even via DM if you don't want to spoil the thing? I'm working right now (kinda lol) and I'm unable to hear it. don't mind if you can't but it would be very appreciate.

Let's find the Direct we lost.
Cause of all the people crying in vain.

Predictions Because Why Not :

  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3, no mentions of X.
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land
  • Trails of Cold Steel I & II
  • Goldeneye 007
  • No mentions of Turrican Anthology because The World is a stand is cruel.
  • Star Fox teaser.
  • After Majora's Mask, the next N64 game is Superman: The New Superman Adventures Mystical Ninja Starring Geomon.

Not a lot of ideas, to be honest. I don't expect BotW 2 to be in this but I love when I'm wrong so Nintendo, you know what to do !

Not a prediction, and not a big surprise for most of us, but from what I've heard Splatoon 3 will be featured in the Direct with a release date set at Summer 2022

They really want to make it clear that Botw2 won't be here. OK. I am used to it. Act like an Adult. I am 37. I have a child. Calm down.
I feel you. But at least we know it exists. I'm 50 and sitting here like, "can you guys announce Mario Odyssey 2??? Please???"

Time to prep the card!

Why does my mind want to say we get fucked and get none of those shown. LoL

WOOO! First post here. So happy to see a lot of familiar faces. Can't wait for tomorrow.

I really hope Xenoblade and Fire Emblem aren't the only big announcements here. I'd be happy for the fandom of course, but they're not super exciting for me. Give me Mario or Zelda or DK or Metroid or something like that. Even a flashy new IP would be great.

I refuse to acknowledge this direct.

Seriously my "As someone who has never been wrong" worked 100% before this. I hate this now.
You just have to will yourself into an alternate universe where it's not tomorrow. Just like I did, I willed myself into an alternate universe where it is tomorrow. I should've swapped places with you in this universe, my bad.

No worries.

It'll still have Square stuff at least.

Woke up this morning with the feeling a direct had been announced... And it was!

Also found your new place, I had a feeling resetera was missing something lately :) hyped for both the direct and to read some backlog of crazy predictions lol

I wanna get hyped for Metroid Prime remake but I just got a hdmi converter thing for my GameCube and played through the game twice over the last month. The graphics on GameCube version absolutely hold up and it might be Stockholm syndrome but I actually donā€™t mind the controls.

For the record. For over six months I really did think that Samus Hunter was the real deal.

Lately it seems that they have simply been piggybacking around the internet even on the Monster Hunter stuff.

I really wanted them to be real deal too.

I also disagree with Nate on people being happy with the direct with what could be new announced. To me this could be a split direct. Some people love it and some people think it was ok.
Isn't that how every Direct ends up being?

Ultimately the distinction they made was between side quests (= fetch quests really) and Shrine Quests, which were the traditional side quests. The downside of the latter being that you already knew what the destination would be which kinda deflated them for me.

Yeah I'd trade 50 fetch quests for more Tarrey Town scale stuff, in which you make more of an impact on the world.

Direct hype! As always, I'm going on with zero expectations, so any announcements will be pleasant surprises.

It's looking like it will be a solid Direct for me but not a great one. Better than Feb 2021 and Sep 2019, worse than the other two 2021 Directs and of course the 2018-first two 2019 Directs, but I'd love to be surprised

this is the most surprisingly overt nate has been in ages, how are we having this conversation today
This is exactly what I was thinking. To say he was being vague and the rest of us were filling in the blanks to make him look credible is ridiculous.

Disregard any of the ā€œperhapsā€¦ā€ type tweets (or whatever,) and youā€™re still left with the fact that he posted the YouTube poll calling out the 9th/10th with pizza and umbrellas (the global direct dates,) popped into the speculation thread to say he just saw his neighbor walking down the street with a pizza-patterned umbrella, and then said his next podcast would be ā€œtomorrow morningā€ (the silent implication being that it would be his Direct Predictions show and it would go up shortly after the Direct announcement, which is exactly what happened.)

To retool a common phrase: Heā€™s pissing on us and telling us that itā€™s piss, yet some people still believe itā€™s probably just raining.
(Luckily for them, his neighbor has a pizza umbrella they can borrow.)
