TV to promote the upcoming second season, the Halo TV series is currently free to watch on Youtube (US only?)

the show has had a bit of a mixed response, but it's at least fairly interesting from a historical perspective.
Microsoft had been trying to turn Halo into a TV series or a Movie for over 17 years. leaving a long trail of unrelated Sci-fi films, cancelled video games involving some of the same staff, and the infamous push to make the Xbox One a "general entertainment device" in it's wake.

the fact the show even exists at all after all those failed attempts is genuinely shocking.

My feelings on this show are... complicated. Stuff I like, stuff where I'm like "I can see why this choice was made, but I disagree", and stuff I really, really don't like. We'll see if Season 2 improves or just doubles down on all bad/questionable choices.

Absolutely wild that this even emerged from the development hell a movie/show adaptation was trapped in.

The first half of the first episode, when the Elites are raiding the outpost and the Spartans show up, is so freaking awesome. I almost don’t want to watch the rest of the show now because that battle scene was really all I needed from a Halo show.

As someone who's never had an Xbox/gaming PC or played Halo... it was decent enough but obviously if you are deeper into the games then I can imagine it had some stuff in there that was... interesting/offputting/bad.

Also expect this practice to be up for debate in the next round of negotiations with the writers and actors, studios are putting all these episodes and clips on YouTube of important moments from the shows, or just full episodes as "promo" but no payment etc... for the creatives involved relative to the views they bring in...
