Antstream Arcade is offering over 1,300 retro game titles on Xbox One and Series X/S, with notable titles such as Space Invaders, Metal Slug and Bubble Bobble. The company says these titles will be playable instantly without additional downloads or installation via its cloud gaming platform, with more titles being added every week. This is notable as Antstream will be the first third-party game streaming service on Xbox.
The service will support cloud-based game saves, an online scoreboard and the ability to pick up your game from multiple devices.

Antstream Arcade on Xbox will be available for pre-order starting today on the Xbox store. Pricing will start at $29.99 annually with a one-time lifetime purchase option for $79.99.
a bit mixed on this, for the simple reason that you're streaming retro games from the cloud, rather than having them stored locally. seems like a bit too much bandwith.

on the other hand. the service has a decent chunk of games that are only currently available on it. which could lead to problems if they ever shut down in the future.
as the recent VGHF study on retro games noted.....
We also found that classic games are sometimes only re-released for a single platform, meaning if that platform goes down, those classic games will disappear too. The worst offender we spotted is the Commodore 64: Most classic Commodore 64 games are only available through a single service, Antstream Arcade. If Antstream shut down, the availability rate for Commodore 64 games would plummet to an apocalyptically low 0.75%.

Commodore wasn't very available before.

This is an NSO situation all over again with no option for offline purchases. Sheesh.

this was... OK on PC. I reviewed it a few years ago, but there's definitely too much input lag to do this "seriously". Moreso fun for the leaderboards since everyone's basically dealing with it. Wouldn't dare to play the RPGs on it. Some fun challenges too.

Lots of stuff is just clearly MAME running arcade ROMS though. Ozma Wars/Fantasy are missing sound cues due to missing samples... And it's still like that 2 years later. It tries some higher tech stuff like Desert War from Jaleco and that just has tons of sound issues. So yeah, it's a mixed bag. I do have a guilty pleasure for taking on the leaderboards in the Magical Drop titles, though.
