I never liked that idea. Groose is this archetype of a goofy school bully who develops a heart of gold and becomes a hero in his own right, willing to let go of his love for Zelda for the sake of the world. Ganondorf is a cruel king of thieves raised by witches who sought power after surviving in the harsh desert. I'm not convinced trying to establish some connection would benefit either character.
To this day I'm still pretty amazed that Groose is not Ganondorf.
I know a lot of people like Demise, but when I started Skyward Sword, the fact that Groose has red hair, is super muscular, doesn't like Link and knows Zelda, I was expecting him to be contaminated by evil and that he would become the first incarnation of Ganon/Ganondorf.
I'm sure Nintendo thought about it too but it's a shame they didn't do it
