This looks really good to me. There’s a gajillion 8-bit inspired games but this is leaning closer to Yacht Clubs ‘you’re trying to recreate what people think they were like, not what they technically were’ philosophy. Also the chiptunes sound cool
 
Yep, I backed this on Kickstarter so of course will be playing, it looks great! In a nice changer of pace too, the KS was only in like December and it’s already coming out.
 
Yeah, that looks great. Amazing concept for a videogame character too, if it's well executed it could be really special.
 
Amazing. Hadn’t heard of this until now. Will be buying it Day 1.

Shovel Knight was more of a homage to the NES era, and was influenced by multiple games, rather than the (Classic) Mega Man ones specifically. It goes further than what those games actually were, but not too far. It walks a tigthrope.

This is already avaliable to preorder in LATAM, so that makes it already better than Souldiers. For some reason they never made avaliable the game in the region (except Brazil) and just sidestep the question on discord

Sort of. There’s some clear inspiration with the knights each being themed and you fight one at the end of each stage. But… you also don’t get their weapons from fighting each one, which you then use to clear another one faster.

The game is more like a melange of different NES games.
