TV My Adventures with Superman |ST| Man of Feels

We're still waiting on news about Season 2's release date, but in the meantime, we're getting a short comic series that bridges the gap between the seasons!

Per DC:
On June 4, DC is bringing the action and excitement of the hit animated series My Adventures with Superman to comic book fans in a new series. Written by series producer Josie Campbell and drawn by artist Pablo M. Collar, My Adventures with Superman picks up from the explosive end of season one, serving as a bridge to the highly anticipated season two.

“Being the producer of My Adventures with Superman and bringing Clark Kent to TV screens around the world has been nothing but a dream come true for me,” said Campbell. “So I’m absolutely thrilled that Pablo and I get to bring fans even more adventures with Superman, this time in comic book form!”

Clark Kent is a bit down and out, spending Christmas alone in Metropolis. But when he gets a tip about a monster in the sewers, Superman, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen spring into action to investigate this mystery. What is this monster that can absorb anything it touches, and why is it here in Metropolis?

“This story is one we actually talked about in the writers room, but we didn’t have space for it in season one,” continued Campbell. “So get ready for romance, comedy, super-powers, Jimmy Olsen talking a lot about how he’s super-rich now, and all the goodness of the show bundled into this action-packed miniseries.”

Teaser trailer for season 2! I love it when good shows get renewed.

Sounds like we're getting Supergirl already?

based on how the last season ended, looks like Zod. Saying humanity will kneel sounds like a Zod thing. I think theyd save Kara for later, after Clark is more established.

Yeah, last season indicated a Krypton related villain was being set up, leaving basically Zod or Brainiac, and everything is pointing to it being Zod, especially with this teaser. I’d honestly prefer they hadn’t, Zod is a “Superman but evil” villain, something they’ve already explored a bit and is overdone and not as interesting, while Braniac is something more unique.

Dang, when they meant "peek," they really did mean it.

Assuming what has been posted online about casting is to be believed, we do have someone lined up to play Supergirl in Season 2. Of course, without fuller confirmation, we can't take it as confirmed, but I wouldn't be shocked to see her given where the storyline is going.

As of the ending of Season 1, Clark is in a weird place when it comes to his Kryptonian heritage. He sees his people as ruthless invaders and himself as a tool sent to further that goal. Clark's anger at his father (held with partial information, mind you) and Clark destroying the mothership in the finale with the Kryptonite are two rejections of that heritage. But then we have the Jor-El hologram helping his son, speaking his language and hoping he lives. That doesn't line up with the picture Clark has painted in his head.

So the stage is set. Clark isn't fully sure what to make of his identity. An alien, a weapon, but also a protector, a hero. You bring in our antagonists as shown in the Season 1 ending teaser, Braniac and "General Zod", and that confirms Clark's worst fear. But you bring in Kara in the same storyline, a family member that has firsthand experience and who could speak to the positives and negatives, and things begin to come together. It feels like a strong way to tie the theme of Clark as an immigrant together, him being able to see the big picture and be able to build a much healthier connection with his heritage while also fighting the conquerer that represents the fears Clark has for himself.

...that being said, given that the voice actor for "General Zod" (credited as the Kryptonian warrior) is Kari Wahlgren (the same VA as Martha Kent), this might not exactly be the straightforward Zod story.

The easy way to bring in an evil Kyrptonian, Supergirl, continued themes of self and familial-discovery, and even a parallel with Lois's own personal story is to have the main antagonist not be Zod, but Zor-El, Clark's villain uncle and Kara's father. That's what I'm expecting. That also opens the path up for a heel-face turn for Kara.

Full trailer!

Seems like we're going full steam ahead with familiar Superman elements 👀

I really wish it was easier to watch in Canada, all this nonsense with "add-on" channel packages with these streaming services is such horseshit.

Yeah, I have to jump through several hoops to watch it legally here in germany too. Really a shame.

Just watched episode 3 of the new season. Been enjoying it a lot thus far.

Some thoughts
Have many questions. Surely Sam Lane will figure out Clarks identity eventually, he seems too smart to not be able to figure this out living with Clark and Jimmy, Surprised Jimmy's net worth didn't drop this episode but i'm sure he'll be broke by the end of the season.

It's been interesting seeing the kryptonians made to basically be Sayians in this show, actually conquerors. Interesting also that Supergirl is shown as being a baby too like Superman was when he left Krypton. I really hope she isn't the conqueror shown in the season 1 final episode and that's just another evil Kryptonian, Jor-el was unaware of, With Kara arriving eventually (and if Steel can get his suit back) we may wind up with 3 heroes in Metropolis, I do wonder if any other heroes are active in this world, it doesn't seem like it. But maybe Batman is already working in Gotham and nothing big enough has happened there to be mentioned in Metropolis. I'd love to see a Justice League emerge in this show but that feels like something for a 3rd or 4th season.

Wait Season 2 is out???

Continues to be a pain in the ass trying to find where to watch in Canada 🙃

I already have enough subscription services and if Max content is offered through Crave, there's no reason it can't also be put up there. I don't need to be paying extra for Global or StackTV on Amazon Prime.

New episode just aired.

Not a fan of putting Kara into the Zodd role, but it looks liked theres some mind control going on. Preview for next weeks episode showed them in space. The show has been well enough weitten for me to give them the benefit of the dount on how they'll handle this.

One thing I did appreciate is that Kryptonians have technology that actually amplifies their powers.

It goes to show that, unlike the movies, these Kryptonians know how to fight on other planets, they know about their powers and have developed methods to make themselves even stronger. It's a very refreshing change and means Clark can't just rely on greater familiarity with his powers to win.

Did anyone else notice the Gundam RX-78-2 shield in ep 4?

I’m not really feeling this season so far. Maybe it’s that I enjoyed the romance story between Lois and Clark in the first, and Clark discovering his identity, but there isn’t a lot of that kind of story this time.

It is interesting seeing that all kryptonians have powers even without a yellow sun. So maybe the yellow sun of our solar system is the reason he keeps developing more powers, hence (im assuming braniac) taking an interst in him and demanding Kara take him in.

A lot of this season has had their relationship on the rocks, but I think they will come out of it stronger than before. The showrunners have said the romance between them was an important part of the show so I don't see them shattering that long term.

It feels like task force x/the government/Lex and the suff with Supergirl is heading towards some big event which Clark will need to prove himself to the people.

I'm hoping we end the season with Metropolis having a couple new heroes (Supergirl and Steel) so Clark is no longer alone. I think the collab between Waller and Lex is gonna collapse at some point. One of them will eventually betray the other to further their own interest. I think Sam Lane is eventually gonna have to work things out with his daughter (her moms/his wife's death seems to be a sore point between them) and he'll eventually figure out Supes identity.

There's a lot going on and I'm very curious to see how it plays out.
