Discussion How did you come up with your username?

Kingpin Rogers

Chain Chomp
Pronouns
He/Him
Thought this could be a fun thread.
For me, if I remember rightly I came up with from watching Daredevil, which at the time had a character called Kingpin in it and also being a fan of One Piece which had the character Gol. D. Roger. Put them together and you get my name. Funnily enough I've at this point fallen away from One Piece and never ended up watching more than like two seasons of Daredevil so my name's origin isn't really super relevant to me anymore. Still my favourite username I've ever had I think though.

How about you all?

From this list of Araki Hirohiko's favorite toys
Here is the top 5 of my favorite toys

1. Phosphorescent skeleton (When it shines at night, it feels like I'm in a fairy tale.)

2. Bouncing ball (This piece of rubber took me into a science-fiction universe.)

3. Resident Evil(Playstation) (It's so great!)

4. A Thunderbird II model (I love the design and I find that the container's conception was very clever! I really had the impression I could go anywhere with this.)

5. Lego or Mega Bloks

(I spent whole days assembling and disassembling the piece to make new models. I think that Lego is the Western philosophy in its entirety.)

I wish there was a cool story but it was something about Video Demand and then Enter was just a word that randomly came to mind.

VDenter

I'm really bad at this stuff so I just looked up a list of uncommon words and picked the first one I liked lol

First syllably first name + first syllable last name. Not even my concept, I nabbed the idea from an IRL friend of mine. At some point I started putting "sir" or "-dono" (cuz I'm a weeb) around it because it's easier to see it's a name that way, also some places don't like to register just "AnGer". And yes, the capitalization is important.

I play video games and J and M are my two favorite letters.

Well, that's what I used to say. The secret is that I actually had the starting point of my mom's email handle, which had the first letter of her name and her last name in it, along with some numbers. The numbers represented how many siblings and children she had. I knew at like 11 that I didn't want to dox myself, so instead of using my last name I used my initials. I also didn't have any kids and forgot where she said the other number came from, so I ixnayed the numbers. Just having my initials wouldn't be enough, so I added the word "Gamer" because it was supposed to be a handle specifically for things related to video games. If I were to ever join a drumming forum, I would have been DrummerJM, or a religion forum (as I was quite religious at the time), I would have been CatholicJM. However, I never did either of those things.

Fami (form Famicom) and Corpse (a literal corpse) = famicorpse (or family corpse I guess).

I don't know. I like it.

Around 20 years ago my friends and I were playing one of the Medal of Honor games on GCN. One of the playable characters was named Sturmgeist. I saw the name and thought it was sounded so over-the-top cliche bad guy German, so I yelled out STURMGEIST in a German accent and it caused my friends and me to laugh hysterically for about 10 minutes. After that my friends started calling me Sturmgeist and the name stuck.

When I was younger, I was a bit of a naughty poster on message boards, so someone called me an evil chameleon as an insult, and I instead turned it into the nickname I have used just about everywhere for well over 15 years now.

Originally I went by ChibiGoku on most sites. Long time ago, I was trying to come up with a name for my character I was trying to get designed. It was a "wolf boy". Mendinso popped into my head for one reason or another.

Ultimately, I started to move away from my ChibiGoku name and ultimately ended up with Mendinso. Name came up around 2003 or so. Name switch came shortly after that (around 2005 or so). A few sites still have my legacy name (ANN, Toon Zone, Fandom Post, etc.), but I've otherwise no longer use it.

Either way, Mendinso is a Mendinso.

When I was in college the last three digits of my student ID were 777. During my free time in the afternoon I would hang out in the rec center and eventually they started calling me "Sevens" over there, then it just became "Seven."

It’s my initials - NMP. Or at least they were before I got married lol. This handle is fairly recent. I had another one that I used for a looong time but I sort of aged out of it and stopped liking it.

Because of this track. when it came out it blew my mind and changed the way I create music forever:

I think someone called me a Pokémaniac at some point when I was a kid because of how deep I got into Pokémon. It just kinda stuck.

Am also a fan of the Gen 2 sprite for that trainer class which is from around the same time.

Lots of people choose the name of the main character of their favorite game for their username, so I was having a bit of fun and instead of naming myself some variation of Link or Zelda I chose the old man from Link to the Past.

A desire to be unique back in middle school (?), a lifetime of regret following that, and a stubbornness to great to do anything about it.

Remember those email chains that went around in the 2000s, that were strings of random questions? You'd get one from a friend, read their answers, then copy/paste, put in your own answers, and pass it on to your friends. One of those I got asked a bunch of random "favorites" and then at the end put the answers together in different ways that would be your "______ name." The one for my "porn actor name" was a combination of my favorite type of candy and the name of my car. It's stuck for over fifteen years. 🤷‍♂️

I wanted to join a Sonic forum many years ago, and obviously all of the usernames with "Sonic" in them were taken by that point.
So i looked up a random English word and eventually stumbled upon "Krvavi" in a random (Slovenian, apparently) article.

The "Abadas" part came from trying to make an anagram for "badass", and i noticed it worked well as a last name.
With the proper translation in place. It inadvertently forms "Bloody Badass".

I liked Azrael from the Smurfs, and also this picture of a cat with a lime on its head, and thought it looked kinda like a samurai helmet, so I made an avatar with Azrael wearing a green samurai helmet

It's my third forename, I don't get to use it very often but I like it a lot so I figured I could use it as my username here.

Look at my avatar. Ain’t he adorable? I’ve been rocking variations of this avatar for a very long time, so when Famiboards started I decided to change my longstanding username and started going by Red Monster.

It used to be chairkicker, which is weirdly similar to my real name. Then I disemvoweled it to chrkckr for a few years, and then I entered the palindrome and emerged chrkrhc. Been a hell of a ride for this username.

Used to play a lot of Warhammer fantasy and played Orcs & Goblins.
Named all of my special characters and I had a Savage Orc Shaman which I called Mbolibombo for whatever reason - and I always enjoyed it so I picked it as my online persona as well :p

My friend commented on how I could be mean and try weird stuff. Like throwing pigs from the cliff in Windwaker, killing classmates in hilarious and shitty ways in matches of Unreal Tournament. He also used it jokingly at times because he thinks Il’m this nice guy and laughs every time when I do something out of character.

Thus Sadist was there

Substance (also known as Substance 1987) is a compilation album by English alternative dance band New Order. It was released in August 1987 by Factory Records. The album compiles all of the band's singles at that point in their 12-inch versions, along with their respective B-side tracks. The then-newly released non-album single "True Faith" is also featured, along with its B-side "1963" and new versions of "Temptation" and "Confusion".

It's my actual name. I was amazed that it wasn't taken and that I was allowed to have a username that's only 3 characters long.
