Nintendo has suggested that the successor to the Switch will not arrive before March 31, 2025, indicating an April release at the very earliest.

Yeah bad conclusion. My theory is that their lack of clarity on launch FY has more to do with the fact that they don't have an exact month pinned down and it could fall on either side of the boundary for FY2025 and FY2026.
 
If Nintendo were certain it won't launch until next FY, they would just say that. They're keeping their options open.

On a side note: seeing Furukawa refer to it as the 'Nintendo Switch successor device' is giving me flashbacks to the unfortunate period when, to sidestep the pro vs 2 debate, we called it the Switch Succ.

Yeah, Nintendo expecting to sell 13.5 million Switches for the fiscal year does not mean they are not releasing the Switch 2 later than April 2025. Those are two different sentences altogether.

On that note do we have even a full translation of the Q&A yet?

We do not. Official translation is pending, and usually ~10 days after the fact, iirc.
 
That is so dumb as an actual understanding of what was said, but great as clickbait. Welcome to 2024 Journalism.
