Scarlet & Violet will overtake Splatoon 3 next week. Mario + Rabbids numbers feel disappointing. MK8D has a uphill battle to reach 5 million retail by Christmas. Those Horizon Forbidden West numbers are very unlucky it would seem.

Another strong week for Switch and OLED. PS5 fell behind Vita further but had a solid week. PS4 giving it all for one last holiday score, and Xbox Series having uneven stock. Switch OLED could possibly top 3 million for the year and Switch family could eke out another 5 million this year.

Yeah. I have the feeling the game is not doing very well overall. We haven't heard anything about its sales, like a 1 million milestone or something. And the UK debut was not super crazy too.

Mario + Rabbids only sold really well because it was the first brand new Mario game on the Switch previous Wii U owners, and newer Nintendo fans wanted more Mario after Mariokart 8 Deluxe.

Once we started to get regular mainline and spinoff Mario titles, the need for Mario + Rabbids massively dwindled.

It surely helped its sales I think. All other PM games didn't sell nearly as well and all came rather later in the life cycle of their systems.

Sparks of Hope might be down to a few factors; I can't really speculate on Japan specifically, but globally I'd guess:

• lots of the audience for the first game jumped as the game dropped in price and so aren't prepared to pay full price
• as others have said, there's more competition for Mario series games these days
• higher digital ratio now that the Switch is a more established system

The sequel is dropping at a time when strategy RPGs are a wee-bit saturated on the Switch and people have a lot more options to pick from. I would expect the game to possibly pick up sales next year when it starts seeing more discounts and we're past Engage

Might be an unfortunate (fortunate?) side effect of Ubisoft games always going on deep discounts mere months after release. Personally I am waiting until it is sub $20 like I got the first one. Maybe people are conditioned to just wait.
